I attended a long time friend's 90 year old birthday lunch at Natsunoya and she had a beautiful…read morecupcake cake in the shape of her age Ninety! It had pretty pink and white decorations on a red velvet cupcakes, arranged in the numbers of 9 and 0! Usually I don't like a lot of frosting but the frosting was not too sweet and it was creamy. It seems to have cream cheese in the frosting and the cupcake I had a pink macaron! You can tell the birthday person was so touched by the beautiful cake made of cupcakes! Her younger sister and family threw her a special party. I don't know if I'll live that long but there are a lot of church members who is reaching 100 or 102 years old! Any age o reached I would be blessed, but the older you get.. you will have more cupcakes to share! lol The cupcake was moist and enjoyed it very much. I'm glad I finally got to try their cake! I thought it was so beautiful and she was so blessed! The bakery is near a friend's business but everytime I'm near, the bakery was closed.

Such a cute bakery in Kaimuki!…read more Their website is user friendly. We ordered this while we were in another state. Very easy to confirm the date and time of pickup. They even text you a receipt as proof of purchase for the day that you pick it up. Since the eyes eats first :) This Chocolate cake is oh so pretty! It has some height to it and they show you the name plate (correct spelling) before they carefully place it into a special box with a window. The chocolate frosting is smooth all around. They delicately placed yummy chocolate candies along the top, strategically placed sprinkles along the bottom edge, and then hand crafted the special Happy Birthday name plate in gold. Now for the taste.... I would have to agree with the other reviews that said the cake was a bit dry or crumbly. It has the texture of something vegan without egg, fat, nor butter. I was trying to figure out if it was the type of flour they used. Perhaps it's just their style of cake? Like I mentioned earlier, the frosting is smooth. Maybe that's where all the butter or fat content is? I would have liked the cake layers to be a little more moist, but...when eaten together with the frosting it balanced out. Great service, cute treats, I'd come back to try other items...

I was too full at the moment to order more food, but I returned on my last evening in Oahu to order a slice of rainbow cake for myself. It was somewhat early in the evening -- probably around 6PM or so -- so the Royal Hawaiian Center food court was getting a little busy but there were still empty tables around. The bakery itself had a few people in line so I perused the display case for other desserts. They had quite a few interesting ones: lilikoi basque cheesecake, Diamond Head puff custard, ube cake. Unfortunately, my appetite is much smaller than it once was, but the cakes looked delicious and the people in front of me all ordered their cakes ahead of time, so they are quite in demand! The cashier took my order quickly and I was able to get a slice of rainbow cake, which had fluffy cream and moist layers of colorful cake. The flavor reminded me of fruity pebbles, but without being overly sweet the way children's cereal used to be. I really liked eating it because it didn't make me feel guilty eating a dessert. I hope I can return to Kulu Kulu sometime and try their other desserts a well!

They have beautiful displays of fancy desserts and on shelves cookies and Madeleines. I picked a few fruity desserts to try macarons, lemon tart, mango pudding, tropical fromage. I wanted to get their fruit tart but the fruit on top looked dry and not as pretty and glossy. My favorite was the tropical fromage which was light and airy with a really nice fruit flavor. The mango panna cotta was my second favorite which included the mango bits on top - a nice touch - and the cream nice and rich. Lemon tart had an odd taste to it. Should have went with the mush peach tart that didn't look as appetizing but probably better. The macarons were my least favorite especially the yuzu and passion fruit flavors that didn't taste anything like those fruits. For $2.50 I wish they were better and not as dry. I am glad I tried them but the prices were a bit much for me.
