Saw the guy review it on FB as 9.9. He was so, so correct. The large egg roll is the best of the best.

Ting's Kitchen - Pad thai with shrimp to go. Max 2.5/5. Ordered it spicy and all it is is super sweet and vinegary.

I was having a real craving for Hunan Dumplings and they had it at Ting's Kitchen ($8.95). I also got an order of General Tao Chicken ($10.95) for my husband, as it's one of his favourite dishes. Both dishes had some spicy heat to them. The Hunan Dumplings were in a thin peanut sauce and chili oil. I would have liked a slightly thicker peanut sauce and less chili oil, but I still really enjoyed it, and it wasn't too greasy/oily. The General Tao Chicken had onions, carrots, mushrooms and green peppers in it. It wasn't crispy, but still tasted good. The batter was not excessive and the meat was not gristley, so I was happy with this. The food overall I would rate 3.5 stars, but I'm rounding up to 4 because service was good and I like supporting small local businesses. I called in my order and went to pick it up. I had requested no sesame seeds and they obliged. The lady on the phone was courteous and efficient. She said it would be ready in 30 minutes. I got there in 30 minutes and it was waiting for me. There's free parking in the plaza.

We found this AYCE buffet called Mandarin right off the highway. The entrance is grand with koi ponds flanking an entrance bridge. A long bar greets you at the left and staff and host are eager to greet and get you seated. The host gladly walks you through the buffet showing all their points of interest. They had all the favorites from a salad bar, fried rice, beef broccoli, seafood and many more. They had a small but adequate sushi bar with basic rolls as well as sashimi. The dessert bar had everything from cakes, tarts and many flavors of scoop it yourself ice cream which seem to be a crowd facorite. This place is great for AYCE Chinese food that definitely hits the spot as Mandarin will leave you feeling satisfied.

This location is under new ownership and owner came over and introduced himself. The food is fresh and beautifully displayed. No pushing or cutting in line with most customers, and the staff is always refreshing the buffet. Everything i have tried is delicious! My daughter is a huge fan of the sushi and gravitates to it immediately. Lots of options for everyone and the dessert station is one of the best I've seen. Very thankful to live close enough to dine here as often as we do. Congratulations to the new owners and staff. You are all wonderful!

Seeing as my initial review was 7 years ago, I figured it was time to write an update. I had had…read moretakeout from The New Queen multiple times, but only recently actually dined in. I'm happy to proclaim that it's still a solid 4 stars! Most of their business is takeout and delivery, but they do have a sizeable dining room. This place is certainly a family business. Our server, Calvin, is the son. His dad is in the kitchen, and his mom does a bit of everything (including serving the alcohol, because I think Calvin is underaged, or maybe he's just youthful looking and happens to not be Smart Serve certified, lol). Everyone was really nice and courteous, and Calvin was very attentive (refilling waters, checking in on us, etc.). We had egg rolls ($1.50 each), wonton soup ($4.50), Pineapple and Shrimp Fried Rice ($14.50), General Tao Chicken ($12.50) and Beef and Vegetables ($11). For 3 people, this was a lot of food. We had leftovers. The egg rolls were open ended and were crispy and full of ground pork. The wonton soup was tasty. The broth was flavourful, albeit a tad too salty for my liking. Nonetheless, I enjoyed it. I liked that there were leafy greens in the soup, and even a slice of BBQ pork. The wontons themselves were filled with ground pork; more wrapper than filling, but this is the norm at most restaurants. The Pineapple and Shrimp Fried Rice was phenomenal. It was spicy in the sense that it was full of spices, but not hot spicy. It had a strong curry flavour to it. So flavourful and also generous with the amount of large shrimp. I have to admit that the General Tao Chicken did not look too appetizing, but looks in this case were deceiving because it tasted great. Not too spicy, and no strong hoisin taste (I don't like hoisin). More sweet than tangy. There were no leftovers for this dish. The Beef and Broccoli was good and filled with vegetables: broccoli, carrots, bell peppers, bamboo, baby corn, cabbage and onions. The beef was tender and there was a decent amount of it. The flavour was mild and less complex than with the other dishes, but we wanted a dish with vegetables in an attempt to be somewhat healthy that meal. This dish would be great for the less adventurous or those who are reluctant to try anything "too exotic." Those accustomed to international flavours may find it a bit boring. Nonetheless, I still enjoyed it. They are licensed but their alcohol selection is very limited. The hubster and his dad wanted red wine and there was only one choice. Luckily for everyone, they like Merlot. I feel that The New Queen is somewhere in between authentic Chinese cuisine and very Westernized Chinese food, although on the latter end of the spectrum. Yes, the place settings are set up with only forks and knives (no chopsticks), but the restaurant is in Stittsville, so you have to cater to your clientele ;) You won't find anything too exotic. However, the food is not greasy nor bland and actually has some flavour and spices. It is much better than most Canadian-Chinese food places in Stittsville/Kanata. Lots of people coming in and out for takeout, and delivery guys from different food delivering companies. It's not a date night kind of place, more a casual eatery. It's in a little strip mall, so there's free parking in the lot in front of the restaurant. Highly recommended!

It's a husband wife team and elder daughter helping out. Don't expect top notch service, and there is a bit of wait. Don't let that deter the food that is to come. We sat Friday night and ordered Yang Chow fried rice, lemon chicken, stir fry snow peas and Singapore fried noodles. The fried rice came first and it was typical but had a signature wok flavour and seasoned just right. Not salty, not bland and you feel like seconds. The lemon chicken was a bit westernized like gigantic chicken balls with thick light dough. It was good and has its merit, my kids like it yet I would pass next time since I've had better. I prefer a light crispy lemon chicken. The snow peas.. wow. This chef does it right! Tender, crispy at same time, seasoned just right that you taste the sweetness of the snow peas. Must repeat. For the grand finale, the Singapore fried noodles. I eat around the world and spend a lot of time at nice Chinese restaurants in Toronto and the Singapore fried noodles is a 10 star here! There is a bit of heat in the dish, yet the wok skill and flavours are just so well balanced, right level of curry for savoury richness, condiments all cooked and mixed well. I've eaten a lot of weak, bland and unbalanced Singapore fried noodles and I am impressed. This will be my staple dish here. They got me as a repeat customer after ignoring them for years.
