Best breakfast place in Wichita, Kansas! Such a fun vibe when you walk in and staff has always been great. Everyone is always so welcoming and friendly. They do have a few tables outside. It is a very small area and they pack everyone in, so if that bothers you this might not be the place for you. I do think they would be even more successful if they could get a bigger place. The food is absolutely amazing. Mimosas, Bloody Mary's and Lavender haze are so yummy I just wish the mimosas were bigger. Potato's are seasoned so good. I used to go to Egg-Cetera a lot about 8 years ago when I worked downtown. Since then, they've redecorated to match the other hip breakfast spots downtown, but it appears only the wall-decor has significantly improved. Here's my take: 1. The service is great. It's well-staffed and if one waiter is busy, someone else will check on you. There was little-to-no wait time at 9:30/10:00 AM on a Saturday, but it is packed tight and noisy, with T95 on the radio and kitchen noises a half wall away. 2. Do be aware that you will leave the building smelling like fried food. The kitchen is still open to the dining room, so that hasn't changed. It's not a big deal but I mention it in case it bugs you. 3. We shared BYO blueberry pancakes (they forgot the blueberries) with strawberries and bananas on top. This is not a compote, there is no whipped cream, it's just a meager, haphazard sprinkle of chopped fruit on 2 pretty standard pancakes. They were lightly dusted with powdered sugar and served with syrup and a homemade pumpkin spice butter dollop(?) that would be lovely on the sweet potato pancakes. They were perfectly decent pancakes but otherwise nondescript. 4. Build your own skillet = chopped up sausage patties, a tough biscuit, nicely cooked lightly seasoned house potatoes, a runny white gravy and a medium fried egg. My husband and I easily shared this as well and it was filling, but again, nothing to write home about. They don't seem to season this dish and bizarrely, fruit compotes are 2/3 of the gravy options. 5. The delicious quiche Lorraine I used to get here is gone, but they still have Waldorf salad, which is nice. I'm told that the more Tex/Mex options are better but I'm not sure I'm excited enough to come back to find out. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Basically, we went here because we were downtown and Doo-Dah and Homegrown had hour wait times and First Mile Cantine (while delicious) was a little above our price range today. The Beacon and its greasy-spoon chapter-book menu is typically our standby, and I think for my $30, I'd have preferred their corny lighthouse collection and unpretentious [still unseasoned] diner fare to a bougie brunch spot with food that doesn't live up to its hip interior decorating. read more

Me and my wife came in for brunch last week and had an incredible time. They were very busy but we were greeted quickly, seated, and got our drinks. Food was amazing, Rachael our server was the best we've seen in a while. If you're hungry I recommend a omelette and French toast. I can put down a lot of food and I almost couldn't finish it. The staff here was very friendly, multiple people checked on us and got us whatever we requested. The food also came out very quickly, which is great. My only negative review of the food was that it was bland. I ordered a Breakfast Burrito and the Salsa that they serve with it tastes like watered down pizza sauce, it had absolutely no spicyness to it. Absolutely delicious breakfast! We were in town for a show and grabbed breakfast before leaving town. The coffee is so good. Amazing pancakes and i loved the salmon bagel. Top notch breakfast potatoes. Everybody at our table loved their food. Knocked down one star only cause it took almost 45 minutes to get our food with a totally full dining room. Waffle with chocolate chip "inclusions" had approximately 6 chips sprinkled on top, and bananas on top were past their prime, gross & slimy with black middles. The main issue is NOT having sugar free syrup. To offer waffles, pancakes, and french toast and not offer a sugar free syrup option is not okay. My diabetic dad now has to leave hungry & waste food that he can't eat because this restaurant doesn't offer the (simple) appropriate accommodations that they should absolutely consider. As a fellow food industry worker, I understand that you can't anticipate everything but this is an extremely common accommodation & I am disappointed in the service and lack of care we received this morning. Why am I giving a diner styled breakfast / brunch place 5 stars? Because, in its category, this place just knocks it out of the park. As most people have mentioned the place is indeed clean and presents with a nice atmosphere. I ordered the Egg Benedict with Canadian bacon. That was just okay. The hollandaise sauce did not have any flavor at all, it seemed like just a gravy on top, not contributing to the taste. The muffin was not toasted which made it spongey and hard to cut. My friend ordered a quiche which was quite tasty. Considering it was unnaturally steaming hot, like it was microwaved. Both came with a side of nicely seasoned potatoes grilled with onions, that was my favorite part of the meal! The service was slow. They did give me the wrong quiche mine was suppose to be the spinach bacon and swiss but it was the veggie one... I missed not having the meat but the quiche was still good. Fresh and tasty. I got their house pancakes with scrambled eggs, bacon and hash browns. The hashbrowns were super crunchy and too much for my taste. Im use to a lil crunch but still able to have some softness in it.
