Located at the end of a strip mall, Edwin Watts Golf is a must-visit store for golf enthusiasts. I was greeted by the manager (Landon G.) upon entering, who made me feel welcome immediately. The store itself is neatly organized & well-stocked with a variety of golf gear. While the store is not the largest, the space is utilized well: neither overwhelming nor sparse. There is a great selection of golf bags, clubs, clothing, shoes, balls, and other accessories. Pricing is also very competitive and reasonable. My boyfriend tested new putters on the putting green and was ultimately torn between two different ones. Landon gave honest and informative advice on choosing between the two putters, without any sale-motivated input (i.e. more expensive isn't necessarily always better). Even while checking out, Landon made conversation with the both of us and was very friendly. He definitely made the experience at the store super personable & enjoyable. I cane upon the Yelp recommendations and they did not disappoint. I was greeted when I walked in by Jon, he's the club specialist. I told him I was looking for a used driver. He walked me over to their selections and asked what type did I need. He selected one for me to try out. He explained it was as also adjustable which was a big plus. It seemed to be a good deal for what I wanted to spend so I selected that one. He brought me over to the counter and showed me how to adjust it. Afterwards we started to settle up and I asked was this the best price. He then told me there was a 10% price discount today. That was fine with me. He was very knowledgeable and a great help as I am a novice when it comes to golf. I highly recommend them for your golfing needs. I will return for any more equipment as needed. read more

I bought my first brand new set of clubs from Edwin Watts in New Orleans in 2012 and enjoyed my buying experience. At the beginning of the year I had to pass on my clubs to my son since he began playing for his high school team creating an opportunity for me to purchase a new set ;) After looking around for golf stores in the area I was in I found another Edwin Watts location. As soon as I walked in the door Richard H. came right up to me asking if he could help me find anything. I informed him that I was wanting to look for a new set of clubs. He asked me if I had anything in mind and I told him the two brands and models I was interested in. Richard got me in the simulator and 2.5 hours later I walked out with a new set that I was confident with. I hit the two models that I was interested in and I did not hit them as well as another model Richard had me hit. The model that I purchased was actually cheaper and I hit them more accurate and farther than either of the models I intended on purchasing. Richard was thorough in evaluating my swing and making the adjustment needed to get me the right clubs. They are fantastic here! I came in looking to get some feedback on purchasing a new set of clubs. I've been improving my game a bit and was looking to upgrade from the set I had. They helped me try out a few clubs and were honest in suggestions without trying to be pushy and upsell. They even went out of their way to looking into some sets that were coming out that might better suit my needs and contacted me the next day after getting the requested info. I definitely recommend their fitting services with their indoor range with the digital reader. They have more than enough products to choose from from clubs & bags to clothing & shoes and will also special order anything that you might want if they don't have it available on hand. read more

Now this could be dangerous, I am no Tiger Woods but I do enjoy my golf and now I have found a really decent golf store about five minutes away from my office! Uh-oh, there goes the paycheck! I had been to around three or four previous stores before heading, on a friends suggestion, to Edwin Watts and I was pleasantly pleased with what I found. The previous stores either fell into the category of pushy sales guys trying to make their commission and not really listening to what I am after, or, useless as hell because they sell everything from tennis racquets to bleeding swimming trunks and none of the tellers know much a bugger all about golf! Edwin Watts was neither, I explained to the sales guy, who greeted me as soon as I entered the door but let me come to him for help as opposed to pouncing on me and telling me I needed the $1200 Ping irons just from watching how I held my stance as I entered the door??!! The sales guy really did know his stuff and when I explained to him I had already been on-line and checked out what they had, I already had a good idea of what it was I wanted. Now I went in their needing everything! Irons, Driver, Woods, Bag, Shoes, Balls (no giggling at the last one) and the guy was more than accommodating. They have a VR driving range at the back which I could whack my balls against (okay you can giggle at that one) and generally I felt well taken care of without being set upon and forced to buy everything in the store because it would improve my game dramatically! On the whole I thought everything was well priced, to be honest most stores throughout Houston will be similarly priced as it is not really individual stores that can dictate their prices. I however bought last seasons Taylor Mades', and the stores can choose their own prices on last seasons gear and really as long as you aren't stupidly small or big foots long lost brother then the standard sizing will fit you fine and therefore you can look at last seasons gear. Remember, this seasons gear only has about 10 months left before it will lose that grand title! All in all I was around $1200 which believe me was a good deal. Happy to go back again and certainly will be very soon. They also provide lessons on the VR simulator which looked quite interesting and I think I will be checking that out soon. read more

I stopped in last night to look into getting a new set of wedges. Landon was incredibly helpful with answering my questions and helping me determine the right wedges for my game. The customer service was a step above the other golf shops in Houston. I went to three other golf shops in the area and not one of the employees at the others stopped to help me. I never felt rushed and Landon was exceptionally knowledgeable about the product. My only complaint is that they didn't have two of the wedges in the specs I needed, but Landon was able to order them and should be in shortly. No big deal! Great experience buying a new set of Ping G410 irons. Fitting experience with George Denos was great. He patiently worked with me to find find the best lie for me. Also, he helped me select a hybrid instead of the 5 iron. Also, George spent time with me finding the best grip for me. He diagnosed the oversized one I had recently regriped my driver with might be too large and was likely the cause of my slice. After changing to the same grip that George helped me select for the new irons my drives have become straighter. These are examples of why Edwin Watts Galleria location is a great place to buy clubs. With so many golf shops in Houston, this place some how made a niche for it's self in knowledge and service. Of course they cant compete with the Golf Smith, Galaxy, Empire and all the imperial intergalactic Super shops. But what EW does right is knowledge and a friendly staff. John is super on fitting and equipment(Gotta be a club ho) and the rest of the staff are always willing to help with out being intrusive. Being this isnt the closest golf store to me, I still stop by once a month just to see if they can get me those extra few yards with the newest course conquering gear. read more

This is the only golf shop that I use in Houston. I have tried a bunch of them and the Edwin Watts staff is by far the most knowledgeable, helpful staff I have encountered. Their regrips and shaft work is excellent and their prices are very competitive. I bought my last set of clubs here and they were genuinely interested in making sure they were fitted correctly. My experience today at Edwin Watts was exceptional. I stopped in and was greeted by Rod. I brought my clubs in for reference and explained that I was looking to upgrade my set, including having the clubs custom fit. Rod showed me around and pointed me toward a few different sets. We picked three different brands of irons and went over to the simulator. Rod custom fit a few different variations of length and lie in each brand. As I hit, he was able to read my swing statistics on the simulator to hone in on the correct fitting for me. In the end I decided on the Ping Gs. I highly recommend this place. Highly recommend this shop for any golfing needs! I only play with used clubs, and when my driver broke last week, I brought it in to see if they could fix it with a new shaft. Turns out I was able to buy a great used driver (Taylor Made Burner, in good condition) for only $50 after testing out their selection of used drivers for 45 minutes on the simulator. Then after my first round with the driver, I went back in to see about getting a new grip. Turns out I didn't need it, I would be able to fix the problem by wiping the grip down regularly with water and a towel (because I sweat so much). During both visits, their repairs guy (sorry if that isn't the correct term), Mr. Dick, talked me out of using his services because of what was best for me and least expensive. Thanks! read more

On Monday 8/11 I took adavantage of the PGA15 promo online for 15% off and free shipping for a push cart. I never got a confirm and waited 1one day and saw the credit card was in pending status for the sale. Called Weds 8/13 and talked to Steve and explained mmy situation, he said he would check into it and call me back. Thurs 8/14 called Steve back, as he never called me back, had to remind him of our conversation. all of a sudden, I was a crook trying to take advantage of a promo that had ended and they would not honor my order. They accepted my credit card, tried to charge me for the sale, cancelled my order..AND MY CARD STILL SHOWS THE SALE PENDING. I'm not the crook here. read more

They also tend to have clubs that other major retailers don't (i.e. x-flex clubs, most loft/bounce wedge combinations,etc.) The salesmen are extremely professional and don't stand over your shoulder, however, they are quick to help if needed. I'd like to say a big "Thanks" to Bob! I was in dire straits looking for a golf push cart for my daughter who was playing in a tournament in near by Bryan, TX. My daughter had to fly in from WI and she found out in a hurry how hot Texas really is. She did not want to have to carry her clubs for 4 days in 100 degree heat. I being back in WI immediately got on the computer to see what I could find and happened across Bob at Edwin Watts in Houston. Over the phone he was very helpful in finding the right cart and then promising me he would ship in out that day so she could have it the following day. As it turned out I did find another golf shop in Bryan, TX that still had a cart in stock and ended up buying that one for my daughter. I immediately call the Ed Watts store back to let them know I had found one locally and would not need them to ship one from their store.
