Maybe there was a problem with communication but I didn't get what I wanted. I went back a week later because I was unhappy with the color and walked out after 3 hours and paying more. In total I pod over $200 to keep my hair the same color. The staff is so friendly and helpful and I loved the space. I've moved a considerable amount in the past 6 years and the the most stressful part of that is finding a new stylist in a new city. After trying out a few in the downtown area that were not good I met Mark at Educe Salon. He is the best stylist I have found, and I have lived in major cities like Miami and Atlanta most recently. He is professional and really know his stuff. After 2 times together he nailed the style I was looking for....and it just keeps getting better the more I visit. We converse like we've know each other for years and he makes you feel at ease. He believes in continuing education and learning more about his art, and it comes thru in his work. On a whim I decided to cut my super long hair into a lob as I was driving through Orlando. I called educe and was able to get an appointment with Jonathon Luna- a cut and balayage specialist. He was AMAZING. I just told him to cut it all off and let him work his magic. He was meticulous in first cutting the length off while my hair was dry, then washing my hair, then shaping the entire cut. My lob looked stunning straight and after he put some waves into it. Though I did basic one tone requests, I recommended her to close friends who had more intricate coloring such as balayage etc, and they continue to go back ever since. So... gave this place two shots. Won't go back. First time, the girl at the desk charged my debit card the full amount even though I paid $100 of my bill in cash... So when I caught her (I'm convinced the $100 was going in her pocket), she grabbed my card and ran it again even though I said I think that will mess up my account... (she acted totally annoyed). She swore it would not mess up my account... WELL (apparently I'm a pyschic) IT DID. Which meant it took ALL of the money out of my account for the ENTIRE weekend... So I got to explain to my 8 year old daughter why we had to cancel our plans and stay home all weekend waiting for the money to be put back in the account (five days later). When I called to tell the salon (hoping to spare another customer), they were really mean about it... But offered me a "free service" next time I went back. I also noticed my eyes were really stinging when I left. And my hair was super sticky. It needed to be washed immediately after I left. Usually when I get highlights, I don't need to wash my hair for at least 3 days after...Not cool. So... decided to give the salon another shot (why???). This time I asked for no product. The free service was just something they were joking about I guess. Some free conditioner treatment... I have really greasy hair and the thought of conditioner is awful beyond measure to me....But Like isn't conditioner free? Doesn't it go with shampoo?? No. Nothing is free at this salon. They probably charge you for the air you breathe while there. But you''ll never know because they refuse to break down the price of things for you. Even if you ask. It is like mystery bill every time. And the rates are totally different from the web site. And if you ask about them they flat out won't answer. This time...Asked for no products in my hair. Was adamant from the second my butt hit the chair. SHE STILL put hairspray and some miscellaneous white gunk in it before she dried it... I asked about it and she said, "Oh, I'm just putting a little." But My hair is sticky. And my eyes are stinging. I have to wash my hair after I just spent $215 on it.... which is insane. Way too expensive for this. The girl at the front desk said, "oh well it is more expensive because it is downtown Orlando." I had to laugh. I lived in NYC for ten years, have had my hair done in Iceland, London, and NYC for nowhere near that insane amount of money. And my roots are still showing. Ugh. I asked about it and the stylist said, "Oh, my rates went up." My thought was, "Oh and you didn't feel that was a relevant conversation to have?" Because last time she said, "oh, next time when you come it will be less money." This was supposed to be a touch up. Only it was more money. In my opinion, not the best way to do business. They lost mine. My roots are still showing. When I asked about my roots she said, "oh once the toner washes out it will look better" Um... huh??? My hair is sticky. Blah. Shame on me. Jonathan Luna did my hair about a less then a month ago here, I have been meaning to make a review but life gets in the way! This being said, about a year ago I tried to have a hair stylist do a melt of blonde in my virgin hair but it turned out terrible. A ring around my head of bleach blonde and tears down my face! It was my first time a year ago having bleach touch my hair and after many sessions it turned out that i was killing my hair instead of making it prettier. Shortly after I dyed my hair pitch black and now the color a year or more later is gone or faded away. After my first experience I never wanted to have my hair touched or lightened again! Then I came across the idea that I should give it one more try, so I researched around my area and finally met with Luna to look at my hair first to see if it was possible to create the look I wanted! It was so I trusted him and I am so happy that I did because he has given me back my confidence and my glow! Right when i got home i took a million and 1 selfies and blew up my story social media of just selfies lol I keep getting compliments that I look brighter and happier which are the best type of compliments to receive after a hair day! Luna knew about my past experience and knew how worried I was. He made sure that he talked me through every single step that he had to do with my hair!! He hit the 5 W'S on explaining in detail of what he was doing. Luna made sure I felt comfortable while I sat during the process. It was suppose to be only a 3-4 hours take on this but it ended up being an hour or two over the 4 hours and I ended up closing the studio which i was totally okay with because I knew he was being patient and a perfectionist which made me extremely happy! He took the bad color out of my hair and took tiny tiny tiny strands of each sections of my hair and brightened them. He is extremely patient! And great conversation lol He noticed how damaged my hair was and suggested that a long layered cut would be great- My Hair has never shaped my face and body so great! Had come here for the first time years ago on a referral for edgy modern hairstyles ( for a guy, which isn't common ) and have found the only place I trust my hair to! Over the years, I have been able to watch the salon as well as the stylists there grow as their talents and recognition have grown. Philip, the owner, is super down to earth has balanced not only promoting his own talents and brand but also, perhaps most nobly, bringing up the talented stylists and budding apprentices around him. The salon has expanded to keep up with their well deserved attention but have kept the personalized service I fell in love with from the first appointment. EDUCE is a great salon who works with quality, style, color hair professionals. I mean to convey HAIR PROFESSIONALS! I have curly hair that frizzes with our Florida humidity. I'm more of a naturalist and don't like a lot of unnecessary non-sense. I lucked into Dawn Paulk 7 years ago and have forgone any other stylist since and I travel with ample opportunity to visit plenty of other salons. And I have. When I first started with Dawn she had a bit of project with my hair. When you "pop" into a salon and "take your chances" you should understand the pro may need more than one, two or more visits with you to make the change you're wanting to achieve. Dawn first asked me what I wanted done then gave me her expert opinion. I trusted her and have never looked back! Throughout the 7 years I've trusted Dawn she has helped me become not only happier in my personal life (dare I say...my husband appreciates me coming home after a visit with Dawn) and she continues to bring me compliments in my professional life. Dawn is not selfish with her talents. If I couldn't give them a 0 I would. Not only are they rude, and cocky when they mess up, but they don't even follow Florida state board regulations on cleanliness for brushes and stations. There were no containers with barbicide to disinfect brushes after every use. I know this because I am going to school for cosmetology. I have been there twice already the first time I went there and barely had any color done for 200 dollars, dawn relentlessly asked me to curl my hair even after I express to her my concern about time, which only ended up in her doing a less half decent job on a curl after I had to pay 40 dollars for a blow out. The second time I went I decided to go to a different stylist Chelsea. She dos a great job at getting me to go as blonde I was wanted to go, I asked for a bayalage she went up way too high after teasing my roots, when I asked her if it was going to be really high up, she said it would be look just like a bayalage and blend with my roots, when she was done with my color she said there were bands in my hair from the darker color that was there before, needless to say my hair was a mess, I was supposed to take my engagement pictures So I called to see if they could fix it and they were so rude and condescending back, I am honestly shocked. The fact that they done guarantee there work is shocking, being how cocky they are, according to them those bands were already in my hair. I have no choice but to report them to the better business bureau, I work locally and will not be recommending any other people I know to this place. They have ruined my engagement picture day and left a really and taste in my mouth. There's a million salons locally that have just as good or an even better reputation. read more

I definitely can not recommend the Salon. Maybe the owner Phillip has the skills to run the Salon and he can cut hairs. The hairdresser La Shon Taylor can not even cut straight bangs . Therefore my haircut for $75 without washing my hair looked like I did it myself. I had pointed tips in the front line..... Almost cut off , one side longer as the other!!!My recommendation, take the scissors away from her and let her go back to school! Had to go to another hairdresser to get my haircut leveled and lost 2.5 inch length before the other hairdresser found a point to get a even line in my complete haircut. read more

I had been to these salon several times before, but yesterday's appointment left me with no desire to return. I made an appointment for a haircut with Philip, owner of the salon. His talent is unquestionable, but the service was not what I paid for. To begin with, there was a raise of $20 for a haircut with him, which is now costing $120. So Ok, but if I'm paying for HIS services, I do not appreciate having someone else drying my hair. I have a lot of thick hair, that's why I'm choosing a top rated stylist and not Hair Cuttery to cut and style. He came for finishing touches, but the result on my hair is never the same. I was very disappointed with a half done service, and then to have to pay an unexpected additional 20!...sorry, but I don't think Educe will be my choice next time. Found this salon on Instagram and made a same day appointment after my regular stylist (that I Love!) became ill and had to cancel all her appointments for the day. I am super picky about my hair and was very apprehensive about letting a "stranger" do my color and style, but I had an event this weekend and needed my hair done.. Salon is nice and trendy. Staff is friendly and greeted you right away. Dawn was my stylist. When I called, I asked if Neal or Kat (solely based on their Instagram posts of their work) were available, but they were both booked. Dawn was very nice and took her time to find out exactly what I was wanting. She explained each step she was doing (I think she could tell I was nervous too). She colored and toned my hair and styled it. I am very pleased with the results and will definitely come back if I ever have a "hair emergency" again.
