The cheese croissants were fresh, fluffy, buttery and layered. They just do pastries better in QC than home (Vancouver). The cheese was nicely distributed through the croissant too. The combo cost less than 22 CA$ with the upgrades, which was a great deal. Quiche and soup were warm and filling. Hot chocolate was pretty tasty as well. It was a filling meal for 2 people. Canele are a custard/pastry concoction shaped like little jelly moulds/cups - sweet but not sickly. I'm not sure how else to describe it. I like them, and like most pastries they are best when fresh. That being said, you can buy them frozen here which means you can stock up and keep some for later. I'll be going to get some more next time I'm up that way, just because they're so different and you can't get them in many places (I haven't seen them anywhere else). The staff that were there only spoke French, but that's normal for Quebec City (and pretty much guaranteed outside of the old town area).
