The bread is so pillowy and well toasted, the bacon is thick and crispy, the egg is nice and runny. Not to mention the chipotle ketchup spread, which ties the entire sandwich together. The sandwich is under $10 which is rare these days. It is located right inside Grand Central Market, so you'll have to pay for parking. Parking is in the structure attached to the food hall. It gets packed and cramped so be prepared for that. No validation either. Still worth a visit and they're usually pretty quick with preparing their sandwiches. The Fairfax Sandwich is their classic and comes with cage-free soft scrambled eggs, chives, caramelized onions, cheddar cheese, and sriracha mayo on a warm brioche bun. Though slightly gressy, the bun was sweet, and buttery, and you could tell it had been freshly baked. A delicate yellow color and fluffy, curdled texture characterized the eggs' cooking. As the eggs were arranged neatly on the bun, the chives added color, while the caramelized onions balanced the saltiness of the eggs, and the slight crunch of the caramelized texture added a delightful textural element. Food: I got the egg, cheese and sausage sandwich witth honey mustard aioli. This was what I expected with a runny egg on a brioche bun and a savory sausage patty. I wish you could customize the egg as I'm not a big fan of runny eggs. As for the uniqueness, I wasn't completely "wowed" with it. I mean, I kind of expected more for some reason. Summary: For being in the middle of DTLA and with all the offerings around town, this is okay. I mean it's fresh and hot with a steady flowing line and fast service. It's in the middle of a shopping center and pretty good, but I'd want to be able to customize my egg. The menu isn't huge and they do offer cheeseburgers and beverages, but I think this would be good if you have plans to not go far and want to fill up before you go exploring around DTLA. I took my transgender friend to this place because she/her has never tried it. I am fluent is Spanish however you would never guess that I would have a Hispanic mother, as the dominant traits of my appearance is of my father's; Lithuanian. Sitting at the counter I took a photo to check in on Yelp and one of the staff speaking to the cook said in Spanish, "I should slap this fag." They have a parking garage at $4 for 90 mins and other parking lots nearby. We got there on a Friday just before the rush at 930am. After we ate, the line was quite long. They don't have a huge menu, so pretty easy to make a selection. I got the sausage, egg and cheese sandwich. I should have reviewed the menu carefully and I failed to notice that the sausage is NOT pork- its turkey! I knew immediately once I took my first bite that it wasn't pork and I thought it may be plant based. I saw hints of green in the meat. Needless to say, I still ate it, but the turkey sausage was not my favorite. Sandwich portion size was good. I wasn't hungry after eating it and had no leftovers. Our food came out fairly quick. They had a bunch of to-go orders on the counter, too. Willing to try the burgers and truffle hasbrowns on another visit. read more
