Salmon Bay k-8 does their best to keep their students engaged and learning. They care about the…read moremental mindset of their students with many activities throughout the year so school isn't just about writing on paper. They also have very good special education with many staff members jobs being dedicated to helping students learn they way that they want to. The one thing that I don't like about the school is the people who attend it. But to be honest, people ruin everything so I shouldn't be surprised.

It's not about punishment, it's about building relationships while giving consequences. Five of my children have attended here. We are a multi-race family. They have encountered racist jokes, jabs and hate- which you will find at every school- however, if someone speaks up about it then it is dealt with immediately. They go above and beyond to help families.

I was very confused as to what steps to take to enroll and even though the college's emails were helpful, I wanted some one on one assistance. So on my day off from work, I drove over and found my way to the Admissions office. I was greeted by the most wonderful woman and I hate that I cannot remember her name, but she was extremely kind and even left her desk at the back of the room to show me where to go to speak to an advisor. When I got to the building across the hallway, I was greeted by a very sweet woman named Ella who helped me set up an advising appointment. Although I hadn't planned on it, I also took a Math and English placement test in their testing center. Everyone there was very nice and helpful. When I met Ella for the appointment, I was really nervous about starting school again, but she was very helpful and offered to look over my transcripts from my four previous schools to help me decide what classes to take. She also eased my fears about my learning disabilities and so forth. The campus itself is really nice. I parked behind the buildings in the visitor parking so I had to walk halfway across campus to find the buildings I needed. But it was a nice walk. The campus is spread out but not so much that you would find yourself turned around. It can be confusing at first, but I found my way to the student union and looked around. It's very nice and spacious and there is a nice bookstore inside. The store was closed but I'm looking forward to checking it out. I am so excited about starting school in the fall and I think I'm going to love being an Edmonds College Triton. I'll keep you posted. =)

I attended SCDS from kindergarten to 5th grade. The facilities are pretty nice, with the middle…read moreschool and gym both being built within the last 10 years, and the rest of the buildings had been remodeled and taken care of regularly when I attended it. Most of the teachers there seemed to care about the kids, and tried their hardest. Special shoutout to the 4-5 science teacher, Doc O, who was my favorite teacher I have ever been lucky enough to have. Despite us only being in 4th and 5th grade, she always treated us like we were older. Her class taught me so much of what I know today. However, I didn't love all the teachers. I didn't really learn that much Spanish in their Spanish program. Plus, the administration there never seemed to get anything done. For example, I knew someone who was getting bullied. When I brought it up to the counselor, there was no punishment for the kid. Really? SCDS isn't strict enough. The school environment felt very elitist. Because the tuition is so high, the school is predominantly middle-upper class white kids. The school also only accept kids in the 97% percentile or better in IQ tests. White, smart rich kids. To be fair, almost all of the kids that I met there were really nice. Just the whole environment always felt a little snobby. Finally, coming out of SCDS, I felt like I jumped into a pool of cold water when I went into public school. The difference is night and day. If you are at SCDS right now, then I'm warning you if you are going into public schools any time during your life: it's totally different. In all, I liked this school. Maybe it wasn't a perfect fit for me, but I liked it. However, I didn't pay for it. If I was a parent, I'd send my kid to public school and save my 30k per year. Cheers!

My commencement was the week before my the commencement for my high school diploma from Shorewood High School, I was 17 years of age at both. It was cool to be able to earn credits for both high school and college as part of the Washington State Running Start program. While attending Shoreline Community College, I split my extracurricular activities - taking part in clubs here and sports through the high school. The student body was diverse, which I enjoyed. I still remember a particular group I was part of in a history/political science class where I was 16 years of age, another person was 24 years of age, and a third person was 40+ years of age with a 20 year old son... The 40+ year old even said they had a hard time taking me seriously because I was so young. I appreciated honesty and transparency like this from the students. My classes were across the board above average from my perspective and I can say there was not a bad experience in my two years here. When classes were close together temporally and spaced physically apart, I found I had to walk fast to make it to my next class on time. Parking was easy to find if I came early enough in the morning, otherwise it could be a bit of a wait. The bookstore was a magical place to me, where I could get textbooks, snacks, and other school supplies. Happy to have attended, and graduated from, Shoreline Community College.

The teachers are okay there are some who are just very strict so uhh !! Math is either confusing for me or she teaches us stuff that we already know but it's ok as long as i'm not having to do a lot of work i'm fine with it but like my math teacher be giving us test like once a month which is uhh A LOt. Sometimes when it's passing period everything is just wild like there is a lot of pushing and very crowded place also the passing period time is only 5 minutes and in my opinion i think that's a little too low for me, one of the biggest issue are the kids fighting like i'm just trying to get to my locker and then some kid fights and pushes me on my locker like what go do it somewhere else Lastly the lunch is like very nasty but there could be a random day when the lunch is just very good but that happens once in a while so..! I rate this school a 7/10
