I absolutely love this Dive Shop! Everyone on the staff is knowledgeable, friendly and very helpful with all your needs. I thoroughly enjoyed my Open Water training with Tim & Jim because they made everything so relatable so everyone could grasp all the important info. Not only that, but we also met the other dive shop staff while we were completing our Open Water dives at Mammoth Lake and I feel as if I've entered into a whole new world of good friends who share the same interests. Fantastic experience! We had a full class and 4 dive professionals to guide us along. Great communication from class purchase until the very end. Everything is well-organized. Register for the class, complete the online course (takes about 12 hours), then the face-to-face classes - classroom, pool, classroom, pool, 2 open water days. Purchased the required gear at Divetech and it was simple; Rick guided me through each piece of gear making sure it fit properly. Love all the gear I purchased! Yelp played a big part in my decision to use this shop, so I'm going to pay it forward. I cannot recommend Dive Tech enough! I called a few dive shops that were rated highly on Google, but landed on Dive Tech after speaking with Ed over the phone. He was professional, knowledgeable, and more than willing to answer all of my newbie questions. We signed up the same day and started classes the following week with Tim. The course material is actually very interesting and easy to complete. Like other reviews mention, there are 2 classroom sessions, 2 pool sessions, and 2 open water dives (Mammoth Lake). The staff is simply amazing. Tim was our instructor with Katie and Paul joining. Every single class was an absolute joy. You will "graduate" your class as an educated, capable diver. But the best part for me was the new friends I made. The staff is passionate about this sport and sharing that passion with others. The shop also organizes trips, which I already signed up for! We recently completed our open water diver certifications, and I am so glad we did them with Dive Tech! I could not have asked for a better experience. The instructors/dive masters were thorough, knowledgeable, and incredibly patient. You can tell they are truly passionate about diving and about sharing that passion with others. Really, a great group of guys! Safety was number one, and I always felt secure in what we were doing. Beyond that, they made the experience fun. I walked away from the experience feeling prepared and excited to go out and explore! If you're thinking of getting certified, this is the place to do it! As we were walking in to Dive Tech Scuba Lessons & Gear to get a new snorkel mask for my husband he says to me, "I'm not going to get anything crazy in here". My husband looooves gear! So I rolled my eyes and said okay. As soon as we entered we were warmly welcomed by Mendel. He quickly found out what we were after and took us to a wall of masks. He then assisted my husband in selecting the perfect mask. He answered all of our questions and gave excellent recommendations. They have varying price points and I didn't feel any pressure to be upsold. Oh, and yes my husband bought the most expensive mask they had on the wall. So my eye rolling was justified. But on the upside the price was super reasonable and not a crazy amount. Mendel also took a lot of time explaining the process for SCUBA certification. We may do this in the future and I would definitely be doing it here. They have their own pool on site and keep the classes small for more individualized attention. So if you are looking for SCUBA or snorkel gear this should be your place. read more

I have driven by this place a million times, and I never had the occasion to go in until now. I am heading to Florida for vacation, and I needed a new snorkel mask. Upon walking in we were immediately greeted and were shown to the snorkel masks. The guy working there did a good job of explaining the products, and we found one that fit really well. I thought the prices were totally reasonable. The offer scuba lessons and have a pool on site to facilitate these. They also offer diving trips to a bunch of different exotic locations. Thus far I limit myself to snorkelling, but now I am strongly considering going back for the scuba lessons. read more

I ended up taking private lessons for open water certification because of my schedule, and I could not have been more thrilled. I had no idea I even had anxiety until I went under water. I recently got scuba certified at Dive Tech! It was such a fantastic experience. Edward, the owner, couldn't have been more friendly and informative. Our instructor, Mendal, was excellent as well and incredibly patient. I had young kids in my group, which meant spending more time than normal on questions and teaching. He did great with them. The facility is very clean and the gear they have available for purchase is top notch. I'm even going on a diving trip through the Dolphin Travel company to Cozumel in April. Looking forward to it. Our family recently got certified by the guys at DiveTech and they were simply awesome. Mendel and Tim were our instructors and they were great. Both are very professional, know their stuff and made all of us feel very comfortable while learning our dive skills. Also, the DiveTech facilities are great...very clean, plenty of gear and an adjustable pool bottom which is a big plus when learning this sport. SUPER friendly staff who isn't there to over-sell you and yet are very attentive when you're done browsing or when you have a question. I took my tanks there for inspection and they had the best price in town and with quick turn-around. They were very knowledgeable and seemed generally happy to talk about diving without just targeting you for a sale. I haven't done any courses with them since I already have my PADI Instructor certification so I can't attest to those, but from my experiences so far, they seem very professional, service-oriented, and in my experience that flows over into all areas in a dive shop. read more

If there were an option for zero stars, I would select that.  This store is not upfront and honest with customers and, worse, threatens them when asked to provide explanation for their charges. I went to get the battery replaced on my dive watch. They sent it in for repair but later called me to say that the computer needed some other parts replaced and the cost would be $3-400.  I asked for a detailed explanation and they couldn't give me one, but that they would obtain it from the manufacturer. When I went to pick up my watch, the total charge was $570. They had no information on what was wrong and threatened to keep my watch if I didn't want to pay.  I just asked for an explanation why the cost was nearly double the price they quoted and what exactly was wrong with it. They could provide no information.  When I said fine I will pay, a guy in the back yelled at me and told his employee to cancel the payment and that he will just keep my watch because he didn't like that I was upset.  I told him I would call the police and only then did he agree for me to pay the outrageous price to get my watch back.  This store is dishonest and a bunch of bullies. Do not shop here - ever. read more
