The meat was seasoned well and I enjoyed the bread it was on too. My husband ordered some version of a chicken cutlet sandwich which he liked. We got an order of the onion rings to share and they were very crispy. Like, maybe a little too crispy? They were mostly breading because the onion was so fried. Which, makes me want to try their fries or tots because I think they would be really good that way.

Those inline then started just talking to us and out of nowhere again one of the staff working says you know them and the lady he was talking to says yes they are friends of mine and we all just chilled in this counter area talking and having an awesome time waiting for our food to be done overall awesome vibes here all around! Now that pepper steak sandwich wow that's good like it was soo flavorful and yummy it had a ton of pepper steak on it that was mixed with some type of sauce that just soaked into it making each bite just that much better than the one before and not to mention it was packed with some veggies too as well as banana peppers to set the vibe even more! Seriously though don't count out that bread that was some delicious bread with a good crunch to it that totally held up to an already strong delicious sandwich! Overall this was an amazing stop with vibes and one of the best sandwich's I've ever had I really hope to get back here again at some point because that flavor was there in more than one way seriously just soo good!

The sausage, egg, and cheese biscuits were absolutely outstanding--fresh, flavorful, and everything a Southern breakfast should be. The cheese omelette was equally delicious, cooked perfectly and packed with flavor. What really sets this place apart is the friendly, attentive service. Everyone made us feel welcome from the moment we walked in. The combination of great food, generous portions, and genuine hospitality makes this a must-stop destination. The green beans tasted canned, as did the potatoes. The cornbread was neither hot nor flavorful, and the butter was hard as a brick, and this, un-spreadable. We didn't stay for dessert. The locals filed in and I saw a mix of burgers, sandwiches and lunch specials being served. I think it is a convenient gathering place, especially for the aging. I wish a focus on fast, friendly service with excellent food had been evident so I could have given a delightful review. Sadly, I think this little mom and pop eatery has seen its best days. You don't go to Vera's for the ambiance, as it isn't fancy and hasn't been updated in...well...forever. You go there for the hospitality and good food...something akin to home cooking. And based on our experience, even that is questionable. Highly unlikely we will be back. It was a rather expensive experiment for a little diner in a small town that's coasting on past glory. It's like Vera's had given up, but no one has acknowledged it yet. And dine in has a cafeteria style line. So many entree options, ribs, meatloaf, fried chicken , pig tails ....I didn't see any chicken dumplings though. Food doesn't taste bad but not the best country food I had either. Food taste kinda bland, but they give you huge portions, $11 your box is full. Depends how sensitive your stomach is, pick the entree and sides that more lean otherwise you might get bloated like me . Old Ryan buffet is better to me, as a comparison. Their breakfast option is probably better than lunch from the looks of it.
