One professor I had produce assignments littered with spelling and grammar errors. It was embarrassing; espeically since I am paying for this class. Also, good luck getting anyone from advising getting back to you. I've contacted them three times with nothing. I am done after one quarter, and will be so happy to go to another college that acts like one for my next quarter. Shout out to the professors I did have that did a great job. Very dissapointed. I'm not yet a student but I live extremely close to Edmonds College and when I started thinking about going back to college after a very long absence, I decided to apply. I was very confused as to what steps to take to enroll and even though the college's emails were helpful, I wanted some one on one assistance. So on my day off from work, I drove over and found my way to the Admissions office. I was greeted by the most wonderful woman and I hate that I cannot remember her name, but she was extremely kind and even left her desk at the back of the room to show me where to go to speak to an advisor. When I got to the building across the hallway, I was greeted by a very sweet woman named Ella who helped me set up an advising appointment. Although I hadn't planned on it, I also took a Math and English placement test in their testing center. Everyone there was very nice and helpful. When I met Ella for the appointment, I was really nervous about starting school again, but she was very helpful and offered to look over my transcripts from my four previous schools to help me decide what classes to take. She also eased my fears about my learning disabilities and so forth. The campus itself is really nice. I parked behind the buildings in the visitor parking so I had to walk halfway across campus to find the buildings I needed. But it was a nice walk. The campus is spread out but not so much that you would find yourself turned around. It can be confusing at first, but I found my way to the student union and looked around. It's very nice and spacious and there is a nice bookstore inside. The store was closed but I'm looking forward to checking it out. I am so excited about starting school in the fall and I think I'm going to love being an Edmonds College Triton. I'll keep you posted. =) read more

Unfortunately, EDCC was a traumatic experience. I'm male, and a female roommate's friend attacked me and accused me of a false sexual assault against me as retaliation. School began TItle IX investigation which found no evidence of SA. I told investigator she had become abusive recently. She forgot her key, and when I opened the door, she screamed and pushed me because I was late. One time, she grabbed me by the shirt collar and scratched my neck with her nails. She snuck into my room and stole my bloodstained shirt. She repeatedly threw away my shoes to stop me from going to school or meeting friends. Eventually, I lost my patience and messed up her things. She brought her friend who attacks me. During the investigation, she stole my iPhone and returned it when she moved out. Despite all of this, my side of the story was ignored by school. Even though there was no evidence of SA, I got a disciplinary warning for messing up her belongings. She and her friend faced no consequences. For years after the investigation ended, she kept emailing and texting me on Instagram that she is sorry. Imagine if the situation were reversed. What if a guy stole a girl's phone and stalked? What if a guy assaulted a girl or kept her from going to school? What if a guy brought his friend to assault a girl roommate? I believe the outcome of the investigation would have been very different and you can go to jail. read more

Steve Hailey's digital forensics program made my time at Edmonds fantastic. There are no doubt very few programs like it in the entire US. He takes a complex subject and breaks it down. You get hands-on access to licensed commercial digital forensics programs, and he teaches you how to use them. He brings in real-world examples and cases and is an internationally recognized expert; in one class, he brings in other experts from the private and public (law enforcement) sectors who are also practitioners in the field. read more

I specifically want to review the Paralegal program at Edcc. It's amazing, and one of the top programs of its kind. The instructors are amazing - my favorite happens to teach in a kilt, and the classes are so informative and helpful. In addition, the college has a club called the Law Association that's especially for Paralegal students. I feel so supported in this program, and I'm learning so much. Now, in other college things, there are many computer labs throughout the campus, and they are really easy to access. Also, there are several great places to eat - and we can't forget the Cafe. At the cafe, they serve a gourmet-style lunch (complete with linens!). The prices are very reasonable - right around $7 for food that is pretty yummy. It's also open to the general public. So, if you are looking for an awesome community college with some great programs, then take a look at Edcc! read more

First thing they need to do is update their campus maps (the ones on campus) because I walk all over one day looking for a specific office that according to the map was located in a very different place that what was specified on the map. The buildings have a bit of an industrial and gloomy look but when you enter most of them everything looks modern, clean and up to date. I really like that they have a 1 hour visitors' parking lot that you don't have to pay for if you just need to run to the bookstore or drop something off. Also after 2 and on weekends parking is free. The instructors I've had so far all seem pretty nice. One thing that's a bit annoying is whenever you call cashier or enrollment services you can tell they are trying to get you off the phone and end the conversation quickly even though you aren't done. read more

I cannot say anything about the college, but the college library is not a very good place to study. There is way too much loud socializing going on and the librarians don't do anything about it... I guess that's not their job. Its really a shame because it is a beautiful, spacious, and comfortable library. But you might as well go to a coffee shop because this library is loud. :-( read more

I've been to 3 colleges in the area and Edmonds was by far my favorite. Things have probably changed since I last attended but the professors were amazing, the campus is nice, and the advising was great. Only reason I had to leave was because they didn't have a nursing program. read more

If you are doing some continuing education classes it can be quite confusing how they have it set up online. And if you call the main line for answers they can be more confusing, saying to apply to the school when in all actuality it is a seperate department. The continuing education is also seperate from the CRI continuing education courses and there IS a small registration fee for these classes. But when in the midst of my confusion, I wrote an email to the help center and received a response from a most excellent patient girl name Avery, who explained things as well as gave me the number of 425-640-1809 to call if I needed more help. Ended up calling and she helped me through explaining in detail about the different departments. She earned 5 stars for not treating me like an idiot. Thanks Avery! You deserve a promotion for awesome customer service. :) read more

I hesitated posting this out fear that there would be some kind of repercussion for my speaking out. But at the end of the day, this is important and should be addressed. I had a public anxiety attack at my student job and the director of the center found it appropriate to sneer at me and insult me out of sight but within earshot. I left school in tears that day, and the tears didn't stop until I fell asleep and woke up the next day with a throbbing headache. That whole weekend I was bed ridden and swallowed by sorrow. Thoughts of suicide skirted my mind and at one point I was writing letters and closing bank accounts. That was easily one of the worst experiences of my life, and the closest I've come to ending it. Needless to say, I've been diagnosed with severe anxiety and depression. It's interfered with all aspects of my life, and sometimes I feel as if it will never get better. Ironically, while trying to improve my life by getting a proper education, this experience with this staff member left me feeling as if there is little value to my life and no point in trying. He personally ridiculed me and verbally cast me aside as some kind of sub human creature who could "infect" others with whatever I had.... which in my case is mental illness. Mental illness is still misunderstood, so I suppose can't blame him entirely for his cruelty. However for someone of his age working with the youth, his actions were absurdly immature and thoughtless, and I truly don't believe that he should be working in a position of authority with students. His position only makes his malice worse. I hope that he's put into a situation one day that will allow him to practice compassion towards those that are suffering. If not, then it would be beneficial to get proper training on how to be a compassionate person. I suggest that it be mandatory for those in leadership positions watch an overview of what mental health illnesses are and what their symptoms are so that one may identify them and treat them with sensitivity instead of cruelty. I think it would also help a lot if it was understood that mental health problems are often biochemical, and that many people are born with it. In addition to it being innate within the biology of a person, a lot of mental health problems are due to environments as well... and I truly believe that anyone, if born into similar circumstances, would be affected in a similar way. So, mental illness is not something to be ridiculed, and the one inflicted with it should not be blamed or punished for having it, for having it is punishment enough. Edmonds community college is a school that touts diversity, and being a safe zone. But never in my life have I ever felt so unsafe in a public setting. Please use this experience to ensure that something similar does not happen to another student. One star because my experience with the dean of student success and the head of HR was good. They were sensitive to my struggle and showed compassion, thank you. read more

The college is great, I've been going there for four years and I will graduate this coming June! As far as places to eat, I have heard the college cafe is good although I've never eaten there. My best advice would be to bring your own lunch. The Brier Grill is great for coffee or a snack but every time I've bought a deli sandwich I've been disappointed. I would try to order from the hot menu instead. The deli sandwiches are very expensive ($5.49) and are pretty bad: Wilted lettuce shreds Dry and almost stale bread Dry turkey I bought one today and only ate half, the crust of the bread just fell right off and I ended up just eating the turkey and cheese. I skipped breakfast at home and had to eat something quick before my next class. I understand that all the campus food services are run by the culinary arts students and this is a great learning experience for them, but they might be better off making a seasonal menu and eliminating these sandwiches because they are bad! read more

Great school. I enjoyed studying construction management class. Friendly, welcoming campus with lots of degree options. Buildings are compact and easy to navigate in the school. They now have a bigger parking lot and some newly renovated buildings. Great place to study and enjoy the school. read more

The programs, resources, and the campus itself are good - as far as community colleges go, Edmonds is A-OK. I just wish it weren't located in the armpit of hell known as Lynnwood. Thank god most of my program is online. Also, dealing with their financial aid department is kind of a nightmare. Online assistance requests either don't work, or you get a complete non-answer. Calling them is an exercise in masochism, as well. Hours are very limited (9-11am and 2-4pm or something like that), and if you call any time other than 9am on the dot, you will be on hold until you just give up and hang up. When they do answer, the receptionist(?) sounds like she is Eastern European with a thick accent that makes her almost impossible to understand. I don't understand why this woman was placed in her position, and I say this as a Russian immigrant who is also a receptionist. read more

I completed the pharmacy technician program here in 5 quarters. It started out good, but as time went on the instructors got worse. Ended with paperwork sent off to the state of Washington for my license being filled out incorrectly by someone who signs off students for the pharmacy tech department. You'd think they would know how to do that huh. They don't. It has resulted in a 5 month delay in receiving my state certification. For some reason, I wasn't surprised. Thank goodness I'm done with them forever. read more

Don't bother unless it's digital forensics or a full-time faculty member. The hybrid classes are a joke. Why pay money to do self-study unless you need the college credit? The hybrid classes are taught by part-time instructors who have outside jobs and are completely unavailable and unwilling to answer questions or spend the time with students. Want to do the Cisco CCNA - then don't do the hybrid series, it will cost you over $3,500 and you won't pass the CCNA (or get a voucher) after a year of study. Why bother? Administration is unresponsive to the concerns of the students, the dean and department head just pass student concerns about course content, curriculum, and instructors off to each other without any problem resolution. Want a job after completion of one of their certificates or their AA-T degrees? Well good luck with that. They even make you pay for a one-credit course to go over your credits before you enter or before you graduate, nice. There are people still taking classes after graduation thinking that if they get just one more class in they will get a job. Will you get your certs after you finish a course? Probably not, most students lack the skills or confidence to even try. A great many other schools offer great discounts on the certification exams to their students and model the final exams on the certification exams so their students can pass them - it's all about the certs. Does EDCC get it? Nope. Want to transfer in credits? Administration makes it almost impossible, you have to fight tooth and nail to get even your 4-year degree general distribution classes to transfer. What a waste of time - it's mostly busy work. If you know your stuff, just spend your money on books and videos and go for your certs; that is, if you don't need the credits and the degree (I didn't). The one exception to all of the above is Steve Hailey and his digital forensics program. That is fantastic - there are few programs like it in the entire US. He takes a difficult subject and breaks it down. You get hands-on access to expensive programs and he actually teaches you how to use them. He brings in real-world examples and cases; in one class he brings in people who are practitioners in the field. read more

This has been one of the best institutions I've attended since taking a summer off from graduating from high school. In my case I have a minor form autism ( social anxiety) and this schools been nothing but helpful and welcoming to me and it's great that they offer the opportunity to get free tutoring and extra time on tests,quizzes and finals at the SSD Center , an example of how welcoming this school is when I enter the office on many occasions to get help knowing me by name which is great and humbling especially when the quarter winds down and there's an expectation of greatness not only ingrained by the staff but it also derived from your inner self, if that makes any sense. I've been attending classes here for the past four quarters and have throughly enjoyed my experience here. The curriculum that is taught here comes with quite the variety of choices and has really helped with taking the necessary classes that I needed to take in order to be truly successful in my desired career avenue along with having more than just the SSD office but a job help center, student diversity center to relax and take a break from classes along with a game room with a variety of consoles and games to play and a pool table. So, this college definitely has a little something for anyone that attends this college. Go to college people and I can promise you that it's worth it for say a year or so down the line. As for myself, I'm almost half way towards fulfilling the needs for a proper Associates Degree (DTA) , with the many available resources it has most definitely helped with my journey towards being successful in an entry level position. read more

While a reasonable education can be gotten here, the instruction and expectations can be all over the map. Some instructors are organized, fair, and top notch in their expertise and professionalism, others disorganized or lackluster, dishing out whatever, some useful, some not. The worst of it is subjective grading with no pedagogical standards. Programmatic shortfalls lead to horrendous challenges and missteps for students. Politics and funding seem to determine the educational bottom line--and that's a very big problem for students, aka tuition- and tax-payers. read more

I've attended a few community colleges as I've moved around the country including Shoreline CC and from what I've seen, Edmonds CC is as good as it gets. Overall the instructors are great and willing to go the extra mile to help students understand the material. You'll always have your outliers but Edmonds CC has a decent amount of classes and instructors available so you can avoid the bad ones. Staff are friendly and helpful and the facilities are top notch for a JC. Cons: -Third World level internet. It is impossible to get connected and stay connected. Who do you have to bribe around here to get on the internet?! -Food is good but expensive. -Could use more variety in class times to accommodate non-traditional students that work full-time days or weekends shifts (night classes or only Mon-Thurs). read more

This is your general community college. Not a terrific school but not bad either just mediocre. The college has a large population of exchange students, if you are looking for a school and are lonely for your friends this might be a good school for you. It's also a good alternative to paying high college tuition for all four years. They seem to have an extensive culinary arts department if that's your calling. read more

An extremely negative, inaccurate and vindictive review was posted yesterday and I felt compelled to offer some Truth to the matter. I started the culinary program at EDCC in Spring of 2013. I will be completely done (except for a 2 credit class) mid December. If you are considering attending classes at EDCC here are some things that you can expect to happen: Food Safety: This is something that is drilled into the students from the get go. Starting with having your Food Handlers License before you start to identifying danger points, how to use thermometers and so much more. It goes beyond book learning as the teachers (and the upper class men) are always around to coach, teach and correct to ensure that food is handled and prepared safely. Leadership: The program is designed to help students learn how to be leaders. Students of different levels work together in different areas of production. The adage goes " if you really want to learn something, teach it". Though I have loved learning from my instructors, I have also learned so much from the students who were in the "lead" position of the area I was in. Most of them were young enough to be my children BUT I came to learn and I was humble enough to allow myself to be taught and wise enough to allow them to teach me! Everybody gets to have an opportunity to be a "lead" at different points throughout the program. This is a valuable skill that also can NOT come out of a book. Preparation for employment: This program is set up so that students receive the tools and skill necessary to become gainfully employed. This includes learning and understanding all the different aspects of food service such as; dish washing, food costs, front of the house, storage and receiving, cooking techniques, punctuality, accountability and teamwork. Just like the food industry, this program is not for the faint of heart. A successful chef, restaurant manager, sous chef ect HAS to know the intricacies of the whole business in order to be successful. Even if you own your own business, being knowledgeable and skilled in all these areas is invaluable. On a personal note, because of this program, I have a really great job (great pay and benefits) literally waiting for me even though I won't be available for another 6 weeks. Respect: Whenever you have a diverse group of people who have different types of learning and communication styles there is bound to be conflict. That said, in the past almost 2 years I have seen (or been part of) very little. The instructors promote respectful interactions amongst all students. They do this by modeling it, empowering students to work things out (like adults) on their own but also being available when intervention is necessary. Between my age and a physical condition, that often leads me to feel a bit of confusion, I have made many mistakes (and sometimes tears of frustration). I have never been made to feel stupid, bad or wrong. I have consistently been patiently guided towards success, encouraged and lifted. And I have seen this over and over towards all the students (the instructors have the patience of saints cause sometimes working with this group of students can seem like herding cats). In closing, this I know to be true; Whatever you put your attention on you will get more of. I am finishing this program with so much more then I ever expected to gain.. The truth is that this program isn't right for everybody but sadly some people have to make something else wrong just because it isn't right for them.. read more

I had attended and dropped out of three different schools over a number of years before enrolling at EDCC. EDCC was small enough for me to not feel overwhelmed. You can get to classes without walking forever and things are conveniently located. There are a lot of online classes available. There are excellent tutorial and disability services at this school. There is abundant help available if you need it. The staff and teachers really care if you succeed or not. The classes are small enough that you are not just a number. You can ask questions and get answers in class and make appointments with the teachers. There are a lot of class options for a community college. I finally completed my AA in my mid 50's and am now finishing my bachelors at CWU on the same campus. I think Edmonds Community College is a great option and is more conducive to actual learning than any other school that I have attended. I'm encouraging my son to attend there when he finishes high school I think he would hate just being a number at a large university as much as I did. The tuition is much more affordable than the universities! So many people have discovered the advantages of the school that parking has become a nightmare though. If you can take the bus or walk, it will be less stress! read more

The professors and classes were all pretty good, but the full-time staff that run the enrollment desk need to get their act together. I spent three days trying to get my official transcript sent out. Day one, they couldn't find my information in their system and said they'd call me back. Day two, I waited all day and nobody got back to me. Day three, I called them again, only to find out that I would have to pay them again to get my transcript sent out because they still couldn't find my information and thought I used the wrong service in the first place. Ten minutes later, they call back and tell me that they found out what the problem was and that they would send it out as soon as my degree was posted. After three days of trying to fix this, after three days of knowing my name and student ID number, after today when they thought I was at fault instead of trying to actually look for my transcript request, they finally find it. They didn't even apologize for all the trouble they put me through. This isn't even the first time this has happened. My brother had to call in and insist that they find his information and send the transcript out that second after twenty minutes of fighting them because they didn't do it right the first time. If you only want an associates degree, or if you aren't going to transfer any credits you get there to another school, it might be worth it, but you're better off finding a better school. read more
