Edison Long Beach is an amazing apartment community. From lobby and amenity spaces to modern apartment layouts, I fell in love with this building 5 years ago, simply from a virtual tour! I love its adjacency to downtown, which seats you in the heart of the East Village Arts District, an 8 minute walk from the beach and amidst the fun of city events. Its location incites becoming more active and opting for more local foot travel. What I appreciate most about this building is the maintenance and community events teams. Mike and Jose Luis are patient, respectful and caring anytime you need support in your unit. Submitting maintenance requests via AppFolio is also a breeze. The community events hosted by Anyssa and Maddie are also a great way to mix and mingle with folks in the community. We've had food trucks, taco nights and even community night markets allowing entrepreneurs within the building to share their talents. Having such events allows everyone to have day-to-day privacy with curated spaces for fellowship. Any miscellaneous needs or thinking of switching to a different unit? Ronnie is a pleasure in the leasing office and will welcome you with warmth and compassion. The Edison is a quiet, high-end commercial conversion that was renovated in 2017. It was formally a branch of City Hall and the police department in its past. Amidst living in earthquake territory, I feel very safe here and appreciate the build quality matching its beautiful aesthetic. A couple of things to consider: 1. There is parking for one vehicle per unit, though there are 3 garages within one block that provide monthly parking options for additional vehicles. 2. There is no concierge service in the building for deliveries, though night time security guards are present and a new virtual entry system allows you to open the lobby door via app with video and audio access. You are also able to create virtual keys for visitors! read more

I would give over 5 stars if I could! Def my most favorite place I've ever lived. I've toured apts in the IE, OC + all over the LBC + ultimately decided on Edison for so many reasons. The ONLY reason i'd move out is to be closer to work (I currently commute for work but LOVE getting to come home here every day) - it makes the commute so worth it! Juanita is the best/most kind/excellent community director I've ever met. She is constantly looking for ways to elevate the building + the living experience + genuinely cares about people. I probably speak with Ronnie the most because I'm always asking random questions (lol) + each time I'm met with insane kindness, knowledge + simply just the best vibes. So grateful. Mike + the maintenance team are the best I've ever experienced at an apt bldg. They are quick, efficient + sooo kind! Any maintenance issues get resolved immediately. No waiting + wondering if someone is coming to help, you can trust that they're on it! (Honestly so rare!) Genuinely all of the staff are excellent at what they do + are the most kind people. They're super intentional about the community they create here + LOVE to host an event! We get free, fun events for almost all the holidays + they even host market nights!! + there's always free coffee in the lobby. FYI -The bldg/parking garage are super secure. I've never had any issues + I've even been away for weeks at a time when I travel for work + my apt, car + packages are safe + untouched. I've even had stuff delivered while I was away for work + the staff was kind enough to put it in the package room/apt for me - all you have to do is ask! -Great amenities/perks! Most of the photos on Yelp are outdated + don't show the upgrades!! You really have to tour in person to see how beautiful (+ honestly fun) it is here. There are so many gather/community spaces, epic rooftop views + a rad game area. -Keep in mind the valet trash, parking, package room are amazing perks that you pay for. Just something to factor into your budget. I believe we also partner with a dry cleaning service!? Super cool if that's something you need. -The location is 10/10. So many shops, restaurants, bars, coffee shops, creative things, the beach, the pike, all in walking distance! Scooters are always parked nearby if you need to go a little further too! -You can only rent 1 parking spot per apt so if you have a roommate it's something to think about. I honestly host my friends a lot + it's never been an issue. -Sunset view apt is top tier but that also means your windows are above the metro line A which can be noisy if you're not into typical city traffic/noise. It's honestly normal for LB but something to note if you need absolute silence. -The 1 bdrms are not fully closed in so you will get light pollution. You'll need to invest in a sleep mask or blackout shades if you need full darkness to sleep. (I haven't had any issues with it + use a sound machine for the city noise), just something to be aware of. -The community here is the BEST. All the residents are so nice + so many ppl have pets!! I love how pet friendly it is here + love meeting everyone's pups. -The rooftop views are out of this world. Coming home from a long day of work + drinking a glass a wine +/or reading (or doomscrolling) on the rooftop makes me feel like I'm in a movie lol highly recommend. Even the rooftop restrooms have insane views!! -They are Airbnb friendly if you want that option. I personally am not a fan of Airbnbs lol, but love that it gives residents an opportunity to make some extra cash. TIPS -Call before you tour to see what deals they have going on! Like if you apply within 24hrs of touring you get a deal on "x". Just call + ask! -Get a wagon to keep in your car/closet for big grocery hauls. Makes life easier lol -Use the service elevator for move in day! It's bigger :) they also have carts for you to utilize!! -PLZ TAKE A TOUR !! Trust me, just take the tour!! The bldg, the staff, the community - honestly just everything is 10/10 + the tour will really showcase everything they offer here (like FLOOR TO CEILING WINDOWS!) I genuinely can't say enough great things about this place + the people who curate the experience for us. I knew I loved the bldg when I toured, but seeing how the staff interacted with the residents during the tour really sold it for me. The community here is unmatched. Period. read more

I'm leaving a review about my experience visiting this complex. We scheduled an appointment in advance and chose a specific time in our work schedule to come and see the apartments. In the end, we arrived about 8 minutes early just to make sure we wouldn't be late. A young man opened the door for us (surprisingly unfriendly, which is strange for a leasing manager). He started by asking if we brought our documents and what our names were, and then told us that there had been a mistake and that we were scheduled to view the apartments together with other people. There was no apology, no offer of water or coffee -- nothing. We had already arrived, and apparently we were expected to sit and wait for the others so we could see the apartments together. I didn't realize that this was their idea of an "individual tour." That sounds more like a group tour. When we said we didn't want to wait for other people, he responded with: "But you came earlier..." At that point I was honestly speechless. We prepared everything, arrived slightly early to make sure everything would go smoothly, and instead we were told there was a mistake -- and somehow we were the ones at fault for arriving 8 minutes early. I was honestly shocked. The building itself looked dirty and the windows were dirty as well. Of course we canceled everything and will never return. Thank you for wasting our time. read more

I got bedbugs in this building and without inspecting common areas or neighboring apartments they claimed I caused the problem and charged me $1,500. Completely illegal, I would not trust these people to protect me from bedbugs they are trying to profit off of the problem. To be clear they did not inform anyone or inspect any other residents or even the common areas. These people are not to be trusted. read more

Really impressive staff and a unique building with rich history. Originally the corporate headquarters for Edison electric company, then a police headquarters, then an art gallery and now apartments. The place is built super sturdy with concrete floors. Barely hear neighbors The few times there were building issues the team handled it gracefully and treated us tenants to little snacks and comfort items. I remember there was a big upgrade done to the water pipes and was worried about lack of water. The day work was done I didn't even notice until water was restored - as if there was no disruption. Mostly interacted with Ronnie a leasing agent who was always kind and speedy. Wish I could've stayed longer - or taken the team with me. read more

The building managers and staff are awesome. Since we moved in in 2021 whenever we've had an issue, they were quick to respond and took good care of us. I definitely lived in buildings before where I had less caring and interested managers or landlords, but this is not the case here the lobby is always well stocked with coffee and the grounds are clean and safe. read more

I just moved into this apartment and I have to say out of all the apartments I moved to I've never been treated this well. Customer service was amazing any question, request or call I made was met quickly and promptly. The move in process was easy and the staff was very accommodating. The maintenance staff here are top tier. Omar and his team make sure to keep the amenities and units in great shape. Whenever we have issues in our apartment, they respond and fix it in a timely manner. The community areas are always so clean and smell so good! The amenities are some of the main reasons we made the move here. The gym has all the basic things you need for a great workout! The rooftop views are insane! And the dog wash station is just a plus. Edison is overpriced for the space, safety, and service you are receiving. You can do better elsewhere. Comments on Security Deposit: Be prepared to NOT receive it back. Also, be prepared to pay on top of your security deposit a large sum consisting of hidden fees. We paid an additional $650 on top of the security deposit that we didn't receive back. If you're thinking of hanging up a TV, don't*. They charged us $400 to repair as the management described "4 small holes" in the wall. Comments on Security and Safety: Homeless person was found wondering on one the floors. A fellow tenet said the homeless man was banging on his unit trying to get in. Had multiple packages stolen. Don't expect management to do anything about it. Comments on Management: Really disappointing. I expected top tier service with this high cost of living. Poor communication. Don't have a pleasant welcoming aura. Felt, like I was asking too much of them for everything I asked. Doesn't pick up the phone right away. Comments on the 1 Bedroom Units: I paid close to $3,000 a month for a "1 bedroom." The Edison labeling these units as a "1 bedroom" is highly misleading. It's a studio. There's "a bedroom" zoned in the center of the unit with walls that don't touch the celling. In my opinion, I think they label these units as "1 bedrooms" to up charge the rent. If you are interested, I highly recommend taking a tour before signing a lease. The layout isn't conducive to hosting guests. Guest can easily hear you in the bedroom and even bathroom. There's only one small window, so be prepared to use AC during hot days. This cost adds up high during the summer months. Comments on Hidden Fees: They charge you for Pest Control (never was shown proof of this service being done). You are also charged a Service Fee every time you pay rent (never given an explanation why). Cleaning Fee - $275 when you move out. I thought this was a ridiculous price and asked for the breakdown. Here it is: Complete Clean - $180 Refrigerator Cleaning - $20 Deep Cleaning - $75 Why are these separate cost? To charge you more money. Comments on Parking: Parking is an additional fee of $100. You are only allowed one car. This made it challenging for myself and boyfriend to allocate parking. One of us had to park in a different parking lot about 0.4 miles away. No guest parking. Makes it difficult to host guests. Garage isn't secure. It was broken numerous times. I stored a cart under my car to bring groceries in and it was stolen. I stored shocks for my car under my car and it was stolen. read more

The leasing office is very friendly and helpful when you need something and they are usually here until about 8pm which is nice. We were seriously looking at an apartment here but after calling numerous times to reach out and being treated so rudely over the phone, we reconsidered with consequences of other reviews we looked at. One in specific: Saige S. on 1/5/2024: "Edison is overpriced for the space, safety, and service you are receiving. You can do better elsewhere." Then we went on to another 1-star review from Thefuture S. in Carson, CA about the deplorable conditions of the common areas. We were hung up on 7 different times trying to get through to a leasing agent. These are high-end apartments so is it safe to assume they would have upper-echelon employees running the front desk? The Corporate Owners needs to take a long, hard look at the professionalism of their staff, regardless if it's a potential-client, current resident, vendor or whatever the case. The apartments and amenities rival other downtown options that I toured, but I decided on the Edison after a friend's recommendation. The concrete floors and floor to ceiling windows are what really sold me, there are great views in most of the apartments. The rooftop pool is lovely in the summertime and a great place to meet other residents. They are very pet friendly with a pet washing station and a treat bowl that is often in the lobby. I've rented under two different property management companies in this building and the current company is great with planning resident mixers or bringing in food trucks every so often, the entire staff is welcoming and helpful if you ask! We moved into the Edison in May of this year (2023). It has been a great experience. Unfortunately, Bri (one of the leasing consultants) is no longer here but she was absolutely the driving force for us to move in. While looking at other communities here in DTLB, Bri and Edison were the ONLY community that let us walk in and tour and actually made us feel welcomed. The other locations we had walked into were either not available for touring or made us feel like it was a bother. AMC, make sure to not lose the human element: we need and want your leasing agents. Although, Bri is no longer here, Luigi and Juanita are amazing and will take absolute great care of anything you need. We walk by the office almost everyday and they are there with a smile and ready to help you. If you have ever been worried about maintenance: don't be here. My wife and I have had quite a bit of maintenance requests (very small minute items) but Luis always takes care of us. Luis and Yesenia are literally our morning people we always say hi to. Both always have such a great smile and attitude and we are very lucky to have them taking care of the community. AMC don't let your amazing staff go anywhere else, they all are what make the property such a great place to live. read more

I lived here a year and it was the most stressful, overpriced, unclean, dismally run down, always breaking, every month without heat, water, AC, or all three. The units are cross-metered so who knows whose bill you're paying... AND when you move out? May as well wipe your hands of it and not clean at all because no matter how clean you make it, they'll make sure you owe them money at the end of the day! Nice! The absolute worst place to live in Long Beach. What a joke. $2400 for a studio bedroom under 400sq ft. RUN AWAY. I would not be surprised if this building is condemned within a year. read more

Tons of random hidden fees when moving out like pest control, fee refrigerator cleaning, and fee additional cleaning fee. I cleaned the place before leaving in hopes to get more of my security deposit back because I knew some would be use to patch the small holes where I hung a tv. They took my whole security deposit plus $600+ extra. Also had a few packages opened in the mail room and the thief left the box empty. At least I knew it was stolen lol. Anyone looking to stay here also should expect around a week to fix any type of problem such as a clogged drain or leaking faucet. Was also charged monthly for a trash service/trash can I never had. read more

It's now the middle of January 2024 and we moved here in early November 2023. I'll start by saying we're extremely thrilled about living here! We searched and visited many other apartments/condos in the downtown area and the Edison is where we decided to call home. I understand that new management is in place so I can't speak to any past reviews, but what I can tell you is that there's a GREAT team here. From the front office personnel, to the maintenance team, to the cleaning staff, everyone has been fantastic! Special shout out to Juanita and the rest of her team, Shelley, Luigi, Bri, Omar, and the latest addition Anyssa! We recently experienced an unexpected water line break in the building and were without water for approximately three days. The entire team jumped into action to quickly begin initiating the necessary repairs. The repairs were made but somehow the line ruptured again, causing further downtime. For me it's always the little things that impress me. The entire team always had a smile, made sure several announcements/updates were made via email and text, physically passed out water bottles directly to our front door, provided coffee and snacks, and brought in port-a-potties. I've never seen a team work together to ensure the residents were as comfortable as possible. I passed by the front office late at night to go for walks and I would see ALL team members present, I assume discussing the game plan for the days to come. They worked hard and definitely put in some long hours during the water line break. I'm one of the residents of the Edison Apts. This apartment complex is an excellent place to live. The units are clean and all the functionality of the appliances is top notch. Omar and Jose Luis from maintenance immediately attended to follow-up to ensure that the maintenance work has been performed to the residents satisfaction. The staff Juanita, Luigi, and Anyssa working in the office are the most kind, friendly and helpful. They will go out of their way to make your move and the subsequent stay at the Edison is of the highest quality.
