This is a long due update. Following my first disastrous experience (Nowhere management not accepting foreign passports as a form of I.D.), I still went back multiple times (after getting a California ID) and still do so when I travel to San Jose. It's one of the cheapest Dive Bar in the area offering very nice bar food at a very affordable price. Actually, it's probably the best place for American pizzas. The kitchen chef (Pad) makes some of the most amazing pies: The dough is made fresh from scratch very day. A huge plus for the veggie pizza. Patrons are super fun and friendly and bartenders are nice to chat with and they serve solid pours. They started bingo night recently. There is a jukebox, darts and a pinball machine. Make sure you pass by and say hi if you are in the area! read more

My brother from out-of-town and I went to my "normal" bar, but the place was unusually dead and the bartender was unusually annoying, so I asked him where we wanted to go and he said nowhere so we went. Tucked away in Cambrian Park, where I've lived for three years now, I assumed this place would be full of regulars and I was right. I met Preacher (Mike) who treated me like a regular immediately, even offering me a cup of ice after noticing I was resting my Michelob Ultra on my neck after a long day on the Truckee River. I even met a regular who coincidentally was the second owner of the bar from which we came. On a Sunday night, it seemed really mellow, much more than any other bar I've frequented in San Jose. The crowd was 45+, so it was nice to have the kids somewhere else, chasing their invisible Pokemons, posting videos of themselves contouring their large noses, and watching Oppenheimer on their phones. Anyway, I'm eager to come back when the place smells of pizza. read more

My dad has been taking me to this place for years. Even though I just turned 20 and haven't tried the bar yet, it's still such a fun spot. The food is absolutely amazing, and the chef is super nice. I love that it has an old-school bar vibe instead of all the modern stuff you see everywhere. They also have a pool table, and I have so many great memories there--always smiling with my dad. It's a place full of memories, including the first time my dad met my boyfriend. Now, we're about to celebrate three happy years together. read more

Great food great service. The bartenders are the best and very attentive and friendly and the owners are awesome. They hang with their patrons and make them feel comfortable and it is a very friendly environment with poo great food just so all-around great place to hang out. read more

They told me I could only speak English or get the F out Right after I tried to order a quesadilla. I can't say cheese on a tortilla because tortilla in Spanish too . If they can't speak it what makes them think a sign in English gonna help read more

Always had a blast over here. Some folks told me not to go here but tbh, it's been pretty awesome. We're regulars here now. People say it's racist, it's not. Yelpers said they don't like Asians but they seem to like me just fine. Those people are probably expecting an upscale experience when this is a dive bar. Guess if you're a dumbass, they'll probably treat you like a dumbass. read more

Best bar in San Jose in my opinion. No windows, primarily regulars, pool tables, music that will NEVER turn to rap or hip hop after 10pm, best food for a great price (infact I'd go as far as to say Pad whips up the BEST food of any other bar in or around SJ. And the bartenders are the absolute best. A lot of the bars around here have jacked their prices up so high that all of their regulars left. Nowhere has always maintained fair prices and Jen and Mike are the best tenders. I'll keep n coming back to Nowhere for as long as they'll keep letting me in!! read more

If you're looking for a dive bar experience, this would be a great place to visit. As someone who lives in the neighborhood for 17 years I felt compelled to check it out and have a beer here but I don't think I will return anytime soon. It just wasn't my thing. However it looks like it have regulars coming in so it must be appealing to some people read more

Little neighborhood bar near Good Samaritan hospital. Super convenient to grab a drink to help the stress of having a loved one in the hospital. They serve food, which is a bonus! 5 stars because WHY NOT?!?!? This place is very low-key and chill, filled with a friendly older crowd (at least when we went...on a Sunday at 3pm)! They have a Music Player for you to request songs, billiards tables, Sopranos Pinball machine, gambling machines (?), and an air hockey table. Oooh!! They also have a vending machine!! How badass is that???? It only takes $1 bills, though. ANYwho, the bartender Mike was nice and had a genuine smile, and the patrons were also very approachable. My friend and I had a great afternoon here doing some day drinking and shooting pool! I haven't tried their food yet, but they seem to have a good selection! read more

This rating is only for the food. It's a funky set up with a bar in the front and a cook in the back who operates a separate business. In terms of cooking meat, this guy is a true genius. I had one of the best French Dip sandwiches of my life. I live nearby and will definitely be back. read more

This is a cool dive bar to meet-up with friends in the Cambrian area. If you like stiff drinks at a fair price then this is your place. Ask for Mike the bartender to make you his famous Long Island. Tip: If the kitchen is closed they'll let you bring in outside food. Try the Mexican place next door or order a pizza from across the street. read more

My boyfriend likes to play pool. He craves a good dive bar that feels like family. I was on the fence the first several times I went here, but now I feel this place is a real jewel. The staff and patrons are always friendly so no worries of a fight breaking out. The last time I was there it was so cool. Its become a neighborhood joint now and I meet generational families from all over the globe and walks of life here and I specifically love when I see parents bring grandma in for a cocktail. This place just gets better and better. NOW for the major standout... FOOD! There is a super competent guy running a super fair-priced kitchen with a great menu. Its a decent-sized menu of American fare and Im partial to the hot turkey dinner, the chicken fried steak with mashed and country gravy, the ribs, and the pork tenderloins. Thats all I have tried though so I bet Id like the rest...and the prices are fantastic. The website has dated pics so the prices are not that cheap anymore but still WAY better than other restaurants with the same fare. If you ever have a need for a large family or even party amount of food, go here! Kudos to the cook. Oh and the drinks are good and cheap too. read more

My friend (Korean-American) and I (Chinese-American) have frequented here because we love the low key atmosphere. Our first few times, we've enjoyed conversations with the bartender ("Preacher") and some of the patrons. But that all changed tonight. My friend was chatting with the owner, when an innocent question came up about my friend's ethnicity (Korean). His response was that they (Koreans) have a "pan face". Unfamiliar with this term, we asked him to clarify. He responded with, "they look like they been hit in face with a pan to flatten their face". We were shocked! He would further say that Korean women (and Asian women in general) were commonly known to be prostitutes during the 1950's. I hate to break it to you, but we don't live in the 1950's anymore and those types of comments are completely inappropriate. There is absolutely no room or tolerance for those types of comments anywhere. Reading some of the other reviews, this wasn't an isolated incident of inequality. Perhaps Bob was just being straight-forward and speaking his mind. Regardless, his remarks were ignorant and should not be tolerated. It's too bad, because we really enjoyed it here. Now we'll take our business elsewhere. read more

One of the nicer neighborhood dive bars, hidden away from the main street. The outside is a bit intimidating. Looks like a the entrance to some sort of mini warehouse where cults gather...a bit dingy and uninviting. Decently equipped with pool tables, a jukebox and TV's. The bartender Mike is awesome. Haven't tried the food, only been here for drinks in the evening. My biggest problem with this place is they don't accept credit cards...CASH ONLY!!! read more

Went to Nowhere bar last week. It is a small local place with friendly patrons. As we were walking in, the "cook" was out front cooking ribs and chicken. It smelled incredible, so we purchased some. They were not expensive and were outstanding. The week prior I had went to the BBQ Rib Cookoff in San Juan Batista. These were better than those! A great little bar hidden on a side street. Low key and aninteresting group of people. drinks are good, but no pitchers of beer. When I was the The BArtender Mike was awesome and everyone there seemed to like him. The kitchen puts out some great food and there are pool tables, electrnic games and pinball to pass the time. A combo pizza here will not disappoint. The chef, "Pizza Pad", has that magic touch (everything fresh) for making a killer combo pizza! Not a bad place to hang out and shoot some pool. It was busy even at 3:00pm Sunday. They have about five different beers and they are all good. The IPA is pretty solid and the Arrogant Bastard was pretty Arrogant and kind of a bastard. This was good for Mother's Day. Be in the know that this place is not air conditioned and go to Nowhere to relax during the cooler days or go somewhere that is air conditioned if you must. What a concept it is to choose the between the two. read more

Update: the pizza is amazing, but the crowd leaves something to be desired. I know you shouldn't judge a place by its customers, but in this case it is a little hard to deny that some of the patrons make it downright uncomfortable to spend much time here. Don't know about some of the other reviews, but nothing scary about the people here. Went there for the first time yesterday to get some beer, ribs, and a burger. Beers are well-priced (happy hour $9 for a Blue Moon and an I.P.A.) and the bartenders were friendly. My girlfriend had the burger and fries, and I had the ribs. For $8 bucks you get a half slab of ribs, baked potato, and beans. The ribs were a tad dry, might try the bbq chicken next time. All in all, a great experience, two dinners and two beers for $24! Keep the place cash only if it keeps prices this low. All the patrons we encountered said hi and were friendly, so proceed with confidence to Nowhere Bar and Grill. read more

This is m my favorite pub to go solo, bring old friends and turn on new frends to this cool little bar restaurant. The service is fast and friendly. Micky and tracy are days. Pracher (mike) is the bar Mgr, biker and works nights. There's the weekend nite Bartender, ms Filomena.. They have 2 pool tables, pinball and airhockey. They are biker friendly, including colors and all and even have food! The best part is chef Pad, he is so accommodating, Weekends he does a great country style breakfast..you can get chicken fried steak & eggs with all the fixing for 6 bucks..if you feel like spoiling yourself you can get ribeye steak and eggs for 15. He does great pizzas. Sandwhiches, potstickers and fresh turkey dinners for 5,bucks! He bakes a fresh bird, makes stuffing and gravy from scratch and freshman potatoes. They have FRANK SINATRA JACK DANIELS!!!! This Frank Sinatra limited edition Jack Daniels is pricey (around $175 a bottle.) I have been to many "destination bars" and a lot more fancy dressed bars. A lot of my friends are Jack Daniels whiskey fans. I've asked for this whiskey at other places and they all said similar things like, "That is way to expensive for us." to "It is stupid to pay that much for whiskey." and so on. This neighborhood biker bar has it! Just shows you diamonds are usually found in the rough around an honest crowd. Yes, it is $17 a shot but if you want to taste this without buying an entire bottle, here is where to go. Also the kitchen has great food. Very good pizza! read more

This place might appear in inviting from the outside but once you open the door this place greets you as a warm, clean, and friendly spot to meet up with some friends and have a few good laughs. I recommend this place to every cool person in the area. Give it a try! read more

Ginormous screen cutting off the gaming area. Dirty pool tables and old arcade games now. A karaoke booth in the middle of the place makes it feel off and there is absolutely zero flow to the place. Even worse is a loud, obnoxious and unprofessional bartender named Patty. She is rude unless she's practically making out with "regular" male patrons. On several occasions that I've been there, I can walk up to an empty bar with maybe 1-4 patrons at the far end of the bar where Patty practically lives and gossips about people, and am made to wait for up to 10 minutes without even so much as of an acknowledgment from her. Sometimes Patty will walk by me a few times to get ingredients to make 2nd or 3rd drinks for her regulars and continue to ignore me. I think in the last 2 years she and I have only ever spoken once. Last time I was there, my drink was accidentally spilled by another patron. When we asked for a mop to help clean up the spill, Patty gruffly responded that the mop was being used for something else and continued to walk around the bar to greet more of her friends. It took nearly 5 whole minutes before she stomped over to our area with paper towels and while complaining audibly started to wipe up the spill. I offered multiple apologies and to help clean it up but was ignored. After the spill was wiped up, we noticed the floor was still sticky. My partner asked for some kind of cleaning solution and I got more paper towels and we finished cleaning the sticky floor. After the spill was resolved, we continued to play pool and decided we would play some music. Not more than 45 seconds into our first song choices, Patty turned the volume down to an almost inaudible level. But what really made our night & got us to stay until closing was the DJ. He was playing such fun music, took song requests, engaged with the crowd and you could just tell he really loves what he's doing!! Music is the biggest part of going out & if it weren't for the back to back bangers he kept playing I don't think we would've stayed as long as we did. DJ Richie Rich was his name & I hope Normandy's continues to book him because then me and my girls will definitely be returning!!!!

And it's a reasonable size- I don't feel like I have to expand my jaw to unreasonable sizes to enjoy a bit. I do wish they used yellow or white onions for the grilled onions instead of red onions as I hate red onions, but the burger was still good. I wish as much detail had been put into the fries as the burger. My husband and I shared the garlic cheese fries and they were incredibly disappointing. I expected actual garlic pieces in the fries. I think they just drizzled them in garlic oil. They were incredibly greasy and soggy. And the cheese on them was good, but it did not stick to the cheese and was not melted to them very well. I had a few, but they really weren't worth finishing. My husband rated them as "edible". This feels like the type of place that should be serving specialty type sodas or aguas Frescas. Mt husband was happy with his Arnold Palmer, I just got a regular fountain drink. The seating is very uncomfortable and it's very loud inside. As soon as I was done I hurried out of there as the environment is just overwhelming and seats unbearable. The pickles are good, but I wish they had less spice and were sliced in a way that made them easier to stack on the burgers. I'd definitely order a burger to go in the future. I don't think I'd waste money on fries again and I certainly would not want to eat in again.
