Marcus did the exterior painting of our house. He did a very thorough job. His team was particularly neat - in the scraping, sealing, prepping and then painting. Our home has a lot of trim and all that is done by hand. He helped us by removing all of the exterior lights so we could clean them and then reinstalling. He reattached some lose metal trim before painting and then after the painting was done he reattached the cable coming into the home. He and his team worked hard and was very aware of our presence and respectful over the 2 weeks of the job. We are thrilled with the appearance of the home. read more

We hired Marcus to stain our backyard fence. I was so happy with the level of service that was provided that I need to share. I didn't realize how much work goes into doing this job correctly. First he pressure washed the entire fence to bring back the original look and color, cleaned up the entire area to not leave a trace. Let it dry, and then coated the fence carefully with 2 coats of amazing quality stain. I have not seen any overspray or excess anywhere! The color is beautiful and water just beads right off. Marcus and team is great. They did a wonderful job on our exterior stucco and completed the job on time. Good attention to detail and painted a bunch of little areas that we hadn't even thought about. One guy was also great at walking on our slate roof - always a concern for us but he was a pro. Marcus is very customer focused which is exactly what you'd want. We did have one hiccup where a crew member broke off an old pipe and we had to shut the water down. Marcus came the next day with another contractor and spent half a day helping us fix it. It was an unfortunate incident but we very much appreciated his efforts. I'll be updating this post after the winter - we decided on a paint job to help with some leaks inside the house (exterior is the first line of defense) so let's see how we do this winter! read more

I had 3 estimates and Marcus Henderson Painting wasn't the most expensive or the cheapest. He really took his time walking me through the estimate and what his team can accomplish. Interestingly, once I had the information of what he planned to do I asked the next painter to do the same and was told "I need to lower my expectations". I knew right then and there that Marcus Henderson Painting was the right company to paint the exterior of my home. It's all in the prep, the team spent 4 days power washing, sanding, replacing siding, caulking and taping / covering up for overspray. Every morning Marcus told me what they did the day before and what they were going to complete for the day. I always knew what to expect. Something i have never seen before was the cleanup of paint chips, his team literally vacuumed up every last piece of old paint. I was fortunate enough to see Marcus on a 30 foot ladder to get to the highest point of my home. He is very confident in his craft and scares me even to see someone up that high. Primer - MHP told me that he had the Dunn Edwards primer tinted to the new color of my house for better coverage. What a brilliant idea! Once the house was sprayed with primer all the siding, windows and cracks were caulked. He again showed me how this process can save a house from water leaks in the future. Final Coat- The color that MHP helped me select came out amazing. He really has an eye for color's. The amount of effort and care that he has for the homes that he works on makes me a true believer in MHP slogan. "We paint with pride" I know i selected the right vendor for this large job. Marcus did an outstanding job painting the   interior of my 2700 square foot house completely. He was able to repair all the bad door casings and holes in the doors from shoe racks and kids things. He also replaced all of the old baseboards since mine were so out dated.  I picked a lot of colors but I just couldn't figure out where to use them so they wouldn't clash. Marcus has an eye for what will look good and where certain colors should go. He surprised me with the placement and my husband and I could not be happier. Marcus left our house cleaner then when he started and we really appreciated that but what surprised us the most was that every evening when we came home we found fresh water and food in our puppies bowl. Okay, this is a long over due review as we received the service back in Oct 2016. Marcus and his team were very easy to work with and before everything begins, Marcus informed me that it would be a long wait so we waited 6 months for their service, so it's better worth waiting, right? lol I wasn't home when Marcus did the initial estimate for our painting project, afterwards, my husband told me that he believes Marcus was the type of person wants to do things the right way and gave a very reasonable quotes. So we decided to wait till Marcus and his team when there's availability opened up. He and his team of 2 came to our place on time @7am in the morning, and started the work without any delay and did a great job and really be careful especially during the popcorn ceiling removal process, they made sure the tapped everything and took out all the trash as well. Polite team also a bonus, they are very nice and patient when we made suggestions or let them know where needs to be touched up, they've never compliant and always try to not to interrupt our daily lives as well. You may be reading this review and thinking: "how is it possible for a painting company to have such amazing reviews??" - that's because you haven't met Marcus - or his crew. Grab a cup of coffee, or tea, or your favorite beverage and settle in because I've got a lot to tell you about this guy. First, I'll be upfront: of all the quotes we got to paint our house, Marcus was the most expensive. But when I we did the walk through, Marcus was asking questions about our (very old) house that no one else had thought to ask. He explained in detail his process, and explained why it was important, and was very upfront about what to expect. The man just doesn't cut corners and makes sure when he is done your house looks awesome. Example 1: We were missing a downspout for one of our gutters. Never bothered us - but Marcus said no way. Buy the parts, his guys would install it. He wouldn't put all the work in to make our house look awesome and leave us with a missing gutter. Example 2: When we did the walk through, he asked about painting the front door - I told him we painted it a few years ago and so we'd like to save some money and not repaint it. He said no way. Wasn't going to paint the whole house and leave the front door looking old. I AM SO GLAD HE PAINTED THE FRONT DOOR. The dude was right. Listen to the man. I have more examples, but you get the point. Second, the level of professionalism this man brings to the job is unprecedented. Without getting too far into details, we had a misunderstanding. That is going to happen. In all the houses we have bought and remodeled, there has always been at least one, if not more, misunderstandings. That being said - let's just say I was less than gracious in dealing with it. Marcus, however, was amazing, and took care of the problem (at his own expense) because truly at the end of the day his goal is your satisfaction. Finally, I have to say - and this may be weird - but at the end of all this, I hugged the dude. I mean, the house looked so good, his crew was so professional, I felt like he didn't charge me enough - so I hugged the dude. So yeah, just hire this man. You may be put on a wait list - you may have to wait (like we did) but I'm telling you: when it comes to your house, your HOME, don't cut corners. Hire Marcus. read more

Marcus Henderson Painting did an amazing job on our house exterior! The crew was excellent and so friendly! We enjoyed talking to them every day about the goals for the day. They are so nice, we missed them once they were done! They also did a bit of stucco work and painted a few interior walls. Their work was meticulous, fast and exactly what we requested. Cleanup was fast and through, along with detailed corrections to a few minor spots we pointed out. It was a professional job from start to finish. Marcus and his crew painted my house. They did an excellent job. Marcus even helped me with choosing colors. My wife had about 10 samples. I'm glad he was able to convince my wife with using neutral modern colors rather then bright reds or browns. The painters were super detailed and clean. They scraped, sand, primed where needed. We found Marcus from yelp. Wewanted to paint some of the interior walls of our new house including 3 accent walls. He was very friendly, and very professionaland also veryprompt to emails and calls. He and his crew finished the job in less than his estimated time. They were also very diligent with the prep and clean up. He helped us narrow down on the colors and was very informative about the paints. He also painted 3 closets for free as well. He also helped out my husband to docaulking on a bathtuband he came on a separate day just for that and did it for free! We had to call him again to repaint/retouch few of the walls after a horrible patching by an electrical guy. Marcus send one of his crew member and got the job done asap. We were very impressed with Marcus & team's work on the exterior of our two-story house in San Jose. It was a tough job, given that some of our wood paneling was sun-damaged. While some painters were inexperienced about such repairs (some even suggested painting right over the damaged wood), Marcus knew exactly what needed to be done to repair and paint the house. If there were six stars for incredibly, insanely-great, that's what I would choose for Marcus Henderson Painting. I don't even know where to start, there are just so many pluses and positives, and, frankly, nothing negative, to mention. First off, Marcus was sub-contracted through a contracting firm I'd chosen to install windows in my home. I'd seen the workmanship of the window installers, which was superb, so I put my faith in them that they made good decisions about sub-contractors. Was my assumption ever validated. The most outstanding quality about Marcus is his enthusiasm, and the fact that he *loves* what he does for a living. He was trained by his father, who is also a house painter, and Marcus is old school. I know this because my dad was a house painter, too. My father respected his trade and took pride in his work. This is so true of Marcus, as well, that he should write a book, or be featured on the cover of Time Magazine for bringing quality workmanship, ethics in service and tremendous customer service to an all time high. My house hadn't been painted in close to 30 years and it really looked it. Marcus explained everything that would be done, all efforts to restore the wood siding that had been exposed for many years, how many coats of paint would be used. He was always very clear, gave me daily updates, was easy to talk to, clean and neat, and, definitely, went the extra mile, whatever it was that involved the house. Poor quality on finishing the wood trim in my house. They put the finish on far too thick, resulting in a streaky, gloppy finish rather than smooth. Also I can see drop marks in the paint. They painted the wrong walls and had to redo that. Not a great experience. read more

We are BEYOND happy with our newly painted home! Marcus and his crew were top notch professionals and obvious experts on exterior painting. Marcus was the last of my three quotes and I'm so glad I held out to meet with him. Based on the Yelp reviews and pictures, I almost already had my mind made up. Marcus painted our son's room just a couple of days ago and the results are perfect. Absolutely perfect. Marcus is fast and efficient. And you'd have no idea painting was going on in your house because he is the CLEANEST PAINTER we've ever used. He covers everything and there isn't an ounce of dust from the drop cloths or drips of paint anywhere. It only took 4 hrs to paint the bedroom walls AND ceiling. In and out and perfect. Marcus and his team were excellent to work with. We contacted him and several other painters in November 2016, and he was the only one who offered to stop by and take a look. While there, he offered a number of suggestions including painting our ceilings instead of installing crown molding. He also assisted with our color selections and left some samples for us to look over. He was up front with his limited availability due to Thanksgiving coming up, but we ended up scheduling out in January based on our own availability. We communicated with Marcus about a week out to confirm the color choices as well as the start time. They showed up at 7 AM on the first day as promised and promptly got to work. Marcus walked through the job with us and his team to verify everything. He originally quoted us 3 days to complete the work, but on the first day said it would likely only take 2. They covered everything in the house and got to work. They were extremely efficient and thorough, and left the house cleaner than it was when they showed up. The painting looks great and we're so happy we decided to paint our ceilings as it makes a huge difference! They clearly take pride in the work they do! I chose Marcus to repair and paint the exterior of my home over my regular long-time painters (15 years) based on the amazing reviews he and his team get here on Yelp. I thought his quote was fair, he was timely in getting back to me with the quote, and I appreciated that he was easily accessible to communicate via email before the project and during the project. We have just finished up with only a very small punch list at the end that he came immediately to take care of. It was one of the much smoother house projects I've had and there seemed to be a lot involved with this old house. All of the other fabulous things people say here in these reviews are right on. He even found someone to come and quickly repair a fence for me and his team helped with that as well before the project was finished. There are probably a lot of decent painters out there, but Marcus and his team seem to run a really tight ship, they do great work, and they are all some of the nicest people I've ever had working here at my home.
