I got both my eyebrows AND lips tattoo'd by Judy. I might just be crazy lol but her work is undoubtedly top notch! I don't have a good before and after of my eyebrows but here is her amazing work on my lips! They have a ton of hyper pigmentation and yet she was STILL able to bring them to life. HUGE SHOUTOUT TO SELENA FOR MAKING MY EYEBROWS LOOK THE BEST THEY'VE EVER LOOKED! I am honestly awful at maintaining my eyebrows and I don't really know how to do makeup. This is the second place I've come for my brows and they are amazing. I have had my eyebrows tattooed for over 6 years and I'm good about touching them up yearly. I was happy enough with my original artist but she could never get my eyebrows to look balanced. I thought, well my face isn't even so why should I expect my brows to be? I'm so happy I came to Effortless PMU after doing a lot of research as the quality she puts in her work and price she has really set her apart from the competition in the area (and surrounding areas!). Judy was very nice and all but this was a work that was done from her in previous years. She cuts her blade way too deep and it's been quite some time and I have bad residual scarring from it. She was also not well adverse in her technique has she used blades that were too big and not enough mini strokes. Even with time and exfoliation it never went away, she even had the temerity to email me a year later to do touchup with her as a renewal client. Not the best work you can get around LA. I needed a touch-up but Judy ended up redoing my brows. To say the least, they look so amazing. The best part is that I barely spend any time touching them up in the mornings. Let's talk about the recovering process. I was anticipating a process of scabbing, itchiness, irritation b/c that's what I had gone through the first time, but my brows healed in a week! I followed her steps of cleaning and applying the serum daily, but did not expect my brows to heal in miraculous speed. I barely experienced any itchiness, and the scabbing lasted only two days and was hardly noticeable. Something that I was dreading from last time. The whole experience was truly effortless. I'm writing this review about 2 months after my second session. Overall I can't say enough good things about my experience with Effortless. I wanted to get permanent makeup but had 3 major concerns: are there people who specialize/can work well with deeper skin tones, have they worked with Black/African American clients, and do services exist that look like your brows but better? The answer is a resounding YES to all questions and I couldn't be more pleased with the results. Booking is very easy online and Judy is extremely kind and attentive. She started the service by explaining the combo brow, taking before photos, and outlining the dimensions. She started by going over the initial shape with a first pass and then applied the numbing cream. The initial pass does sting a bit maybe a 2.5 on the pain scale but once the numbing cream is on you feel nothing. I loved the results after the first appointment and used the gel Judy provided to help the wounds heal. She gives a detailed instruction sheet upon departure and you are able to book your next appointment immediately. Should have made this review a while ago so here I go!! 5 stars all around and Judy herself deserves 6 stars! I used to really enjoy my eyebrows. Obviously I would have to fill them in every morning, but I was absolutely fine with the shape/look. Then, my sister went to Judy around 1.5 years ago and came back with amazing brows and I become super interested in microblading. I was hesitant at first to make an appointment, because I thought my brows were fine and I have low pain tolerance, but I decided to try something new. In short, I can never look back again!!! Judy is absolutely amazing!! & my brows look so natural, soft, and about 10x better than they were before. The whole process was very simple. I texted Judy first with a photo of my bare brows and she recommended that I go with Ombre brows. The scheduling system online was super easy and I even got a reminder a couple of days before my actual appointment. When I went in to the studio, I didn't really know what to expect, but after looking at the photos on instagram (@effortlesspmu) and of course my sister's brows, I knew I could completely trust Judy's judgement and just let her work her magic! I thought my brows would just look like the way I fill them in every morning, but Judy turned me into a whole new gal! She filled in my brows so naturally and lifted them at the ends so I wouldn't look so sad/worried all the time (I didn't even know my brows were making me look sad!). For the heeling process, I have thin and really oily skin so my brows were a bit light the first time around, but after the touch up they started to look a lot better. Judy is also great and checking in on you during the heeling process so you can ask her any questions if you're worried about anything. All I will say is that Selena is awesome. She works 100% with care and detail. I had gotten my eyebrows done with another artist earlier last year but they were too dark, thick, and uneven. I was devastated. The original artist couldn't do saline removal so I thought I would have to painstakingly wait for my brows to fade (if it will even fade)... until I found Effortless PMU. I messaged Selena on IG and I came in for a free consultation. She assessed my brows and informed we could try saline removal but it could take several sessions. She was very knowledgeable and explained the process of the removal and also that it would be a bit uncomfortable/painful. They had a deal for 3 removal sessions so I opted for that since I knew my brows were heavily pigmented. The actual saline removal procedure was indeed uncomfortable and a little painful, but it wasn't impossible. Selena was very careful and was aware of my pain tolerance. She would take a few seconds break in between with the needle in case I needed to sneeze (brows are very close to sinus) and added numbing cream here and there to help with the overall process. I've only done 3 sessions so far but I am very satisfied with the removal process. My brows have become significantly lighter and I do plan on having a few more saline removal sessions before Selena can work on the coverup for my brows. I first found out about Effortless PMU on Instagram from an influencer I follow & I loved her brows (even before I knew they were powder ombré), then when she gave a shoutout to Effortless on her page - I knew I HAD to check them out! Needless to say, after thinking it over for just a few days and seeing her work on her Instagram page and her website, I scheduled my appointment with Judy (my first appointment was about a month out). I love her style, making sure the brows are not too dark or look "made up". My typical look is pretty much makeup-free (especially since we're still wearing masks, here and there) so I wanted to make sure my brows looked natural and did not look too bold for me. I considered micro blading in the past but did not want my brows to be too dark, so it always deterred me from getting them done. I was nervous about the pain when it came to the powder ombré procedure but it was almost negligible! It feels like a scratching sensation when she first outlines your brows (no local anesthetic), my left brow was a little more sensitive than the right, but still not bad. After she applied the numbing cream & worked on my brows, I fell asleep and did not wake up until it was over! In the days after my first and second sessions, Judy would check up on me via text and was always responsive to any questions I had! My brows healed perfectly, barely any scabbing. Judy provides you with a gel and instructions on how to care of your brows in the 2 weeks after your procedure. I'm pretty low maintenance when it comes to my appearance but I love how I don't need to do my brows every morning anymore, I don't know how much time it's saved me but all I know is that it's sooo worth it! For someone who has ZERO tattoos and unbelievably sensitive skin (dermatographic urticaria), I worried about all sorts of swelling/redness/irritation, including the aftermath complications for the procedure of ombré eyebrows. The day I arrived, Judy kindly introduced herself and her students. The first hour was spent getting to know me as a client, and most importantly, my shape and color preference for my eyebrows. I immediately noticed how articulate Judy was with the instruction of every detail and angle of shaping my eyebrows while she taught her students that I felt comforted knowing I was in good hands. Once I was on the bed, she walked me thru each step of the procedure. After she passed the first layer, I fell asleep and was done before I knew it! Apparently my skin took the ink really well (no redness or swelling)! The healing process went so smoothly as I followed all of Judy's directions post-procedure to the T. Judy was so sweet to continuously check up on me throughout the 2 weeks of my healing process. I saw her again for my touch-up 6-8 weeks later, and voila, I'm done!
