Hey there Party People Effie's is a hidden gem that I was lucky enough to discover. You walk in the door and you get transported back to the elegance of the Film noir era. The restaurant has a great lounge feel that makes you crave an old fashioned Martini. Our waitress Gina was fabulous. She made you feel like you were coming over to a friend's house for the family meal. Super warm and inviting. I had the Monte Cristo. This was the most perfect Monte Cristo I have ever had in my 58 years on this planet. The sandwich had a delicate crispiness because of the egg batter. There was a large amount of turkey and ham with the perfect oohwe gooyee cheesey layer all wrapped together. If you have never had a Monte Cristo sandwich you MUST MUST make this your first. I got the potato salad as a side. It was like a taste of childhood. I know it sounds cliche but it was just like Mom used to make..delicious! My Hubby got the French Dip. I'll tell you he is a French Dip snob so for him to say it was Delicious is very high praise. There was a ton of meat which was perfectly lean. Nothing worse than biting into a hunk of fat. Not a problem here...no fatty bites in this sandwich. Also for those that crave a good horseradish you will be in heaven here, it's made in-house not watered down version here. Now that Effie's is on my radar I'll be coming here again and again. Be kind to one another

First time at Effie's and I ordered the Effie's skillet with poached eggs. The meal was on point and delicious. I done messed up the whole plate. The waitress Gina was very attentive and enhanced my experience. I definitely enjoyed the old decor and furniture. Was basically a blast from the past.

Breakfast specials until 11 AM Mon-Fri! Great choices at affordable prices. Quick service and fresh food. Recommend!

We had such a genuinely warm and welcoming experience at Effie's. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere felt inviting--like you're stepping into a place where people truly enjoy being there. During our visit, they celebrated a birthday and the entire restaurant joined in singing, which created such a lively, communal vibe. It really made us feel at home. Our waitress, Gina, was exceptional. She made direct eye contact, smiled, and spoke with us in a way that felt natural and attentive--not rushed or scripted. She even noticed my husband's Journey band shirt right away, which led to a fun conversation about live music and karaoke. When I asked, she let us know karaoke starts at 4 p.m.--such a fun touch. I also really appreciated the flexibility with the menu. I was able to order a fresh seafood omelette with scallops and shrimp, and it was absolutely delicious--fresh, flavorful, and cooked just right. Between the great food, upbeat energy, and genuinely kind service, this place checks all the boxes. Honestly, what more could you ask for? We'll definitely be back.

This is my last review for 2024. Effie's is a restaurant that has been in business for 30 years located at 331 W Hacienda Ave, Campbell, CA 95008. I have eaten here 5 times for breakfast, lunch and dinner and was really impressed with the quality and taste of the food. The prices are fair, service has been excellent thanks to the 3 servers I experienced, Michelle, Dan and Alfonso. Everyone works as a team, including the employees that buss. Although the restaurant has a rustic look to it, it is kept very clean. They have 3 restrooms (1 is ADA) and the restaurant was very nicely decorated for the holiday season (see picture). So why such a poor overall rating? Most of the ratings are over a year old and refer to the bar and Karaoke. A new owner came in July, 2024 and apparently made several positive changes. This review focuses strictly on the restaurant. So what did I like? Everything I tried including omelets (wow), pancakes (my favorite), turkey dinner (excellent stuffing), pasta, vegetables, soups, oysters rockafeller (amazing), chicken wings, and the list goes on and on. Honorable mention to their bakery cakes. Fabulous Desserts! I HIGHLY RECCOMEND Effie's!

An old relic with a throwback vibe. I wasn't expecting much at this place. It looked like a place from generations prior like an American grandmother's house. Despite the decor, the food was really good. I had Effie's special breakfast which was really inventive. A twice baked potato with omelette filling. It was a pretty big plate for $18. The service was excellent. Although I felt bad because the only ppl eating there are older seniors. Please support this place because it deserves a shot!

Me and Gina. She's great at her job, makes all of us feel right at home and we are always laughing!!

Unfortunately I do not remember what I had...except for one that had "absinthe" which was obviously the fake American version of it. Each cocktail has a very thorough description so you can pick and choose to your liking. Every cocktail was about $17 each. Which is pricey! but that's how it is these days. But you should be assured the quality here is real good. I had to dock 1 star for the interesting choice of leaving the emergency door ajar all night the time i went. While it did help with the steamy temps inside, wow did it ruin the night for those who sit close to the door! It was very cold and windy so maybe leaving it too open was an uninformed choice. Parking is tricky, it's mostly street. There's some residential areas you can park at if you don't mind walking farther. Definitely going back, but a little farther away from the door next time.

The crab was very fresh and each crostini had a large portion of crab on top. The Brussels sprouts were very crispy and very umami with the cheese and bacon combination mixed in. The empanada was honestly a showstopper. I don't know how to describe it other than you have to try it. Both pastas were good but I prefer the mushroom one over the short rib ragu. The halibut was also good, and the basil sauce made it even better. I was already super impressed with everything but I think the stars were the 2 desserts. The Dubai cheesecake was an Italian style cheesecake, so it was a lot lighter than I was expecting (which was welcomed) and captured the essence of Dubai chocolate without being too overwhelming. The Lira in Wonderland was also SO good. It had a crown of cotton candy and was a mix of biscoff cookies, dehydrated red velvet cake (don't knock it till you try it), butterscotch sauce, and strawberries. I was honestly blown away by this meal.

This was supposed to be a special birthday dinner date that my husband meticulously planned for me,…read morebut it turned into the most horrendous dining experience I've ever had. We dined at Lira on November 14th. The Service (or Lack Thereof): The Menu Shortage: We arrived for our 6:45 PM reservation only to be told by the manager that they didn't have enough menus. We were told they'd bring them "later." Ignored for 35+ Minutes: We sat with nothing but water for over half an hour. To make matters worse, a table of six was seated after us and received their full entrees while we were completely ignored. The Drink Mess: After 40 minutes, the server told me they were out of ingredients for my drink. When I picked a second option, she tried to insist I wanted a drink with celery (my most despised vegetable). We thankfully stopped her before it was made, but the incompetence was staggering. The Food Fiasco: An hour into our reservation, someone dropped off a scallop dish. A while later, a server asked if I'd "received the scallops yet," and I realized the plate I was eating wasn't even intended for our table. We were so starving that my husband and I just shared them. Once we finished, the server finally asked my husband if he "still wanted his meal or if he wanted to cancel it." I finally lost my cool - of course he still wanted his dinner! The Aftermath: My husband didn't realize that my friends had actually made a separate reservation to take me back to this same spot the following night for a second birthday celebration. After this performance, there was no way I was going to step foot in this building again or give them another cent of our money. I texted my friends from the table to cancel those reservations and book elsewhere. With service this disorganized and insulting, this restaurant won't be in business long. Super disappointing. Don't waste your special occasions here. *Edit - it looks like Lira has closed. With the service we experienced, I am not surprised in the slightest. I am hopeful that whichever future business occupies this space is more successful.

Orchard City Kitchen seriously nailed brunch…read more We went yesterday and ordered a mix of sweet, savory, and drinks, and every single thing hit. The cinnamon roll pancakes were insane, fluffy, and topped with a cream that made it feel like dessert in the best way. The KFC (Korean fried chicken) was perfectly crispy with so much flavor, and paired so well with the sauce. We also got the BBB (bacon, bread & butter), and the bacon alone was unreal thick, caramelized, and honestly one of the best parts of the whole meal. The tater tot poutine was pure comfort food but a bit overwhelming with the amount of gravy and cheese making everything much soggier than I liked. I'd definitely leave that dish behind next time. The spicy noodle dish with the jammy egg and chili oil sauce was also a hit. It was simple but packed with flavor and had just the right amount of heat for a good appetizer. We also got a jug of mimosas (strawberry guava + passion fruit mango), which were so good--light, refreshing, and perfect for brunch. The vibe was lively but still cozy enough to sit and actually enjoy your time. Overall, everything felt really intentional from the flavors to the presentation. Definitely one of those spots where you leave already planning your next visit. Overall the staff and food were on par definitely have made a repeat visitor out of me now.
