I love its adjacency to downtown, which seats you in the heart of the East Village Arts District, an 8 minute walk from the beach and amidst the fun of city events. Its location incites becoming more active and opting for more local foot travel. What I appreciate most about this building is the maintenance and community events teams. Mike and Jose Luis are patient, respectful and caring anytime you need support in your unit. Submitting maintenance requests via AppFolio is also a breeze. The community events hosted by Anyssa and Maddie are also a great way to mix and mingle with folks in the community. We've had food trucks, taco nights and even community night markets allowing entrepreneurs within the building to share their talents. Having such events allows everyone to have day-to-day privacy with curated spaces for fellowship. Any miscellaneous needs or thinking of switching to a different unit? Ronnie is a pleasure in the leasing office and will welcome you with warmth and compassion. The Edison is a quiet, high-end commercial conversion that was renovated in 2017. It was formally a branch of City Hall and the police department in its past. Amidst living in earthquake territory, I feel very safe here and appreciate the build quality matching its beautiful aesthetic. A couple of things to consider: 1. There is parking for one vehicle per unit, though there are 3 garages within one block that provide monthly parking options for additional vehicles. 2. There is no concierge service in the building for deliveries, though night time security guards are present and a new virtual entry system allows you to open the lobby door via app with video and audio access. You are also able to create virtual keys for visitors!

After 6.5 years at The Current, I've made the difficult decision to move on, and I'm genuinely…read morejealous of whoever gets my apartment next. Many apartment communities in Los Angeles County market themselves as "luxury," but few truly deliver on the fundamentals. The Current does. It starts with an exceptional management team that is responsive, professional, and genuinely invested in both the property and the community. That is paired with a thoughtfully designed, well-constructed building that is meticulously maintained and perfectly located. What sets The Current apart most is the quality of everyday living. This is the first apartment community I've lived in where noise has never been an issue, thanks to concrete construction, sound-insulated walls, and high-quality windows. The amenities are excellent, the common areas are well cared for, the views are spectacular, and the community itself makes it easy to meet neighbors and build lasting friendships. Simply put, The Current set the standard for apartment living for me, and I'm already experiencing a bit of FOMO knowing the 2028 Summer Olympics will be visible from the living room and balcony I'll no longer have. I highly recommend The Current to anyone looking for a place to call home.

I've been living here for almost four years. I have been generally happy with the place and would…read morehave likely renewed for another year if not for a HUGE red flag I can't get over (and I am not the only tenant bothered by it). The apartment signed me up for an insurance policy without my knowledge or consent, charging me an extra $35/month without notice until 3 months after I signed my last lease agreement. Instead of notifying me right away to amend the insurance policy I already had, they kept me in the dark for 3 months. Had I known at the beginning, I would have made the necessary changes. BUT another tenant who did update their policy continued to be charged $35/month anyway, so I don't know what's happening here. As I said, I've been a pretty satisfied tenant overall, but this lack of transparency is a red flag I can't ignore. Maybe communication with other or future tenants is or will be better, but miscommunication around financial obligations is a red line for me. Although I have many more months left on my lease, I have started looking at other places. Notably, these places are pretty up front about their internal insurance policies, which are significantly less than $35/month.

My only issue I've had have been other tenants harassing me for leaving positive reviews and speaking highly of the campus. Now, does the community have issues, of course. That is, as I stated in the last review, not exclusive to Camden alone. The staff here fight continuously to make this a great community and I'm thankful for that. Stick around long enough and this becomes a home. Ignore the negative nancys, live your own experience and give this place a shot. Plus, walking distance to great bars, restaurants and shopping??! Why not!

Then they fix them a few weeks later only for then to break again shortly after. 5. Get ready to be woken up by your neighbors burning food and it setting off the fire alarm at 1 in the morning. 6. Maintenance either seems understaffed or negligent. Or both. Simple maintenance requests get "completed" without the issue being resolved. I'll stop there I guess. I could go on but for the price - there isn't a whole lot of bang for your buck.
