Very good but overly friendly. I'd never been here before and glad I stopped in. I had the steakette burger with fries, and it was super tasty. However I think I threw my server for a loop, at least based in her reaction, when I said no ketchup on my burger. I was a bit overwhelmed by the attention paid to everyone. Someone would circle the seating area checking on everyone. As soon as they were done, someone else would make the circle. As soon as they were done, someone else. Goodness it was so overwhelming. I could barely get a bite in before some else asked how it was. Relax, let me enjoy it. My only negative, they are cash only. I looked around and did not see that posted anywhere. Thank goodness I had just enough cash to pay.

This hidden gem has been around since 1951 and is still going strong. It has an old fashion diner vibe. There were a steady amount of customers coming and going. I ordered the shrimp basket and was pleased with the quantity and quality of food. I was too full to have the ice cream, which they are well known for. I will be back for just dessert the next time I am in the area.

I'm gonna update my review from 12 years ago. Andy's Igloo is an institution and deserves 5 stars!!! Please never change, Andy's! You own a huge piece of my foodie heart. I've been coming here since I was little and they've never changed. The food is solid, ice cream is fantastic, and vibes are immaculate. The nostalgia takes you back and just reminds me of all the best parts of my childhood. Now that I've grown up, left Winter Haven, and traveled the world -- nothing hits like a root beer float from Andy's Igloo when I come back to visit. Even visitors I bring agree that Andy's is a treasure; my friend said the Pineapple Milkshake here is the BEST milkshake he's ever had. I didn't even know they had that on their menu, but I'm glad to see that even non-locals can recognize the power Andy's holds. Service is always fantastic! The waitresses are always the sweetest and friendliest people. I love how the ice cream window opens late (11p). They are still cash only; you can use their ATM if you forget your money. 100/10 -- no notes.

Andy's is one of our favorite places to visit in Winter Haven. The food is always delicious, especially the cheeseburgers. Homemade ice cream is the perfect ending to any meal here, or have a shake with your meal. We had the Chocolate Brownie Suicide for dessert. It was amazing! The service was wonderful. The atmosphere is fun. A must stop in Winter Haven, Florida.

Chicken wing basket with double fries

I'll do quick highlights first. Cons: -Cash only (no signage or notice) -Bland fries -Poor observable treatment of staff by management Pros: -Very Attentive staff -Great chicken wings -Awesome sundae/milkshakes - Very Affordable -ATM w/ $2 charge ------ I arrived here around 7pm on a Saturday with my 2 sons after a FULL day at Legoland. When arriving, I noticed the parking lot was pretty full. Once inside, we were told we could sit anyway and chose a booth at the front. A waitress came and took our drink order and returned swiftly with drinks. They have menus on the table. They do not have a kids menu but have kid friendly items such as hot dogs, chicken nuggets, chicken tenders, and burgers. I ordered kids food about 7:09pm. One got a hamburger basket and the other got a hot dog basket; the basket comes with fries and coleslaw but they didn't get the coleslaw. I ordered my food at 7:13pm. I got the chicken basket with double fries (vs coleslaw) and hushpuppies. I originally wanted a fish and shrimp combo but that's not one they already have. By the time I ordered my food, teamwork and attentiveness be effectively demonstrated by staff. While looking over the menu, there were 3 different people that came over to ask if I had ordered or if I was ready to order. In my opinion, this is a pro and con. I dislike it, in a way, because I don't have a designated person, which is nice to have. Around 7:25pm, another female staff asked we had ordered and I said yes. I asked for a sweet tea and it was brought to me promptly. I think this person was the owner or manager as I observed them assigning tasks and having a leadership role during my time there. The kids food came at 7:27pm and they enjoyed it, as expected. While waiting for my food, I observed some tension between kitchen staff and the female owner/manager several times. I heard one kitchen staff say "I am doing... (xyz) why are you yelling at me". Around 7:37pm, i let someone know I was still waiting for my food. Then I heard the owner/manager fussing the kitchen staff about my food and I honestly felt bad :( I received my food at 7:39pm. It was very hot. The fries were very plain as lacked seasonings, including even salt. I did ask if they had seasonings available (other than salt/pepper) and was told there wasn't. I added salt but it barely helped. The hushpuppies were average, in my opinion. The chicken wings, however, were SPECTACULAR! I haven't had fried chicken in a wild and it did NOT disappoint ! It was fried perfectly with an amazing crispy and it was seasoned well. I ordered sundaes for my kids at 8:09pm. One got a peanut butter one and the other got a marshmallow one. The server asked if they wanted whip cream and nuts. One said they wanted whip cream and the other wanted both. They arrived around 8:13pm with whip cream and sprinkles (no nuts). My kid brought it to the attention of the server when he came to check in. The server offered to make him another one, but I told the server it was no need because he was almost done and didn't need another sundae. At 8:42pm, I ordered myself a regular sized strawberry and blueberry Milkshake. I needed to wait until my food digested because I was stuffed! I didn't even eat all my fries. My shake promptly arrived at 8:45pm. It did not disappoint. I took it to go. After eating, you must pay at the register. The checks are handwritten with the price, like typical diners). Unfortunately, that is when I found out that they ONLY accept cash or checks. There was no conspicuous signage on the door/entrance that indicated that. There is an ATM on site for customer use. It does have a $2 charged. Since there were 4-5 different servers that assisted me during my visit, I inquired with one server how does the tip work. I was told that all the tips go on a "pot" for them all to share, which is understandable and makes sense due to the fact they aren't necessarily assigned tables and serve all the customers. My only thought/concern was how it works for those employees whose shift ended and they left... Overall, it was a positive experience. The food was affordable. My only complaints were the unseasoned fries and the way the owner/manager talked to the staff... it was horrible. The kitchen isn't a closed off area, so you can see and hear in the kitchen. I will note that she (owner/manager) was very nice and friendly to myself and all the other customers.

Important to note: this restaurant is cash only. Visited again today. It was totally full when we got there today a bit after noon. We sat at the bar until a booth opened up. My husband had the large sized fried shrimp basket (comes with 10 shrimp, fries, Cole slaw, and hush puppies). I got the super burger with fries. The burger was delicious and the crinkle fries were hot and fresh from the fryer. The shrimp was perfect. The service was friendly and excellent. We had some ice cream for dessert. The rocky road was great. The moose tracks was wonderful--lots of Denali fudge ribbons through it. So glad we came back.

Stopped here and glad we did. The ladies working were nice. I ordered banana split but the Bananas were too riped to use so they asked if I would like to substitute for banana pudding to get the banana flavor. I agreed and it was such a great decision!

    Christina S.

Staff wasn't super friendly but was helpful. Of course the two ice cream flavors that I wanted, neither were available. The inside is closed if you need to use the restroom or if you're looking for somewhere to sit, it's not gonna happen. Prices are super low and ice cream portions are great. It was very busy there, so it must be popular with locals.

Patrick brings food. At some point I leaned over to Ross and whispered, "Where is the original guy?? Did Patrick eat him??" Nope. SAME MAN. Sir is host, server, possibly chef, and I'm 90% sure he rotated the earth slightly to speed up our service. Patrick sold me on the Prime Rib sandwich like a seasoned car salesman and I folded immediately. Ross got the loaded smokehouse sandwich because he likes to pretend he makes responsible decisions. The food came out fast and looking disrespectfully good. I blacked out somewhere between bite one and "I should stop." I did not stop. I have no regrets. My diet has filed a missing persons report. And let's circle back to Patrick--this man has the energy of three employees, a double espresso, and unresolved childhood dreams. I want whatever he's having. Mostly because I found out Patrick works Wednesday-Saturday... and apparently those are now my "nutritional delusion" days. Would 100% trust my GPS to ruin my plans again.

The outside patio is beautifully decorated with lights, tables and chairs and greenery with foliage to create that natural outdoor vibe. When you enter, it's like walking into a small home where you greeted and seated by a hostess or server. There's a main great room and 2 smaller rooms that have seating as well and ambiance lighting throughout for intimate gatherings. The bathrooms are clean and fully stocked with necessities. As for the food, I got the Brussel sprouts salad without goat cheese which was delicious . It was about the size of my fist for $13. I assumed it was more of a tasting menu. My mother got the gnocchi which was described as delicious but lukewarm in temperature. She loved the beet salad however and the side of sour dough bread. My dad got a 13oz steak with potato purée. His steak was good in flavor however he described it as a bit too tough, and could have been more tender. Since he is a retired chef of 40 years I value his input. My other family members ordered the egg yolk ravioli which seemed a bit of a strange combination but certainly worked out in flavor. The labneh that was with the beet salad was also paired and eaten with the sourdough bread which seemed to be a great idea. Unfortunately the bolognese pasta was not tender enough for my family's liking. If you like pasta that way then you should be just fine. Over all it was fine dining and good. If you would like to go to a place where the portions are a bit larger I would suggest another place. But this is a nice casual dining intimate place for any special small occasion. We went on the site ahead of time and our wait list wait was less than what they estimated. I felt like that was a win. Also, our server was both attentive and pleasant and they were super slammed this Father's Day morning. And I need to back track just a little, because that first cup was really good and then they brought out a new pot of the First Watch dishwasher coffee that I have grown accustomed to. So there is that. We ordered two has meals. I got the summer special hash which had a Mexican inspired theme. The flavors were great, especially the queso. The meal was a tad above room temperature which had me thinking it had been sitting. Especially because the over easy eggs were luke warm. The other hash was about the same. Overall the food was not so good, especially for the price. But it was edible and I finished mine and it filled me so mission accomplished. Honestly though no where near amazing and other than it's uniqueness, a visit to Denny's or IHOP would have done just as good and for about a little over half the price. Still though our server was Dynamite and if it weren't for her I would be giving two stars instead of three. If the coffee didn't revert back to its weak state, it might have almost pushed it over 3 starts. Alas, here is where we are.

The cheeseburger with bacon looked great but didn't live up to the appearance. It was kind of tasteless....even the bacon was disappointing. The onion rings were crisp and pretty perfect. Fish Filet was large and tasty although we really would have liked more tartar sauce. The Tater kegs were also large and tasty. It was nice sitting outside with view of the lake and boat activity. This place is absolute paradise for my Lego loving child. It's pirate themed and has epic Lego creations. My son loves the area where kids can play with Legos and it's nice for the parents too as it gives them a break. The food is served family style and you get a lot of bang for your buck as you can reorder as many things as you'd like. We chose the Pirate Platter which includes: a delicious salad with apples and pecan and honey bread upfront, then a platter of assorted meats such as brisket, steak, sausage, chicken, and ribs. The brisket is our favorite. It comes with green beans, mashed potatoes, and mac and cheese. I really wanted to try some of the vegan platter so they brought that out for me at no extra charge. For dessert, we got a pan cookie with ice cream as well as the vegan chocolate fondue with fruits and marsh mallows. All of this unlimited for only $39 per adult and $19 per child with drinks included. Delicious and such a fun dinner experience! Since I stayed at the hotel, I also came here for breakfast as it is included in the stay. Breakfast is the same across all three Legoland hotels. It's also served family style and includes scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, biscuits, gravy, French toast or pancakes. You can add fruits, yoghurts, cereal, oatmeal at no up charge. She let us pick off both options. We ordered the pirate one which is BBQ choices and we got some of the sea dog options for the seafood side. So sweet. We first got our bread. It was good. Tasted like a yeast bread. Came oiled and with sweet butter. It also came with a salad as well for the table which had cheese, tomatoes onion and greens. The salad dressing was light and sweet. The main food came. It came with ribs, flank steak, pulled pork, brisket, beans, string beans, macaroni and cheese, mashed potatoes, sausage, and shrimp. 3 sauces came with it, regular bbq, mango bbq and mustard. The mango bbq had real mango in it. Now, preface by saying I understand this isn't a 5 star Michelin chef meal and I wasn't expecting much. However, this was actually very good. The steak was very good. Not dry. The brisket was good. The ribs were good not dry. The pulled pork was dry. The salmon was good, The shrimp was good, Sausage was good, the string beans were ok, the macaroni was very heavy but good and the mashed potatoes were good. Overall I was very impressed. Then for dessert came our chocolate chip covered ice cream with heath bar bits. So very fattening.

For me, the biscuits are delicious (we should always request extra since the kids like it.) I also like the vegan sausage. The kids like the bacon and sausage and sometimes the French toast sticks. Nobody likes the eggs. My husband loves the biscuit and gravy (the gravy has pork) and liked the potatoes. The coffee is atrocious, be warned. You might as well make it in the room and bring it. There is a Lego place for the kids at the back of the restaurant. The kids love the Lego area and it buys us some peace and quiet. Our server was fantastic. Service can be hit or miss, but I really liked ours this morning. We got there at 9 am and it was about a 25 minute wait. If it's free you might as well do it, if you don't get it free with the room you should skip.

We came for breakfast while staying in Legoland and we really loved the family style food service!…read moreThe food was very good and fresh (our favorite was the breakfast potatoes and the biscuits), it was quick, our server was very nice and helpful! We really enjoy the fresh and hot coffee in the morning! One of my favorite parts is that is all decorated with lego things and has a play area for the little ones so they get to eat and enjoy as well... win-win for all the family! Tip: they serve you for the whole table but if you want more they will keep it coming also they have extra sides like yogurt and oatmeal that you can ask as well!
