Buyer beware!!! I'm really not sure how this place has such a good rating, my experience with it was awful. We went there for a brunch on a Saturday afternoon and the experience was horrible. I ordered coffee (in an absolutely disgusting cup which is shown in the pictures) and the "Egg Haven BenedictS". In retrospect the fact that it's listed on the menu with an S at the end as though it was plural should have been my first red flag. When I ordered, the waitress asked how I wanted my eggs cooked. This was my first actual red flag. I expressed my confusion over the eggs not coming poached as they do everywhere else in the world she told me they can come any way I liked. I chose poached. In no time at all my meal arrived, but with fried eggs and covered in something that neither looked or tasted like hollandaise sauce. I explained the issues to the waitress who was very nice but attempted to tell me that "that's just how they do poached eggs here". We had a brief conversation about what poached means then I was able to re-order, this time choosing the sweet potato waffle and a side of ham. Personally I feel that the up charge for a slice of ham was a tad high but I can live with that. The second round of food was fine though nothing special. It is important to say that my companion had no issues with her meal but again the meal was nothing special. The icing on the cake was that they overcharged us (shown in the second photo). I can only assume that they thought they would not receive a tip so they added what they wanted to the bill without our permission or knowledge. When confronted with the manager was neither surprised nor was she apologetic. She handed us the difference in cash and we promptly left. I will NOT be going back. read more

Do yourself a favor and eat down the street at Lucille's. My wife, daughter, and I were waiting for a table at this place and some folks sat down without seeing the host. THE OWNERS FAILED TO ASSIST. I can see why this place won the peoples choice award from the Ledger. I absolutely loved Egg Haven, I came here to meet a friend for brunch. I ate the French toast with bacon. It arrived fast! We have all experienced the same old tried and tested national chains. We know what we get when we walk into a McDonald's, Burger King, Denny's or Appleby's. What sets the Egg Haven apart is that small town charm, mixed with good tasting food, friendly service and small town prices. Please understand, I did say the food was good - really good - but it is not great. You will not leave this place thinking, "This is the best tasting breakfast I have ever had!" But you will leave fully satisfied, content and happy... and your wallet will be happy for it too! This is a community place. It is a family place. It is what happens if 'Cheers' was a neighborhood restaurant. Plus, there is that extra satisfaction you get knowing part of that bill you just paid for your meal is helping a family send a kid to school and keeping a roof over their head and not lining the pocket of yet another nameless, faceless corporation. In the couple times I have been there, I took the time to just sit back and observe the place... the workers, the customers, the atmosphere, the overall feel of the place. Sure, it might seem a little dingy and - to the minds of some - it could use a little modernizing and "sprucing up," but you need to look beyond that. Egg Haven is Winter Haven in many aspects of the sentiment. It has the charm, inner beauty and hospitality that has won the hearts of most anyone who has ever come thru the city. Very much like Pepe's in Key West, it should be a crime (figuratively speaking) to spend time in Winter Haven and never enjoy a breakfast or lunch at the Egg Haven. ----------------------- On a side note, the last time i went to the Egg Haven, there was an elderly woman in her 80s or 90s. The way she moved and the way seh ate reminded me of a sloth... yes, she was that slow and chewed the exact same way! She was also not all there, if you catch my meaning. The notable part was the waitress. Although the old woman was obviously not alone, the old man accompanying her was doing the best he could to handle his own self and did really have the ability to look after the old lady too. It was a very sweet sight, but very sad too. The waitress knew this woman's name and she was right there anytime the old woman looked like she needed anything or possibly may need help. The care and concern for her customer was priceless. I also noticed a similar sentiment and sincere concern for the happiness and well-being for all the customers. This place is a hole in the wall, I want to keep to myself but I can't! It had absolutely the best ambiance! Our server Eddie was absolutely amazing, with quick service and great conversation! The food was fantastic! Honestly the best home fries, I've ever had!! I got a full order of French toast, it was so filling and delicious(I should've went with the half but no regrets) My 6 year old loved the sausage gravy, eggs and bacon, that's a big win especially when he clears the plate! My SO, got the sirloin steak and eggs, he was ready to order another to go! They also have a drive thru, super convenient for those not trying to sit but still leave with amazingly fresh food! Someone said the inside was cold, which was slightly true so bring a jacket if you get cold quickly, it wasn't too bad because the place was packed with locals and the conversation was flowing at every table but they have a lovey outside patio with about 4-5 tables loaded with chairs! So bring an empty stomach because you'll leave full from food and warm from the homely servers! We will be back every time we visit!! read more

What a great place to stumble upon. The fried pork chops were fantastic especially with their cream gravy. The scrambled eggs were made to my specifications and the has browns were crisp. This is a cute little mom and pop breakfast place that used to be an old wendys. I came in one morning with my boyfriend and we were told to pick a seat, and serviced immediately. I got the corned beef hash with my eggs over medium and hash browns. My boyfriend got the potato Benedict, which was just potatoes, sliced ham and hollandaise sauce. I ordered from this little place for the first time and WOW, Was I impressed! Not saying the simple egg/meat/bread breakfast I ordered was phenomenal, or anything like that.
