I absolutely love this salon! Allison is amazing at color. I love that the salon has "colorists" who just specialize in color and I was very satisfied with the results. I came back and had a cut/style with Johnny and he is just the best! Let's just say my hair is really long and had not been cut in quite a while... he never made me feel bad about it, but instead made me feel excited about what he was going to do to fix it! I also appreciate the education the stylists give to their clients. They were not pushy on products, but after seeing the difference in my hair in a couple of days I purchased the bumble and bumble and my hair is healthier than ever! And there is wine. Which to me was just icing on the cake. read more

I can in last month for the first time after making with Allison for coloring my hair. Never being here before I didn't know what to expect, but I'm happy with my decision in coming here. When I sat down with Allison I told her what I wanted to do and she gave me her opinion on if it would fit me and I took it. Never doing balayage before I didn't know what to expect but I was lucky enough to get Allison for my first time. She completely saved my hair and taking it from being completely being dead on the ends to refreshing in and giving it a healthier natural looking tone. It is save to say I will be coming back here very soon. read more

Edit's team is as innovative and skilled as they are dedicated to superior service. I am so fortunate to have landed in Alison's chair! She is a truly talented balayage artist. Alison is constantly working to improve her balayage skills (despite my leaving the salon with the 'this is absolutely perfect' feeling every time). I also see Mila for cut. I never quite know what I'm looking for in a haircut, Mila mind-reads and makes magic. If you're looking for a salon where you'll leave feeling disappointed if you don't have major post-appointment plans to show off your fabulous hair, call Edit. read more

I just got an amazing haircut from Brittany!!! I had a bad hair-day for a solid month so I knew it was time for a cut, and my old stylist hadn't been "cutting it" lately (no pun intended). I went to Brittany at Edit Salon on a stunning referral from a friend and I couldn't be happier. The cut looks great and she even took the time to style it with a curling iron. She also taught me tips on how to style it myself at home. The salon atmosphere was clean, modern and the price was very affordable too! I'll be back FOR SURE. read more

Best haircut of my life w Pat. I have kinky fine curls and he gave me a long bob, w longer pieces in the front. I feel like this haircut was made for my hair type- or rather he gave me the best haircut for my hair type. Realistically gave me what my hair had potential to do. Very easy to maintain now- easier than having long curly hair. Would recommend this stylist to anyone and I intend to return. read more

At the risk of repeating words of high praise for EDIT and all its good people, including Herbie, I want to add my two thumbs up-or in this case- FIVE golden stars! Patrick has cut my hair beautifully and creatively for many years, despite my reluctance to change my look. He manages to make an already great style look fresh and, well, perfect for me every time! Dina has always been the rock star in the salon business end, with her product savvy and her organizational skills, plus she's a genuinely lovely person! Amy is my new colorist, and I am very happy with what she has done to make my highlights look natural yet very special. And she is an amazing make-up artist too! With such a dynamic team, it's easy to predict continuing and growing success. DO make an appointment-you will be more than satisfied. You'll be itching to write a great review! read more

Amy does the best color in Chicago. She can do funky, or she can do basic highlights and lowlights. No matter what she does it looks gorgeous and I barely even notice when it begins to grow out because it blends so well with my natural color. read more

I've been going to Edit Salon since 2012 and have continuously had a positive experience! I see Amy for color and Johnny for cut, and I always leave the salon with a fabulous, on-point color and cut. Both Amy and Johnny are awesome and I hope they stick around! read more

Above and beyond! Edit won me over with great customer service--and of course a great cut and color session. I started off the appointment annoyed because I was told they only had me down for color, when I knew I had made the appt 3 weeks prior for both a cut and color. When I signed in, I was told they didn't have time to squeeze me in for a cut and was asked to come in the following weekend to get one. I admittedly through a stink because it was inconvenient and coming to the salon the following weekend was not an option for me, as I scheduled my hair appointment for some upcoming events. Thankfully, Pat, the owner stepped in! He was willing to stay past closing, after his last appointment, to make sure I got the cut that same day. He really took his time and even continued to style my hair, well past after everyone else left. I cannot thank him enough for going out of his way and still delivering quality! I love my cut and my color too (thank you Shana)!!! I'll definitely be coming back! read more

I've been a client of Pat's for the last 4 years and absolutely LOVE Edit Salon. The beauty of Pat's haircuts is that they grow out beautifully. I've referred multiple friends to him, and whether it's a guy, short, medium or long hair, the cuts are edgy and chic. Congrats Pat for following your vision! read more

I have been seeing Amy for blond highlights for many years. She is the best-her knowledge of color is always spot on. Amy makes perfect suggestions on tweaking hair color especially during changing seasons and helps maintain amazing color for my hair type. I followed her to Edit Salon and couldn't be happier. I was introduced to Sasha and she is now cutting my long, fine hair. She also is amazing with hair and so nice. Edit is the only salon I will go to now! read more

Found this salon on yelp hoping to find a salon in the neighborhood where I work (Noble Square) and found this one, 749 ft from my office (ahahaha, seriously!). Read about Kate but just thought I'd walk in and see what's what. My weird luck, she had a cancellation and took on my unusual request of cutting my hair dry since I only needed her to fix a previous not-right haircut. She heard what I wanted to accomplish and just got it done, done, done. I have not been this happy with how my hair-DO looks in f-ing years. Literally. Yee-haw, welcome back from Austin, Kate -- Your neighbor who works for the tech company... read more

Really great service, from booking my appointment to getting my haircut. Johnny was super friendly, listened to what I was thinking and made the perfect suggestion. I'll be back for sure! read more

Edit is by far the best salon I've ever gone to. Amy is the best. She listens to what you want, is happy to give her opinion on different color options if you ask for it, and (as a bonus) is a fun person to talk to while you get your hair colored. The salon overall has a laid-back vibe, which I love. Did I mention they serve wine? read more

Got a haircut here for the first time last week because the yelp reviews were too good to not try it. Johnny was wonderful--I said I didn't know what I wanted or what would work with my hair, so he just explained to me what he was going to do, and I love it. It was a relaxing experience with just the result that I wanted (but didn't know I wanted), and I'll definitely be coming back. Thank you! read more

After a traumatizing experience with hair color modeling gone horribly, horribly wrong I knew there was only one place I could turn to rectify the situation. Larae, the woman who helped me on the phone was so kind and understanding of my busy schedule and was determined to get a thorough understanding of what was done to my hair to fix the situation. Worth every single day of waiting, and Allison did her transformation on my hair. After two bleaches and toning, my hair was back to its original platinum state, feeling better than when I walked in. Thank you Allison; you wonderful lady you. Follow her beautiful work at "allison_colors" on Instagram. I won't make this mistake again. Never stray from edit. read more

I wish I could give more than 5 stars to Edit Salon & specifically Samantha - because I have never been happier with a salon experience or stylist! It has taken me almost a decade to find a hair stylist where I am 100% pleased each & every time they do my hair (I am quite picky) - but Samantha is a ROCK STAR! Her cuts are always so meticulous and she takes her time with each one like she did my very first cut. I have been very pleased with the end result each time I have seen her and I never want to wash my hair after she takes the time to blow it out and curl it each cut! I'm willing to pay extra for a hair cut that I love, but Samantha is so reasonable with her prices! Not to mention you get a scalp massage with every shampoo :) She always has great style advice and shows me how to do my hair the way she styles it. I receive so many compliments every time I see her so I love getting my hair cut!! Go see Samantha! read more

I was so excited when I found out that Pat and Dina were opening their own shop. I've been seeing Pat for years now, and he's without a doubt as good as they come. He makes my hair look great every time, and tries different styles so I don't get bored. Dina runs the business flawlessly and is an absolute sweetheart, too. And Herbie is just the best. Love these guys -- highly recommended! read more

Great Salon! Patrick is really talented and just knows what he's doing. I have been going to him for years and not even once was I disappointed. He really listens to what you want, answers your questions and gives great suggestions. Highly recommended! read more

I used to be a salon hopper, ever since I left for college. After 10 years of changing salons after every hated haircut I finally found Patrick. One of my friends who is pretty particular about her hair has been going to him for years and I thought, if he can put up with her then he must be the guy for me. That was 3 years ago and I haven't looked back! I have never had a stylist that I trusted to do whatever they wanted before but he is fantastic! read more

What an amazing experience to come to edit salon. Firstly Yvette Bentley is THE best colorist I have ever had. She listens to what you want and will make sure it will suit you before coloring it. I will definitely be asking for her again. Secondly edit salon is amazing! The decor and ambience is really relaxing. The staff obviously get on well and it is reflected in the atmosphere. This salon is a must go to!!! read more

I found edit salon using yelp so I thought I would write a review to confirm why they deserve their 5 star status. I made my appointment for color with Amy after reading all of her awesome reviews and I was not disappointed. I came in with a significant grey outgrowth and "tiger stripes" from a previous highlight. I left with beautiful chocolate brown locks that still look great one week out! Amy then sent me over to Brittney who styled my somewhat boring bob with an on trend soft wave look. I was very impressed with the casual atmosphere coupled with talented, friendly, and unpretentious staff. I cannot wait to go back for a sassy cut to match my beautiful color. read more

My hairstylist of over 5 years got a new job out of state, so I had to find someone new. I did a lot of research and needed someone who knew how to cut long, thick hair just the way I like it. After seeing all the reviews, I called Edit and they scheduled an appt with Sasha. The salon was very nice and Sasha was awesome. I am very happy with my hair and that I found a new stylist! read more

My first time at Edit Salon was when it first opened. Patrick cut my hair and he did such a great job that I recently went back to have it cut/styled again. This time Patrick wasn't available and since I was short on time, I went with Sasha, who also came highly recommended. She also did an AMAZING job on my hair. I cannot say enough how much I love this place and what a great job they do. I am never going anywhere else :-) read more

I've been seeing Pat for years. He's fabulous. I don't have to tell him much -- he seems to know just what I want. I met Amy when Pat opened Edit. She has saved me a ton of money and ensures that my hair color looks great each and every time. Dina is always pleasant and welcoming. Herbie is a love. read more

I've been to many salons in Chicago over the last decade and had a great experience at Edit. I've been to many salons over the years and had a great experience with Annie. I have a TON of hair and it always takes a long time to cut it but she listened to what I wanted and was able to communicate what was feasible. I asked a lot from her but not only did I get the very sexy cut I asked for, but the cut was manageable and she gave me a lot of advice on how to style it without overwhelming me with product! I will definitely be back and highly recommend seeing her. read more

There are so many awesome reviews for this salon - you should definitely believe the hype and check it out. Laid back vibe, fabulous customer service, and competitive Chicago salon pricing for sure. I want to give a specific shout out to Sasha, though, because she was seriously out of this world. I arrived with serious bang issues (the "Britney Spears bang flop"...not pretty) and the need for some serious layer clean up. I feel I should also mention that I insist on keeping my bangs mid-length and sideswept despite three gnarly cowlicks along my hairline. Sasha not only actually listened to my hair woes, but did something about them. My finished layers were glorious and choppy and she actually added layers to my bangs - ridding me of "the flop" and creating weight to keep those stupid cowlicks under control. AHmazing. She didn't push any product on me at the end (they have an awesome array of Bumble on display) and instead waited for me to ask for new styling cream before making some quick recommendations. She even told me how to use the product at home in my attempts to recreate my salon style. Loved Sasha, loved Edit, will definitely be back. read more

Edit is a fabulous place to get your hair done. Patrick is absolutely the best, he transforms you. All of the stylists are spectacularly talented and kind. I almost hesitate to review them as I would hate for them to get too busy! But they really are worth it. read more

I just had a wonderful appointment with Melissa at Edit! I used to see Melissa at Art & Science in Evanston, but she's moved down to Edit and it's well worth the trip! I love the way Melissa does my hair! She's so friendly and attentive. I wouldn't go anywhere else!!! read more

Dana gives the absolute BEST haircut every time! I started seeing her while she was in training and have stuck with her ever since. Love my new haircut, which I got from Mila. I booked an appointment here, based on Yelp reviews, looking for some new ideas. She was great! I'll definitely be back. read more

I goofed up on the time of my appointment, despite them having sent me an email reminder and called when I was late (just coincidentally I didn't look at the email or get the phone call). It was TOTALLY my mistake, so I arrived an hour late for my appointment. They still fit me in, and everyone was so gracious about it, they didn't make me feel like an idiot, even though I was. Johnny was great; so kind and accommodating, and my haircut looks great. I hate pretension, and thank god there was none of that, just a great salon with very professional and friendly people!! read more

My hair is very thick and wavy - I usually dread going to the hairdresser because it can be hard to cut and manage. But my stylist, Amanda, was amazing! She washed and cut my hair with ease - not hurting me when she brushed or untangled knots. Highly recommended for anyone with difficult hair! read more

Had my hair cut (short cut) and my daughters cut(long cut) and styled. The cuts and styles turned out beautiful and very easy to maintain. Our stylist Amanda did a wonderful job and really listened to what we were requesting. The salon is very laid back and cute. We will return read more

I went today for a haircut with Gil, and I was happy to see every expectation I had met or exceeded here. I made an appointment online over a weekend and I received a reply within a couple of days which was totally fine considering when I made my appointment. LaRae was nothing short of awesome. She asked me some general questions about my hair and what I was looking for and we soon made an appointment for Friday (today!). There's lots of metered parking around so I found my spot and went it. There's a certain ease about the place. It's definitely more of a modern design but it's still very welcoming. I was greeted by someone immediately and asked if I needed anything like a water while I waited. I was 15 minutes early and Gil took me a little before my scheduled time, which made me feel great and I will tell you why. Every single hairdresser I have been to remarks on the sheer amount of hair I have. I have been told by almost all of them that I have enough hair for 4 heads, so when Gil took me a little early I was happy that my usual anxiety of running into someone else's time was allayed right away. As I sat in Gil's chair, he asked the usual questions but actually responded to things and asked me questions to figure out what I like to do with my hair and all that. I'll get to the haircut in a minute but I have to say I have NEVER talked that much during any hair appointment in my life. I tend to be an introvert but I was so at ease that I just babbled right away with him. I didn't even notice I was in there for an hour and a half. It seemed like 5 minutes and 6 hours all at the same time. We talked about so much but it just flew by. Gil is a scream and I am happy to say I will be returning to him because I GOT THE BEST HAIRCUT OF MY LIFE. He took my lower-back length metric ton of hair and gave me a nice shoulder length cut with layers that I can't stop looking at. He told me about how this cut will really work well with both my desired effort in styling (minimal day to day, put more work in to look really super) and what plays well with my hair. It's a mixture of wavy curly that can't seem to make up its mind and I think it's going to look SO good with this new cut. I already rescheduled for November and can't wait! If you have a lot of apprehension about just what to do with your hair, I wouldn't hesitate for a second and book an appointment. (If you're not sure who to go to, do what I did and just let LaRae decide depending on your goals and hair type. I figure they know their stylists way better than I ever could!) Thank you again for such a great experience, Edit!!!! I will see you in November! read more

I've been going to Allison and Mila at Edit for the past two years, and I have had an unbelievably amazing experience. First of all, the space is beyond gorgeous (and the complementary wine doesn't hurt either). Second, the staff is incredibly friendly, sweet, and accommodating. Allison's balayage in particular is absolutely beautiful - I've never had better color that has grown out so evenly and looks so natural. I used to think my hair wasn't anything to write home about, but Allison's color and Mila's cut has given me so much confidence. I cannot recommend Edit, Allison, and Mila highly enough! read more

Yvette Bentley is THE best colorist in Chicago, hands down. I was so excited to find her again here at Edit (after losing touch for a bit when she changed salons). I cannot say enough good things about Yvette. I swear, she has a magic touch. My color looks AMAZING after she gets her hands on it. No matter what I ask, Yvette listens and delivers. Plus she's super sweet and fun! The whole staff at Edit is lovely. A very down to earth yet totally hip place with a great, laid back vibe. Love it!! read more

I was in need of some major editing and I relied heavily on reviews for my salon choice. I drove 2.5 hours to Edit and I am SO glad I did. I have thick, coarse, wavy hair. It was long and strong and beautiful until I let a "professional" lighten it what was supposed to be "just a little". It was fried **cries**. It was coming out in handfuls and I had a break-line at my ear all the way around my head. The integrity of my hair was ruined. I was told by other stylists that with my type of hair to cut it short would be a poofy disaster. I walked around with hidden nasty hair for 6 months putting all the expensive creams and conditioners on to no avail. I need you to understand how bad my hair situation was. I had grown it long and strong for 7 years (it was only mid-back as my hair grows SO slowly) and in just 1 hour all of that work was for nothing. I was so sad and angry and I really had no idea what to do... I made an appt at Edit and emailed with LaRae back and forth, telling her of my hair woes. She set me up with Chase and I came in with some chin length (and shorter) pictures of what I hoped was possible as my heart couldn't handle a pixie cut. He was so understanding of my anxiety and assured me that he could make the cut I was hoping for work great for me. He was even able to let me keep more length than I thought i'd have. It was such a chill place, offering refreshments as soon as you come in. I was devastated when I walked in and ECSTATIC when I walked out. Those people are hair ARTISTS! I never dreamed I would LOVE the short hair cut that was forced upon me by a chic who obviously had no idea how to use bleach but.... I do. I am SO happy with this cut. He layered and chopped a perfect short cut onto my head and it looks AMAZING. All the people who told me that I couldn't pull off a short cut are now gushing over my new hair which, by the way, feels and look GREAT. A huge thank you to Edit Salon and to Chase. Whether you are looking for a fresh new look or an "edit" ;) you need to take your business to Edit Salon and their amazing staff. read more
