Long story short... - The service was fast and friendly, and got exactly what I ordered. - Food came quickly and was hot, as expected. - Food was very good - I had a huge corned beef omelette, hash, browns and a biscuit. I prefer their way of doing hash browns, the potato cut into thin slices rather than in small cubes - I find the cubes often don't cook all the way through. It's not cheap. My bill was $24, tip included. I think $3.50+ is high for coffee, even with free refills. But, considering how good the food was, I'll pay it. I will be back. read more

Upon entering we knew things had changed. No longer did it feel like a country diner or someone's kitchen. But a clean fresh start is always welcome in my book. The place was clean but ambiance had changed for sure, it had no personality . It was relatively empty for 9:00 am on a Sunday morning but thought maybe we just hit it right. The server came over for a beverage order as our friends had already arrived. I ordered decaf and was informed it would take 10 minutes because it wasn't made. I was ok with that and said I'd look at the menu. She miraculously arrived with my partners coffee and my coffee a minute later and said she was mistaken about the decaf. My friend had ordered tea but when the tea selection came there was no regular tea. When asked if she had plain tea the server stated that due to "old people" they had to stock other tea. When we told her she could take the teapot away she responded she'd "Get it later" and walked away without the teapot and cup. Not a great start. Breakfast was ordered and she repeated the order, which made us happy to assure the order was correct. When breakfast arrived a short time later the server handed the plates across the table in front of the other diners instead of our side of table and we had to reach across to get them despite the fact that there was nobody at the table next to us. She probably needs some additional training. I had the western omelette with cheddar cheese which was an upcharge, but if I pay extra I expect an ample amount of cheese which did not happen. It was good, not great. I had the biscuit but it basically fell apart when I picked it up. A little disappointing. The potatoes were not seasoned and a bit blah from a flavor standpoint. My partner had eggs over and the same potatoes and toast. When the plates arrived at the table the server informed him the rest of his toast was on another diners' at our tables plate. Strange. When clearing the table my partner asked her to take his plate from our side of the table and she refused and we had now pass our dirty plates over the other diners at the table. Overall a disappointing visit. From what WAS PREVIOUSLY a warm inviting place, and great service with a smile has turned to a mediocre overall experience. read more

Southeast is an excellent place to eat and, we have been eating there for years. They were under renovation when the last hurricane hit Winter Haven and it did a lot of damage. When they reopened, the food was still great and the facility was basically new. They always appreciate their customers and treat them well. I ate here for the last time. The place is over priced compared to other places in the area. The food is so so. The reason I will not be returning is the lack of ethics. I and my wife order each a breakfast that was $12.99 in the menu , but when the bill came they were $13.53 each. When I questioned it I was told they offer a discount for cash. Since when is a discount getting the price stated in the menu? I get the idea of giving someone a lower than menu for cash, but charging a higher then menu price is just wrong! Quick Update: Diners BEWARE!! This restaurant cares NOTHING about you or any of their customers. Long story short; for the sum of $9, which we refused to pay because our order was wrong and they wanted $5 to add gyro meat to their "Greek omelette." The owner notified the police, who filed a case with Florida's Atty. General, charging us with a dash and run. Mind you, we sipped a couple sips of coffee and noticed the omelette was missing gyro meat. We left $10 for the coffee, but that wouldn't do for the owner. If could give them 0 stars I would. One star is generous. We ordered Greek omelette. Not knowing they have 2 kinds! Their Greek omelette has tomatoes and feta cheese in it. That's it. The gyro Greek omelette is what a normal Greek omelette has in it. Gyro meat, tomatoes, feta cheese and onions. Rather than redoing the omelette, the cook wanted to charge $5.00 to give us gyro meat. Whoever heard of such a thing! Obviously the customer is not considered very important here. Any reputable restaurant will make sure the customer is happy. We gave them $10 for our coffee. They insisted we pay the $19 charge for an omelette we didn't want! We left with threats that they'd report us to police. They wrote down our license number. Good luck with that! How about looking out for your paying customers? Don't waste your time or money here. The food is expensive at $15-17 for any omelette. Much better places in Winter Haven for great food, reasonably priced food and great customer service. Just beware of this horrible restaurant. read more

My mom and I went to grab some food at this place, this is her review. So...Micayla & I ran to grab some food. Half way through my salad I find a bug. I politely tell the waitress and she said she will tell the manager. She returns (much later) with our chicken (I figured that would be safe since it was fried). Mediocre food, horrible service and when the bill came it was the full amount! I was in shock. So I asked her to at least remove my meal and I would gladly pay for . She said I will talk to the manager and let you know. She returned and said that since my salad was included as part of my meal and the bug wasn't on my meal food (that was paid for) all they could do was remove ONE drink! Southern comfort food and southern hospitality, can it get any better? I don't know, but Southeast Eatery does it right. Like previous reviewers have stated, portion sizes are generous and service is amazing. You walk in, they smile, and then you're seated. Maybe you have to wait a little like my group of six did, but we came at peak hours and didn't wait longer than ten minutes. It's loud and raucous, but the good kind. Everyone, from the kitchen and restaurant staff to the patrons are happy. You can literally feel the goodwill the moment you walk in the door. Inside, the diner has a bit of an eclectic feel. It's like a typical American diner, with a Mediterranean feel almost. Though that may be the influence of the Greek owners. Did I forget to mention that Southeast Eatery is owned and operated by the same people who own Manny's? That's guaranteed good food. lol. During this particular visit, I had the Cheeseburger Platter, which came with amazing waffle fries. I swear, they were like Chik Fil A, Arby's, and Checker's fries combined. While visiting my Mother in Florida,we stopped in for a little breakfast. From the outside,the building doesn't look like much,dare I say sort of run down. Inside was ok. Well lit but sort of old looking. Was greeted upon entering and seated immediately. The waitress was friendly and pleasant. She did return twice to check in and offer more drinks. I ordered the Dieter's Delight Egg White omelette. Containing spinach, tomatoes oinions I don't remember what else was inside. Also included was 4 slices of round ham steak. I ordered an additional side of potatoes. However when the waitress brought over our meal,she forgot the potatoes! I scooped some up from my Mother's plate. The flavor of the eggs with the veggies are worth going back for,soft hot and delicious. The ham and potatoes were very warm and cooked well with a perfect texture to both. The prices have increased 30% since covid. Coffee is now $3. I had 2 eggs, grits and bacon. It was $9.99. They have out priced fixed income seniors. My total was $33 which included tip. This is a decent spot if you can't find a Waffle House. The service and food are about the same as that franchise. The waitresses are friendly and helpful. The breakfast food was satisfying but not especially tasty. I had the French toast combo and my mom had a gyro wrap. She didn't eat her meal and didn't enjoy the food. I ate my entire meal and like I mentioned it was satisfying but not flavorful or tasty. I didn't see the racial pictures of African Americans(I hadn't seen that review beforehand or we probably would not have come at all). Everyone was friendly and the food came out quickly and very hot. No complaints but I probably wouldn't need to experience this place again either. read more
