I have been going to Effective Bodywork for almost a year now. I can't express enough how much I appreciate this person and his business! My job entails many long hours and a lot standing and carrying things. Because of this I have the worst sciatic problems and recently a metatarsal issue. He not only relieves a lot of my pain, he also hits those pressure points that can hinder my ability to be as strong at work as I'd like to be. Don't go and expect all the frills. It's not a spa. I purchased a voucher for a 60 minute therapeutic massage on Groupon. A few days later, I purchased a second voucher for the same, as a gift for a friend. Some time passed over the summer and the reminders started coming in that redemption was required. The Groupon instructions were to call a specific number to schedule an appointment, refer to the voucher, then present the voucher at the appointment. I started calling a week ago. I called each day during the past week. Each time, I got a voicemail. Each time, I left my name, contact number, and mentioned that I was trying to schedule an appointment for a Groupon voucher. A week later, I still haven't received a return call and can never reach a live person on the phone. Now, the first of the two Groupons expires tomorrow. The second expires a few days later. I contacted Groupon and asked for a refund. They issued them for both, but here's the rub with them. I purchased one of the vouchers with a VISA gift card I received, you know, the type you discard after you've used all of the value. Groupon refunded back to the gift card which is long gone, so the money is completely lost. Do you keep your gift cards after you've used the value? Ever had a gift card and known who the issuer was? Even if you did, ever tried to get any quality service out of somebody who already has your money? Yeah, me either. So, here's where it stands. This business's inability to do something as simple as returning phone calls and scheduling appointments led to me losing my money. The massage might be great - and I wouldn't know since I could never reach anyone to schedule - but unless you're in love with the very real possibility of simply throwing your money away, avoid this business and go with someone who will allow you to schedule online or at least who answers the phone. read more

I purchased a Living Social promotion and was not impressed. The building did not have a sign out front and when I finally found the room it was not good. It was approx. 80 degrees, looked like a "make-shift" set up with a blow-up mattress, portable fan, etc...Needless to say, I called Living Social and asked for them to credit my account. Literally best massage I've ever had. He knows exactly how much pressure to use etc. my back was so sore and tense but I feel so good after going to him. It can be hard to find a good massage therapist who really knows what they're doing, so im really thankful i found this place. After visiting and enjoying the massage services at Massage & Facials Brookhaven, I left feeling relaxed, balanced, and at ease. After a pretty stressful semester, my shoulders and lower back needed some attention. Many of us use computers all day, and the staff at Brookhaven know how to help with problems we create everyday with poor posture and chronic computer use. This was the BEST massage I have EVER had. My body is generally very tight and I would consider myself to live a high stressed life busy with too many responsibilities (I know,not good...but I do); but Tristan worked all of that out, things I didn't know needed work.
