    Street taco
    Shanna K.

Wow!! This little place is absolutely amazing! It was SOOOO Delicious! My husband got street tacos, I got a breakfast burrito and my son had a bean and cheese burrito. As you can see there are only two pictures my son devoured his burrito before I could get a picture he loved it so much! Can't wait to go back!

Casual and good. Jarritos with bean and cheese burrito.

Staff was very nice when interacting, although interaction was minimal due to QR code ordering. I personally don't read Italian, but the descriptions on each of the food items and the wines were really great and made choosing what to order easy! Everything was super good, but my favorites were the meatballs and the Supli (tomato risotto ball). The wine selection was also very good and I ended up leaving with a very nice bottle because it was so delicious! We loved sitting outside, but definitely want to try sitting inside next time. It was a little too warm inside for us this time but the vibes seem so cool! We look forward to the next time!

I was enticed by the pictures of fresh salads and wood fired pizzas. We ended up getting a few pizzas, a couple different pastas. They were all so flavorful (not salty) the texture of the gnocchi was so soft and absorbed the flavorful sauce. We were all blown away. We used QR to order, and were advised to order in waves. Drinks first. Everything came out promptly, even though the restaurant was pretty full. The last few days we ate at some incredible restaurants. Cold Springs Tavern in Santa Barbara, Nepenthe in Big Sur, then we come to Osteria DOP and all agreed the food here was unmatched. The best. For driving many hours, I liked that the atmosphere was casual, but it still looked modern and nice.

The menu gets a creative refresh every couple of months, which keeps things interesting, but they've also got a lineup of permanent heavy hitters that are basically perfect every time. Smash burger. Steak frites. Seafood ceviche. Tomahawk steak. I mean... come on. Also -- the bar! Some of the hardest-working pros in the Springfield/Eugene scene are behind it. Great wine list and cocktails that feel like smart little love letters to the classics. In short: this place is legit. Great people, great food, great drinks. The inside was pretty but it REEKED of used kitty litter the second we walked in. I have no idea why it smelled like that but that's what my entire family described it as and it got even stronger when you walked by the end of the bar. We ordered drinks and I did really like mine so that was a plus. We then ordered a couple appetizers as we had a fairly big party. The sourdough trio and the beef carpaccio were okay. We loved the scallop esquites though which were delicious. The bathroom was really weird, you go through a back door down a hallway and once you get to the all gender bathroom it's closed off by plywood doors for each individual stall which was really weird and felt cheap in a restaurant that looks nicer. Our waitress sucked (a middle aged blonde woman). She took forever to take our orders because she for some reason assumed we were just getting appetizers even though we never said that. When taking our orders my stepdad said "oh you're starting with me?" Just because I think he wasn't ready and in a rude tone she says "well you're sitting in seat number one so I'm just going by order". She was rarely at our table and spent more time talking with the bartender and who I assume are regulars who were sitting at the bar. When our food came out she said "you also ordered the teres major right?" While setting it in front of me before I said no. She then said "oh yeah, I knew that was wrong before I even said anything" and that she had put my order in wrong. She said she'd have the cooks put a rush on it but you can't really put a rush on a steak. She brought out the sides that go with my dish so I wouldn't be without food but the green beans were incredibly salty and the mashed potatoes were dry and almost cold. When my mom offered to let me have some of her steak for the time being the waitress butted in to say "she does have food coming". When my steak finally came out everyone else was already finished eating but she did bring it out with fresh sides and the mashed potatoes were much better! Granted the texture and appearance was so different from the first ones it really made me wonder just how old those first potatoes were which grossed me out a bit. My steak was delicious and I did get a side of chimichurri which was the best chimichurri I've had in a long time. My sister said the sauce for her seafood linguini was pretty bland but she otherwise enjoyed her dish. My mom also mentioned the teres major was really good. So there were some pluses but we all decided the negatives outweighed the positives. Would not recommend.

Probably the best pizza place in town…read more Came here twice, once on a Friday evening and another during weekday midday. Weekends and evenings are hectic, the place is packed and our wait was around 35 minutes. On weekday midday we were seated and served right away. Servers are very accomodating and attentive. Our food came out relatively fast both times, within 15-20 mins of ordering for multiple dishes. The basic marinara pizza is surpsingly very good and is our favorite so far. The thin crust is cooked perfectly with a satisfying bite, and the marinara with garlic/oregano/olio verde/pecorino was simple yet delicious. All pizzas come with chili flakes and parmesean to add to your liking. The pepperoni and Il Tuffo were great too. The menu has a variety of pizzas with yummy sounding topping combos that keep you wanting to come back and try them all. The location is clean and lively, with a lot of varied seating indoor and out. And, it's tradition to grab icecream next door, which is a good use of time during longer waits. For the price and the quality, the pizzas are definitely worth coming for.

I won't bore you with details on crust (thinnish with a nice chew) or toppings (interesting varieties and well and evenly dispersed, nothing clumped in one area) and the friendly staff, etc. Nope, I would not have been there numerous times over the last handful of years and recommend it to most everyone I know. So why just the three-star rating? Lemme tell you about a pet peeve of mine: automatic gratuities. Tips added on to the total without any indication to the patron. Don't get me wrong-- I completely understand for larger parties, like six or more. I've spent months/years as a waiter so I understand the frustration of working hard to please a table only to get a 10% tip. As a now-former waiter, I try to tip generously. What I don't understand or expect is an automatic gratuity for small group, especially when I am a solo diner. Just me. Party of one. With minimal indication on the bill as to the added tip. After my last time at H-N-I-P I got the check, added on my own tip and paid. Then I pondered on the total. It seems funky -- why is it more than just the pizza and salad I ate... there's no tax in Oregon... Whuh? I look more closely at the bill and see that they already added on a tip...? I guess they just got a nearly 50% tip from me. Which might be the last tip because it's seriously irritating. In time I'll probably have a pizza craving that only they can fill, and go back. I'll look more closely at the menu to see if and where the automatic gratuity is mentioned. Enjoy the pizza. Beware the automatic gratuity.
