She also took me to each aisle I needed to get my supplies. My second visit was on a Wednesday evening after work. Different clerk but same experience as far as offering to help. This time around she did admit she wasn't sure but she got the mgr who was equally helpful. It's unfortunate others haven't experienced the same service and not sure why but I definitely will be a regular. I am glad they finally placed one in East Hartford.

But I was wrong because Läderach is the family name of the company's owners! Be prepared when you walk past their front window and into the store, because you will see an eye-popping display of chocolate slabs speckled with all sorts of goodies. Those inviting slabs are "FrischSchoggi" and there are twenty types available. So, what in the name of the Swiss Alps is a FrischSchoggi? Well, it's a Swiss German term meaning "fresh chocolate," and refers to large, hand-broken slabs of artisan chocolate. The slabs are poured onto cooling tables and snapped by hand into irregular shards rather than neat, molded bars. To make them even better, they feature things like roasted nuts, freeze-dried fruits, and caramel. When we walked into the store, we were greeted by Anthony who had a fantastic personality and a tray of FrischSchoggi samples. Now, we all know that all chocolates are not made equal and some are better than others while some are a LOT better than others. The Läderach chocolates we sampled were so amazing we knew we'd be leaving the premises with a bag of something. The FrischSchoggi samples were so thick that even a small sized sample was a lot of chocolate to savor. They sell over 100 varieties of chocolate. Besides those incredible FrischSchoggi slabs, they offer pralines, truffles, and specialty boxes. We picked up a specialty box of 24 mini FrischSchoggi squares -three each of eight varieties with assorted mix-ins like hazelnuts, almonds, blackberry and raspberry, salted caramel, orange, pistachios, and milk. I had my first mini FrischSchoggi last night- a heavenly square of chocolate with Hazelnuts. Seriously, it was one of the best chocolates this chocolate loving Yelper has ever had. Price? Well, as you might suspect this is a pricey store. But trust me on this, their quality sure supported their price.

I remember going to a store in Bridgewater, CT many years ago, but I don't think it was actually a Bridgewater Chocolate store. That store sold BC's high end classic chocolates like turtles, toffees, patties and caramels though. I bought a bunch and thought they were outstanding. I already thought that West Hartford Center was kind of a cool place, but when the West Hartford Bridgewater Chocolate store first opened, I knew it for sure. With its beautiful chocolates displayed like expensive jewelry, the West Hartford store feels like a high end chocolate boutique that would be at home in Beverly Hills. Sometimes, I feel under-dressed when I go. I'm afraid they're going to kick me out Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman-style, but the BC staff never makes me feel that way. They welcome me and offer me a free taste of chocolate. It always works. I buy a few extra. If you like things done in a classic way, but at the highest possible level, BC is your place. The chocolates have perfect shapes and colors. If you don't like the look of a circle with uniform color, they've got stripes. Don't like long, flat and smooth pieces, they'll rough it up with some chopped nuts. You only want to buy chocolate in the shape of a top hat? That's kind of weird, but they've got you anyway. The toffee breaks in your teeth the exact way you had hoped it would. The nuts and caramel in the turtles crunch and stretch simultaneously. The caramels ooze when you bite into them. The milk chocolate tastes smooth and sweet, and the dark chocolate tastes deeply bittersweet and complex. You can buy curated boxes of chocolates in very cool boxes if you're buying gifts. You can also order by the piece and select the exact ones you want. BC has things like bars and containers of chocolate covered pretzels. Love the pretzels. Even BC's bags are classy. Food-wise, Bridgewater Chocolates is one of the most respected names outside of CT. It's 5 Stars for me every time.

Fascia's Chocolates is a family-owned chocolaterie that opened in Waterbury, Connecticut in 1964…read more It was founded by husband and wife John & Helen Fascia. An electronic technician by trade, John worked for the Bristol Company. He began to roast nuts and sold them at work to supplement the young family's income. In an effort to increase sales, he and Helen began making chocolates in their basement. In addition to chocolate nut clusters, they soon began to make caramels, toffee and creams. The chocolates became so popular that soon the Fascia's basement operation couldn't keep up with the supply and demand. By 1978, they opened their first retail store on Meriden Road. Two years later, John quit his job so he could make chocolate full time. John and & Helen were soon joined by their three young daughters Louise, Lynne and Laurie. In 1985, the business moved to an expanded storefront on Wolcott Street. As business continued to grow, the business would relocate to Lakewood Road in 1990, Thomaston Avenue in 2008, and finally to Chase River Road in 2013. The Fascia Family still runs the business, although John & Helen are now semi-retired. My family and I recently visited Fascia's Chocolates to attend a special "Chocolate Experience". We were escorted into a small room with other attending families. There we were greeted by Company President Carmen Romeo, who happens to be married to Louise Fascia. He quickly informed us, "I may be the President, but my wife and her sister are the real bosses." He gave us all a presentation where he discussed the history of the company as well as chocolate production in general. He gave all attendees samples of the three main types of chocolate (Dark, Milk & White) and discussed the differences. Afterwards, all children were able to make their own chocolate bar with their choice of toppings. My sons both picked rice cereal and Fruity Pebbles. We also got to take a look at what happens in the production area. After the experience, we all went into the retail shop and explored all of the delicious chocolates that Fascia's produces. While I distracted my sons, my wife discreetly purchased some chocolate coins for St. Patrick's Day and chocolate bunnies for Easter. We all had a great experience at Fascia's Chocolates and hope to enjoy their delicious chocolate again!

But given my 5-star review here, I stand by anything I said about this location last year. I absolutely LOVE coming here for a refreshing drink on a hot day! I always encounter nice staff here, and while small is consistently clean. I've sometimes used their drive-thru, and it's been an easy process every time with my order always being quick and efficient. Today's occasion ordering their Blue Hawaiian with electrolytes was no different. It hit the spot and was an excellent pick-me-up after my flight back home last night. So yeah, no matter what page this is on, I will keep coming here. It's always worth the walk and/or drive.

The employees are friendly, helpful, and efficient. The parking lot is big and there are enough cashiers on duty where you don't have to wait in line too long. Now for the items, it's a wonderland full of fantastic and affordable items. My favorite would be the food section (duh), because you can find snacks that you can't find in other stores. They sell all sorts of items from kitchen stuff, seasonal items like shovels/sleds, jackets, shoes, clothes, home goods, etc. Most likely what you're looking for is at Job Lot and for a fraction of the price. It was walking through a tunel at night, it was so dark inside. Whatever you may find at Job Lot, the prices will be a lot lower then anywhere else.

Again, which gas station hasn't had broken gas pumps from time to time? This place is central located and they do a ton of business. They're very heavily used pumps. And this place has been here forever. I haven't tried any of their warmed snack foods. I do stay away from gas station pizza and stuff like that but hey, it fills a void for others. I don't judge.
