Front of the home

Mike and his father did an outstanding job in painting the exterior of our home. The workmanship was very thorough and meticulous in prepping our home and throughout the painting process. The price for his week of work was very reasonable. I highly recommend Lux Painting for any of your painting needs!

Every centimeter of the porous stucco is covered in paint. Compete coverage!

Where do I start. Let me start with the trauma and tribulation I had with "5-star" Yelp painters before I finally found Lux Painting. In essence, I actually thought good painters didn't exist and maybe I was the one who had unrealistic expectations for paint to not be splattered on the floors, running over color trims, chemicals dumped in our sink, incomplete and spotty patchwork, poorly sanded surfaces, etc. So when I saw the reviews of Lux, I decided to give a professional company one last chance before attempting the paint my home exterior myself with the help of YouTube. Mike from Lux Painting came out with his wonderful father and they listened to me vent about past painters, showing them some of the botched handiwork during our walkthrough. I actually felt bad that I had to vent so much to the point where I was worried that if I didn't go over every last mistake made by previous painters, I was afraid Lux would make some of the mistakes I failed to mention. I was like a Bachelor contestant venting about past relationships because I was afraid of getting hurt again *sobs*. But I really wanted the outside of the house to look good after what happened to our interior which took me weeks to remedy on my own after thousands of dollars of poopy, poopy quality. Mike listened. And what's more, he told me his plan for precise, detailed painting of the house in greater detail than I even knew I wanted. Mike gave me an explanation on how he would achieve clean lines and sharp borders between the wood trim and body of the walls. It was music to my ears. Some of our wood trim was in bad shape and I asked Mike if he could replace. "We are painters and don't do woodwork. We suggest hiring someone to replace the wood trim and we will paint it for you". Wow! There was something honest and real that Mike wouldn't experiment on my house outside of his trade. Previous painters I'd used would want the extra money and start a non-paint project outside their expertise with disastrous results. Everyone, painting is NOT easy. So having a painter who only does painting is a GOOD thing. Lux was not the cheapest (about three percent higher than the competition) but I didn't want to come home every day to see a lackluster paint job for the next 15 years just to save a couple hundred bucks. So I felt like the quote and walkthrough with Mike was worth it and I accepted. The end result was beyond what I hoped. The photos speak for themselves. The stucco they painted is completely covered in thick, beautiful paint and the lines between the trim and the body walls are razor thin perfect. This made me realize how much of an art painting truly is when it is done right, and also the amount of labor involved in a job done right. When they were done with the job, the only thing I felt bad about was that I didn't have any other paint jobs at the moment! But when I do, Lux is on speed dial and I won't hesitate to call Mike. May God continue to bless the hands of Mike and his father!

Mike and Sam are wonderful. High quality, meticulous, hard workers, clean, thoughtful, easy to get along with. Will definetely use again and recommend.

This review is long overdue. We had Mike and Sam (son and father duo) paint all of the interior walls (except bathrooms), stair risers, and baseboards since we just had our floors redone. They did a fantastic job and worked very quickly- it took them only 4 days to complete (others gave us estimates of at least 5-7 days). Their price was also really reasonable- we had received a really wide range of estimates and theirs was towards the lower end. I really liked the fact that the work wasn't subcontracted out to another team. We had gotten estimates from 5 other companies and none of people we talked to would be doing the actual painting. Also, we didn't realize that painters would be so popular in the Bay Area so we were struggling to find someone who could start as soon as possible. Most companies were booked out until the following month. Luckily, Mike was able to accommodate for us. Additionally, Mike helped us figure out a color for the accent wall and it turned out great- we really love it! If you're curious, the accent wall is Behr Soft Pebble, a purple toned gray that changes throughout the day with lighting. The other walls were Behr Hazelnut Cream. Mike was very communicative thru text and email, answering all my questions very promptly and letting us know their progress. Highly recommend Lux Painting for your next painting job. Thank you Mike and Sam!

They were able to match the paint and make our outside wall look like new. I felt that they went above and beyond by getting to hard to reach areas and we are very satisfied with their work. We especially appreciated that Hugo came back the next day to touch up a few things that we had noticed. Both him and Jose were great! They also charge a fair price for their service. They also did some interior painting work and they did a great job there as well. They are very professional and talented in their craft. Would use them again for any painting needs we have!

Unprofessional, careless, and combative--avoid this company…read more Working with this company was a stressful experience from start to finish. I strongly recommend looking elsewhere. Skipped Prep & Unpainted Surfaces: While they did an excellent job on stucco patching, basic surface prep like scraping and sanding elsewhere was wildly inconsistent, leaving uneven finishes across several areas. Mold treatment was handled with a small consumer-grade spray bottle from Safeway rather than a commercial treatment, and they completely skipped painting several unexposed surfaces--such as the tops of beams and soffits--hoping I wouldn't notice. Messy Worksite & Property Damage: The crew left our property littered with tools, paint cans, trash, and paint chips across all yards at the end of each day. They damaged our attic vents and denied responsibility. During power washing, thin masking tape over our garage soffit vents blew off immediately, but foreman Hugo kept blasting water directly into the open vents--flooding dirty sludge all over a new vehicle and stored items inside. Combative & Insubordinate: Hugo repeatedly argued over clear mistakes. While applying a specialized porch product requiring a 4-hour dry time, Hugo started a second coat after just 1 hour. When I instructed him to stop, he ignored me and kept painting right in front of me, claiming he was "letting the product talk to him." I had to call Ibsan on the spot to force him to stop. Poor Communication & Pushback: Both Ibsan and his crew asked me for my paint choices at least ten separate times throughout the job, and repeatedly threatened extra charges for finishes explicitly included in the original quote. Whenever issues were caught, the crew claimed "it was like that before" until shown photographic proof. Hugo even spent three days arguing against fixing an accidentally painted window frame--a 5-minute fix--before admitting, "well it's worth trying." While the end result looks acceptable from a distance, basic prep work was skipped, surfaces were left untouched, and who knows how soon it will be before the paint fails. Save yourself the headache and hire a team that respects your home, your contract, and basic standards.

We got quotes from three firms total and Nstyle's was the lowest but they had the best reviews on Yelp so we decided to go with them, and those reviews proved true. We started with a small job to paint a bedroom and closet inside the house, which would have a white ceiling and dark walls. Fernando did it beautifully with "crispy" sharp lines where the two colors met and a smooth, flawless finish all around. When it came time to paint the exterior, Fernando as well as the rest of the NStyle crew did an awesome job with excellent attention to detail. They even worked weekends to be sure our job was finished before a new gutter install happened. Throughout the multi-step project, Nick, the owner, was easy to communicate with and took any feedback or requests we had in stride. At one point, the trim color was partway done but we realized it wasn't the right color ... even though Nick's team had already painted a swatch for us to approve; it just looked different in the afternoon sun. So I texted Nick about it, on Labor Day weekend, and he arranged to get a swatch of the new color painted as soon as Sherwin Williams opened and we were back on track (with no extra charges). The paint job looks gorgeous and I'm in love with my house again, thanks to NStyle. I'll have them back anytime I need some painting done; they're that good.

One great thing about this company is that they have a carpenter on board, which is very handy in fixing any issue with wood like wood rot. We were pleased with Cartwright Painters who made the exterior of our house beautiful once again…read more Cartwright was fast, reliable, responsive, and professional. Our project manager, Aaron Milne, quickly responded to our questions and concerns. His quote was complete in that he included details about all the repairs we requested of him: repair cracks in the stucco, stain and seal our front door, and paint our back deck. He explained to us the types of paints that were available from Sherwin-Williams, Cartwright's supplier. He priced the project competitively and when I called him to discuss his competitors' prices he made some adjustments. We obtained estimates from two other licensed, and three unlicensed, painting contractors. We spoke by phone with multiple references for two of Cartwright's competitors. Cartwright's references were as good as or better than the other companys' references. In addition, whereas Cartwright gave us a complete and final quote, their competitors' quotes all varied in price and completeness. For example, some competitors required us to buy the paint before the project was to begin whereas others would buy it if they were reimbursed before work commenced. In other cases, all other competitors incomplete quotes by not responding to our specific requests. Cartwright's quote was complete and businesslike. They have a net 30-day contract with their paint suppliers which means that they only asked us for a 10% down payment before they started work. The balance was due upon satisfactory completion of the project. We were pleased with the professionalism and friendliness of our painting crew, Aurelio and Ramiro. We are grateful to them for having taken time to show us three different paint schemes on our house. They painted three swathes of our trim and walls in the front and back of the house. This was determinant in our color selection. Our crew worked diligently throughout the five and a half days it took to complete the project. Moreover, they worked during the first week of July, 2024, the hottest this year. We often spoke with Aurelio about taking time for rest breaks. We agreed to earlier start times on several hot days. They always started work on the shadiest side before painting other parts of the house. Aurelio's work on our front door was most impressive because it was a singular challenge. He is a master painter. Aurelio and Ramiro sanded the wood until it was completely bare, and then they stained the doors over two days before adding a final polyurethane finish. The result was excellent. We are pleased with Cartwright Painters and we highly recommend them to you for your exterior painting project.
