I kept trying to sign up online but was unable to. After many attempts at calling the company directly I was able to reach someone and sign up. They told me I couldn't sign up by phone The course was a good course, but they haven't emailed me my course completion certificate. I've tried calling the local office but keep getting put on hold only to be directed to an answering machine. I have left messages explaining my situation but this far haven't received a response. I haven't had any problems with this company in the past. Maybe they have labor issues? Whatever the reason customer service pretty much sucks read more

Spacious setting and easy parking. Just wished the classes were held in the morning as oppose to in the evening. A bit pricey for the class: $220 (ACLS) and $90 (BLS) I do have to say the 800 number is great; they are responsive to answer any questions. read more

I would not recommend them. The staff's attitude was horrible. The instructor started the training session arguing with me instead of apologizing for showing up late. Her attitude was pathetic, and I would never recommend them. I'm a fan. I've been taking classes at Cascade for as long as I can remember. Usually it's ACLS and PALS, but most recently, I took TNCC. General tips for those of you heading this way: They have a coffee machine, but nothing fancy. Powdered creamer and sugar, but it gets the job done. Please be aware that the Tully's that was formerly sharing the same parking lot has now closed. The nearest espresso is at Byen Bakery a few blocks down. Byen is also your best bet for lunch. There's a Thai place that's in the same plaza as Cascade, and while it's passable, it's not out of this world. There's is also a chain pizza place within walking distance (Alfy's, perhaps?) and they do pizza by the slice and have salads. I did not see a microwave at the facility, so if packing a lunch, keep that in mind. Parking in the lot is generally sufficient if you arrive early or on time. As far as instructors go, I have had nothing but great experiences with every single one. You will get medics and RNs primarily, and they are into supporting the students and not the high pressure stuff of yesterday. The environment is casual and they make sure to give sufficient breaks. If you can take TNCC with Linell and Pam, DO IT. They are super fun and great teachers. It was by far the best TNCC class I've had. They are accommodating and calm, and while they make it clear that you must study to pass, they also make sure to hit the high points and make sure everyone can follow along. Highly recommend. The one last thing I'd like to mention is to dress in layers. Some rooms are cold, some are hot, and it's best to wear something light and then have a sweater or jacket on standby. They have filtered water, but you'll want to bring your own bottle. All in all, I think you'll have a great experience with Cascade. read more

Yesterday, I attended a BLS (Basic Life Support/CPR for Healthcare Provider) class to renew my certification required by my University. I chose to renew my BLS certification at this location for a few reasons: 1) Time availability - Cascade had many classes available throughout the week, so I chose a time that fit extremely well into my schedule. 2) Location - It was en route between the airport and my home - which I had to drop my boyfriend off yesterday morning at the airport. 3) Price - comparable to local competitors 4) High ratings on Yelp While the above points were important in choosing where I went to renew my CPR certification, I am very regretful of my choice. Here is my experience from yesterday's class: Pros: 1) Ample parking - There are many parking spots around the building. Even though Cascade had many classes going on at the same time, I had no problem finding a spot to park. 2) Nice building - the building is nice, clean, and air-conditioned. 3) Fast delivery time of my AHA card - while the AHA is the company that emails out the AHA card (and not Cascade), I received mine in exactly 24 hours, so I was happy. Cons: Before I continue with my list of "cons", I must disclose that I used to be a CPR instructor and a lifeguard so I am extremely passionate about ensuring that people have proper tools and knowledge in saving lives if needed. With that being said, I felt strongly that my instructor in yesterday's class was poorly trained and poorly communicated information to my class. 1) Extremely Small Room = Less Training Mannequins to practice on = Less practice time & Questionable Hygiene Issues: The room we were placed in was extremely small. There were ten students and only five training mannequins were set up. Our group was split into two groups, where the one group practiced while the other group watched, and vice versa. This set-up cheats students from having sufficient practice time. If the room was bigger and an adequate of training mannequins were set up, then everyone could practice without having to wait their turn to practice their skills on a mannequin. Even though we were using pocket masks, I do have concern that sharing training mannequins is not completely hygienic. Everyone should have their own mannequins that have been properly sterilized. 2) The Instructor lacked significant knowledge and missed extremely important teaching points: One of the most important thing while executing CPR is actually the step that preceding CPR, which is ensuring that 911 is called. My instructor yesterday did not tell my group this very important point!!! I was flabbergasted, and I had to raise my hand to share and explain this point with my class. Another instance was when another students asked about the exact locations to where one can place AED pads, and the instructor did not know the answer, and thus, I had to provide the answer. 3) The Instructor did NOT facilitate a class where we had enough opportunities to simulate emergency situations or practice our skills: It is very important that students become as familiar as possible with executing the steps in providing life support in emergency situations. Ideally, as an instructor, you would want your students to know the steps of CPR so well it becomes second nature - so in a real life emergency situation, they do not have to think so much through the steps - they can just execute what they have been taught and practiced. In every other CPR class I have attended, we would act out a simulated emergency situation and practice multiple times executing every step of CPR in sequence. During my class at Cascade, we simulated an emergency situation only once - the instructor did not give us enough time to even switch roles when we did two person CPR! Instead, our time was used up in practicing each skill separately, like just giving rescue breaths or compressions. Hate to break it to ya, Cascade, "Surveying the scene", telling someone to "call 911", and knowing when to implement the use of an AED are VERY IMPORTANT steps and should not be missed when teaching someone CPR, especially to health care professionals. 4) Thin walls - Since there were multiple classes going on in the building, it got really loud in our room. We could hear almost every conversation that was being carried out in the hallway. It was not a big deal for me, but it probably would be if you did not know CPR and was trying to concentrate on the lesson. Overall, I wished I had gone to a different location to renew my BLS certification. Taking this class was a waste of my time, and I do not recommend taking the BLS class at this location. read more

Had my BLS class cancelled twice with no advanced notification two weekends in a row.

I just finished a PALS initial course with Dave S. and he is excellent. Highly knowledgeable, clear, and efficient use of time. I dread going to PALS but Dave made it tolerable and interesting!!! I hope he continues to instruct the course. See you in two years. Thank you so much Dave!! read more

This organization is fantastic. The ACLS renewal course is practical and they don't waste time. They even supported me in my request to borrow equipment in order to teach some high school students about cardiac resuscitations. I just did the ACLS initial class and i have never enjoyed an ACLS class as much as this one. ( I last took ACLS in 2010 so I needed to start from scratch) It is taught by CCU Nurses, ED nurses, EMTs, paramedics, firefighters, people who have alot of experience in the trenches, and they do a great job with, to borrow their words, core concepts, the anatomy and physiology behind the decision trees, and their stories only serve to augment the learning. Did my ACLS renewal here yesterday. I feel conflicted about this place, I appreciated getting my ACLS renewed and not having to spend 8 hours watching lame AHA DVDs, but I felt like I could have learned a bit more. For renewal you get combined with the people who are taking ACLS for the first time (they come the day before the "renewal" portion. So you have this combination of people who are freaked out vs those who pretty much know what they're doing and want a refresher. What I didn't love about this place was all the editorializing that was done on the part of the instructors. I'm pretty sure at least 4 or 5 times I heard "well the ACLS algorithm says to do this, but really in practice you'd do this" which is all fine and dandy to add in your personal opinion about medicine, but I'm here to review the basics. I'm here to review the standard of care so that when I do deviate from the guidelines I know what I'm doing and why. I'm also a little annoyed that you get to use your ACLS handbook and cards to take the test - this is my 2nd renewal and I've always had to take the test from memory. The nice lady sitting next to me shared her materials with me, and I only double checked one answer and still got 100% - so really, is it too much to ask that people be expected to have some stuff memorized? All in all I would recommend this place if you were getting an ACLS renewal but I imagine you wouldn't get a ton out of it if you were getting certified for the first time. read more

I go every year. They're friendly and always have a lot of times available for BLS, ACLS, and PALS. Very professional and respectful of my time. They offer courses at my place of work but I prefer to go to the Nickerson location in Seattle. My employer still pays for it and it's easy parking and quick in and out. Thanks, Cascade! read more

I have to say, I was dreading having to get my CPR certification. I always have a hard time getting a class scheduled and the classes are so long and so boring. The last time I was certified it only lasted for 1 year, which is a big pain. The other issue was the class went way over the scheduled time. My friend referred me to Cascade Healthcare Services. She loved the fact that they have tons of locations to choose from. I decided to give them a try. The registration process was quick and easy. The instructor Chris was great!!! He made the class fun and it is extremely efficient. We completed the class on time and I got my certification card right away. The best part about it, is my certification is for two years. Great place to take the CPR class. I liked that it was easy to get to with plenty of parking. Our instructor made the class fun, which made the time fly by. There was plenty of hands on time, and he was able to check on everyone to insure they were doing everything correctly. When I took the class they hadn't gotten the newest books in yet, but he made sure that we had all the information in order to pass the test. I've been to plenty CPR classes, and i must say this class was one of the best classes i've attended. I came her for BLS training for nursing school, and I think this place was just on top of their stuff. Had everything ready and we didn't need to watch the full 5 hour video, thank goodness! and they offered free water and coffee. This place was nice and clean, and they do send you an email a day or two before your scheduled class date warning you that if you get cold easily, wear something warm to the class. The thermostat was set to 68 degrees. I don't know why i notice these things but i do! Anyway, our instructor Rachael was super nice and knowledgable. The end of session quiz was super easy too, there 25 questions total and you can miss up to 4, which is pretty easier because she goes over the quiz answers before you even take it. Anyway, one of the best CPR classes i've taken, wasn't boring at all and got to the point which i like. Parking was easy to find, they have their own parking lot, it looked full when i came but there are more parking spots on the side of the building, i actually found street parking which was like a 30 sec walk to the door. lots of parking! read more

I took Acls and Pals from Cascade in 2011. The updates and style of teaching amazing. its not military style anymore, I didn't cry haha. All the course instructors were great at feed back and sharing knowledge. There office is very nice and set up for learning. Coffee could be better, But I'm picking :) Both of my classes were taught by Travis and some other instructors, 4 total. Great ratio of instructors to students. Travis was very professorial and I will always look for his classes in the future. Thank you Cascade for great instruction and practical labs that make me prepared for the worst.
