After having a baby and fast forward 2 yrs later, I decided it was time for a new do to get out of the tired mom look. I'm naturally a brunette but have had Balayage highlights before and loved it. I always bring a picture with me of what I'm looking for to make it easier for the stylist since sometimes a description just isn't enough. I also did a little bit of research online to find a good stylist in town that knows how to do Balayage the right way. I looked at pictures etc and BAM! found a salon that had 2 stylists that were pretty good at it by the looks of their clients online: Miranda and Kat. I called to make an appointment and was able to get Miranda for a consultation. I was super excited and couldn't wait to finally change my look. I had my pictures ready and met Miranda. Nice girl but was thrown off at first when I asked how much her Balayage highlights started at and she quoted me $135. I spoke with the receptionist prior to the appointment and he said they start at $120. I was ready to walk out and told her never mind but she said she would see what she could do. I thought this was a bit strange and maybe wondered if it would compromise what we had discussed. Would I get less highlights ,etc? She reassured me she would "try her best" to get it similar to the picture. At this point I was a tad scared. So she proceeds to highlight, not really going into detail of the type of color blonde I wanted which is normally something stylists do. Not all color blonde is created equal especially with different skin tones. I know what I like but figured the picture would speak for itself. She's the expert, right? About 2 + hrs pass and my hair is finally done. She never asks how I part my hair but blow dries it to the side. The highlights were a bit loud and I wasn't sure if it was the lighting but I thought maybe the color needed to set. I went home unsure of the whole thing. I needed to get home to take a closer look, perhaps in better lighting. When I finally looked at the placement of the highlights, the color, the thickness of the strands that were highlighted I realized it just wasn't what I wanted. I was super disappointed because its been awhile since I've had my hair done and I spent a lot of money. I called not even an hr after my appointment and the receptionist says that she had gone home for the day and no one else was at the salon. Super frustrating! Of course, my hair was in a ponytail for the rest of the weekend. Although I had to wait until the following week, I was able to go back to the salon to get it fixed after contacting the owner and explaining my situation. Miranda added more highlights and toned down some pieces. The color seemed less obnoxious but it needed to set a bit. Well fast forward almost a month later and the color is just....ok. There's a lot of blonde framing my face, and different color blonde strands throughout my hair but some pieces are really white and yellow. Overall, the look just isn't for me so I'm going back to my brunette color. Balayage is supposed to look a bit more natural when comparing it to the Ombre technique. My end result does not look natural. The color and placement of the highlights are completely off. I spend almost $200 including tip. Disappointed is an understatement. I would love to give the salon another chance but I'm not sure I want to waste my time and money. read more

Stylist: Tara Weeks If I could give this place zero stars I would. I discovered this place while walking on the street and saw the quality of work I thought they did. I was so excited to come to this salon and looked up different stylists and decided on Tara. To start off she was 30 minutes late to my appointment and I was the first appointment of the day. I was very understanding given the circumstances, but could tell she was still frazzled. I felt that when I was telling her what I wanted she wasn't completely listening. I explained that I wanted dark brown hair with a few lighter pieces at the end. I made sure to repeat myself multiple times that I did not want WARM tone hair. First she darkened only my roots and left the rest of my hair color its original tone (which is not what i wanted, I wanted an overall darker color), then she added some "face framing highlights". She was pretty snobby, and was making comments about a clients friend who had a wig on, she kept asking me if it was real and that she didn't want to stare and then talked about other staff members in front of me! It seemed so unprofessional. Once my hair was washed out in the bowl we came back to the chair and she cut and started to blow dry my hair. She was obviously behind and trying to rush. She kept saying how "deceiving" my hair was and basically how difficult it was to blow dry. I felt pretty embarrassed. When she was done I explained to her that it wasn't what i wanted. The color was a warm tone and lighter than my original hair. She wasn't too happy about my reaction but decided to try and "fix" it anyway. She decided to put black dye on my roots and paint it through certain pieces through out my hair. I asked her to just tone the overall color a bit darker and she refused. She said that the root color would make it look darker. She then passed me on to another stylist to blow dry my hair and warned her how "deceiving" my hair was... for the second time. When she blow dried my hair it looked even worse! There was an obvious line between the "root color" and the original color and highlights. I told her again, this was not what I wanted at all. She looked at me and told me to wear it for a week and if I didn't like it that she would tone it again. She refused to just tone it while I was there. She told me that it was neutral toned and looked fine, that it was just the lights in the salon that weren't doing it justice. When I went into my car in natural light I could see copper and yellow in my high lights and they were super patchy and not blended well. I went back in to complain and was told to come back on saturday to fix my hair... I couldn't wait that long and decided to go to another salon to have it dyed over. They refused to refund my money, despite her lack of professionalism and poor quality. I basically paid $225 for someone to mess up my hair. They refuse to refund me because I went and dyed over it even though I have pictures to defend my claim. read more

Wow, what can I say about this salon other than it is absolutely incredible. The price range is higher than your average salon but as a woman who knows hair you need to understand that you are paying for a higher end service. There is one stylist in particular that my hair now belongs to forever, and that is Miranda Buzzella. My best friend found her while searching for the perfect wedding hair stylist and we definitely hit the jackpot on this one! Not only does Miranda listen to our wants/needs/fears with endless patience but she also supports our desire to change ourselves for the better via her excellent styling. Long before I met Miranda and had the pleasure of seeing the stylish Educe environment I had decided as a natural dark brunette to go blonde upon reaching a weight loss goal. I spoke with Miranda about this during numerous pre-wedding appointments and she was open and unafraid of the daunting challenge. I have excessively long & curly dark hair so this change was a bit tricky and had to be done just right. On a whim I decided it was time to go for it and Mirando took the reins and made my dreams a reality!! My journey to Educe starts with a Google search.... I was looking for a salon that really knew what they were doing when it came to balayage highlights. Since this is such a hot trend right now I figured most salons would jump on the band wagon and say that they offered it too but I was leery to proceed because it seems with this technique, unless you really know what you're doing, it can get wacky fast. I didn't want to pick someone that said they could, but really couldn't and have to spend twice as much for someone else to fix it. During my online search I actually stumbled across Educe's blog and read up on the difference of ombre and balayage and also learned how much personal, one-on-one training their team went through with top talent to learn the technique. This really gave me confidence to book my appointment. I know of other salons in the area and when I asked how they were trained in balayage no one else could match their (Educe's) level of training. They were willing to invest in the best. So for me, that means when I work with them it'll be money well spent. To create my look I worked with Miranda Buzzella and she is AMAZING!!!! She gave me a great consultation, was very knowledgeable and also made the whole process fun! Great personality! I brought in pictures to really specify what I wanted and she nailed it!! She gave me the exact look I wanted, every bit as good as the pictures I showed her and on the first visit!! I walked out of there feeling beautiful and really grateful I took the time upfront to investigate finding a salon like Educe. I HIGHLY recommend this salon, but specifically recommend LaShon Taylor. I've had my hair done at a lot of high end salons and always left disappointed and not happy. LaShon ROCKS at cutting and styling hair. She is the only one I let touch my hair anymore. When I first went to her my hair was fried and damaged by another hairdresser that highlighted my hair wrong...so badly that my hair was breaking and falling out. LaShon got my hair back into shape in no time. I love that she's honest about what my hair can and can't handle, and even if a style I'd like to have will work and look that way on my hair. I'm not one to tell a hairdresser 'do whatever you think will look the best', but I say that to LaShon all the time now with no fear of what my hair will turn out like. She is truly the most talented hairdresser I've ever been to. My hair is the healthiest it's been in years, AND...the cut is amazing! I get compliments all of the time, no matter what style she does on my hair! Lashon Taylor is truly one of the most gifted hair dressers that Orlando has to offer! I have personally been going to Lashon for over 10 years and she has evolved my hair to help me grow into the woman that I am today! I recently got married and was honored to have her do my hair! I gave her a picture of what I was imagining and she completely evolved it into something 10x better than what I could have ever imagined! When it comes to highlights I have a tendency to stick to one color pattern but Lashon knows my hair and knows my personality and what would look best on me! The overall professionalism in this salon is far below the standards that a salon of this caliber should be following. I had one stylist yell at me for being late when in reality I was in the waiting area waiting for her. The manager came over and tells me they have a right to refuse customers who are 15 min late or later. I mentioned I was in the waiting area the entire time. Then my second experience I arrived way earlier then the appointment time , the stylist is going way over time with her previous customer, I question that and the fact I have an appointment pre booked. I'm told I'm unreasonable and to rather go and get my hair done with a competitor down the street. So customers can't be late more then 15 min but they can leave customers waiting far beyond their appointment times ? The below response in inaccurate. Kat left you and no longer works with you. Dawn is extremely unprofessional and Blake is absolutely amazing. So I never had any issues with 3 stylists. I never used the worlds you're starting I did below. Your response to anyone who leaves a negative review is to call them liers, to argue , and basically bash them instead of taking the experience as motivation to better your business. I moved to Orlando about 3 years ago, leaving a stylist who had been cutting and styling my hair for nearly 20 years. Needless to say, I was very apprehensive about starting with a new stylist, but I found Lashon Taylor at the salon across the street from my condo and could not have been happier with her work. When Lashon moved to Educe Salon, I followed her --and I'm so glad I did. That first haircut she gave me 3 years ago was literally the best I'd ever had up to that point --every cut she's done since then has been consistently good and absolutely perfect for my hair. Further, I've had nothing but compliments on the highlights she's added to my otherwise drab hair color. Lashon knows what is going to work for my hair and how to achieve it. I trust her completely and have never been disappointed. I'm also impressed with Educe Salon itself. The ambience is modern and arty, the environment is clean and professional, the talent of the stylists is obvious. I have always been hesitant to cut my normally long hair into layers with bangs. LaShon has been styling my hair for over a year and so I consulted her about her thoughts on whether or not my hair would be suitable for a shorter, more updated style. After asking me questions about how I normally wear my hair, LaShon brushed and played with my hair and gave me her opinion. Since I trust LaShon I gave her the go-ahead to cut a new style for me! I have received so many compliments on my new style but even better is that I can style my own hair at home without running to the salon for a blow-dry. I can definitely recommend LaShon and Educe Salon for even the pickiest of my girlfriends because LaShon does not just cut hair, she analyzes your face, your hair, and your expectations. I arrived to Orlando 2 years ago, a nervous wreck with PTSD, no friends, and the most jacked up hair imaginable. This bright and bubbly young lady named Maylena gave me the biggest smile and the rest is my Orlando fairy tale story. Maylena ended up being my new stylist, Miranda's, assistant, and the two of them worked miracles on my hair to bring the color and cut to something I felt proud of. Miranda added extensions to give me the length and volume I had lost, and little by little my own natural hair has flourished under her care. Maylena has graduated from being Miranda's assistant, but I still get a warm hug and some girl talk with her every time I come in. Miranda has set very real expectations with me and has taught me the value of being patient with myself and my hair so that I can look and feel my best everyday. I absolutely recommend this salon!! I was immediately greeted and felt very welcomed there. I came in feeling drab and dull with my current hairstyle and color and thank you to their stylist, LaShon Taylor, I left feeling refreshed and SO excited with my new hair!!! AND MONTHS AFTER THE COLOR, I AM RECEIVING COMPLIMENTS and inquiries as to where I get my hair done! I've read Valerie's critique and Vicky's complaint about Valerie, but let me assure you, Valerie is the best hairdresser I've ever been to. She is incredibly patient and attentive, always taking the time to listen and handle my hair with care. My hair had become quite brittle with various colors due to our COVID lockdown and my attempts at coloring it, which turned into a nightmare. However, Valerie has worked wonders in restoring the life to my hair. It's essential to understand that damaged hair doesn't miraculously recover overnight, especially as we age. I had patience with my hair, and Valerie guided me through different products and treatments, resulting in almost perfect hair now. I urge you not to be swayed by the negative review. Unfortunately, the reviewer may not grasp that revitalizing hair takes time. Valerie is a fantastic stylist, and I'm willing to travel almost two hours just to have her work her magic on my hair. EDUCE Salon is conveniently located in the ViMi district of Orlando, near downtown yet close enough to be just a short drive for folks like me who moved to the 'burbs. My stylist, Kat, recently moved over to this salon. Where Kat goes I go, as I'm a huge fan of her youthful spirit, consistent knowledge about the latest trends and techniques and naturally fun-loving persona. Upon walking into EDUCE, I thought "refreshing, relaxed, professional but not pretentious." It felt like an intimate environment that's doing personal styling on an individual level - not a salon that churns out the same styles over and over. They are clean, offer wine, water or other beverages upon arrival, a full selection of L'Oreal Professional and Oribe products (the latter which I just found and now love) and all that best of all personal and ultra-experienced staff that can give you the attention you deserve when it comes to creating your look. I've never written a Yelp review before but my experience at Educe was so wonderful that I have to share. I came in with dark, box-dyed hair and asked for it to be dyed blonde. Chelsea was upfront with me and told me that it would take a few sessions to get to the color I wanted to be. I just finished my first session and she is an absolute hair wizard. I left the salon with gorgeous ashy blonde hair. She took her time making sure that the color was right I never felt rushed or concerned that she was trying to get me out the door, as some salons do. As a result, my hair is a beautiful color and still feels healthy to the touch! I have done the same process in the past and always ended up with broken, brittle hair after having it bleached. But Chelsea did it in a way that protected the integrity of my hair. I'm thrilled and I'd highly recommend this salon (and specifically Chelsea!) to anyone. I LOVE ARIANA!!! Ive spent so much money at what i was told to be top rated salons.. Places like magnolias and stella lucas in winterpark but none that I can say left me happy with my outcome. I ran to educe to correct a bad hair dye on very expensive extensions and never left since. My hair dresser Ariana was so friendly. This place has a diverse group of hair dressers. One month I want long purple ombre to short purple pixie cut and now i have platinum blonde short hair. Ariana listens well every time I showed her what I want she pulled it off.. I am still amazed at how she was able to take my hair from a dark purple pink all over color to a platinum blonde (no orange). My hair is soft to the touch. She rocks!!! She took the integrity of my hair into consideration with my always changing styles and pulled it off. Educe salon is the best salon I have experienced... Being very picky about my hair and not trusting it to just anyone. I have been coming to Educe since last year and every single month since. I can say without a doubt that MARK RODRIGUEZ is the best stylist you can ask for! He executes everything you vision and more with such precision and skill. He has a way of keeping my style feminine and soft yet strong and egdy! Ever since I met Mark, everyone compliments my hair all of the time... even strangers, (no joke) even after its grown out people still think i have a fresh cut, thats how precise his cuts are. Now dont get me started on his color technique! His creativity is mind blowing. I can just sit it that chair and let him choose what color and style. This was my first visit to Educe (and my first time coloring my hair). I absolutely loved it. It was fairly busy because of prom, but it seemed like everyone was working together well and the salon was clean and welcoming. Everyone I talked to was extremely friendly, making sure I didn't need anything to drink while I waited. My stylist was Chelsea and she, along with her assistant Kate, were amazing and fun company. They talked through the process with me and made sure they knew what I was wanting before we started. Chelsea and her team delivered. Not only that, but my car battery was completely dead when I was leaving (so embarrassing). Another girl who works at the salon used her break to go get her car and help me jump mine so I could leave. I wish we lived in Orlando so I could be a regular client, but I will make sure to book here in the future if we pass through again.
