I was in the area and after reading a few reviews I really wanted to visit this business and enjoy it. Upon walking up to the window, I was not greeted but I just continued to review the menu and place my order. After deciding what I wanted, I ordered Birria Ramen (which comes with a quesabirria taco), one additional quesabirria, a fish taco and queso with chips. The young lady taking my order was talking really low and had on a mask and I had to to keep asking her to repeat herself because I could not hear her. I let her know that I could not hear and I even apologized, saying I could not hear her that well. She then stated that she needed to walk away to get my total and I said okay. At this point, another Hispanic woman (who appeared to be one of the owners) believed there was an issue and made a comment about "special ingredients", as they both continued to laugh and speak in Spanish. At this point, my card had already been charged and I did not want to cause a scene for various reasons. I waited a while then walked back up to the window and the owner ( who had on a purple shirt) yelled at another customer who nicely told me to order what I had already ordered. The owner (purple shirt) then yelled my name and I walked up, grabbed the bag and said "Thank you" and she yelled "you're welcome", not in a customer service tone at all. That bag that was given to me contained two paper bags and a sprite, all of which were in a plastic bag. My bag did feel kind of light but I did not think anything of it as I was already feeling super uneasy about her stating "special ingredients" which, from my knowledge, felt like a threat of spit or something gross. I then left the establishment and, after being in traffic for so long, I briefly looked in the bag, but since I do not eat in my car, I did not completely open it. Once I arrived at my location, I checked the bag and noticed I was missing both Quesabirria tacos and after thinking about the "special ingredients", I decided that even though I spent 40 plus USC at this location, I was not comfortable eating the food. I immediately went onto Google and found the business email and explained that my order was missing the quesabirria. The owner, who had on a purple shirt , responded claiming that "I" the customer, had an attitude and that she was sure my quesabirria was inside. I sent her photos of the items in the bag and ensured her that the quesabirria was not there. The owner continued to send emails attempting to label me and imply that I was lying about the tacos. I informed Patricia that I would just contact my bank considering this situation. I believe any reasonable person would be disgusted by someone handling their food and making a comment about special ingredients. I would not recommend this business and I do believe there was some sort of prejudice against me as soon as i walked up to the counter. Once the transaction was done, I knew that asking for my money back would cause a scene and I was not willing to do that in public in a neighborhood such as Edgewater. I do believe my food was either spit at or sabotaged in someway. If I could make this business a negative zero, I would. The owner did not try to solve what could have been a human error in regards to the tacos but instead emailed back name-calling and labeling a hardworking person attempting to patronize her business. I will be contacting the department of health letting them know about her comment regarding my food. If you patronize this business, I hope that your experience is nothing like mine. I love the Tacos here. It is refreshingly good. The location is prime and very hard to miss if you're in the Edgewater/Rogers Park area. I even loved this place more post Covid. I could order, sit in my car and wait to pick up before I head home to enjoy with my spouse. I enjoy ordering and recommend the fish, pulled pork and pasture tacos. Look forward to exploring the entire menu someday. Sadly I don't have pictures because I always order to go. But a great spot. read more

I really like this neighborhood spot. I've tried a few things but standouts are the Al Pastor and fish tacos. They also have really good beans and rice. Taco salad is massive as well as the burrito. You could probably share those things plus a small item with another person and be ok. Only downside is that they haven't opened up dine in and takeout containers are styrofoam so unfortunately it does deter me to come often. read more

Moving in from Texas, it was a bit hard to find good Mexican food in Chicago, especially in the Northern neighborhoods. Luckily, someone redirected me to Edgewater Tacos which is a few streets down from where I live. This place has been an absolute lifesaver for me! First off, you notice their outside patio before you even walk in. Great for summertime Chicago weather. The inside is a bit small and packed, but it adds to the homey, family restaurant feel of the place. The prices aren't bad at all and the selection is amazing. Lots of stuff to choose that will hit any Mexican food craving. When I was here, I ordered the burrito suizo with a large horchata. And OH MY GOD, you can tell everything was great. I've never ever had horchata this fresh since leaving Texas. Definitely a place I'm going to frequent more often. read more

The Lord has BLESSED the hands that have prepared this food, y'all. Based on the Yelp reviews alone, I took a chance and placed a catering order for a party of nine. Patty and her team did a great job with with preparing the food and it was a HIT. Since then (three weeks ago), we've gone an additional two times and everything we've had is delicious. The fish tacos and al pastor tacos are fantastic; I don't know HOW they get their steak so flavorful and their chicken so juicy but it's out of this world. Carnitas Chimichanga - I used to only get my Chimi at el CID in Logan Square. EL CID has nothing on this place. Crispy outside and juice meat, cheese, and rice proportionately placed inside. From the Horchata and the Mexican hot chocolate to the Hibiscus water (which I always get with my order)... this place does not disappoint. The great thing about this place outside of the food is the customer service. The ladies who work here are the friendliest people I have ever met. This place wins! Freshness, service and salsas! The keys to a good Mexican restaurant/taqueria are some of those core elements. We went here a few weeks ago we were warmly greeted by ownership who not only took our order but offered suggestions as well to see what our tastes were. That is a sign of a place that cares about their customers and obviously want longevity in their business. I went with 3 tacos - Al Pastor, Carne Asada and their Fish taco (sorry I forgot the specific names). By far the Fish taco was my fav as it was fresh, lightly breaded. I ordered tacos on May 11th at 11am. firstly, they didn't serve me pineapple, although I ordered al pastor with pineapple. I waited 15-20 minutes for my small taco. The girl at the window said that I could wait at a table outside and she would take me out. While I was waiting, more people came. Even they received the order, but I didn't. When I went to investigate, the girl at the window frantically gave the order because she forgot!!! I do not recommend this place. Honestly, I am so disappointed in myself. I've driven by this place hundreds of times and seen the glowing reviews, but only just stopped for the first time today. Boy, have I been depriving myself of some amazing food!!! As soon as we walked up, we knew it was going to be good. You know that feeling you just get sometimes?! We tried tacos (al pastor, chicken, steak), a tostada, a chicken tamale, and the horchata. All of it was outstanding! There is a nice outdoor window for ordering and several patio tables to eat outside. It's a great setup for social distancing and safe dining. Hate to do it but not a good experience. I phoned in an order which they said would be ready in 10 min. I arrived 15 min later and the order wasn't ready. I asked if I could go ahead and lay while I waited to save time since I was in a hurry they said they didn't have the ticket it was still in the kitchen. So I waited. Others orders after I arrive continue to be filled while mine was not. I eventually went back to the window and she had forgotten she had spoken with me before but I said I'm still waiting on my phone in order and have been waiting 25 min when I called ahead. She said she made up for it by giving me and extra drink which when I got to my car I realized she did not. And when I got home half the order was missing. No fish tacos so one persons order was completely missing. I called them to let them know of the issue and ask for it to be reimbursed to my credit card and I had a receipt to verify any information they needed for the order. They said they don't do that and could post a note on their wall if I wanted to come back for a credit. I live an hour away and made them aware of that so not a good solution. Anyway the food we did receive was all vegetarian and wasn't good. The veggie tacos and burritos are only rice and refried beans. No veggies or anything of interest like tofu or imitation meat or chicken or you know veggies (the sour cream and cheese which was supposed to come in it did not even though I said dairy was fine). I asked for napkins with the order didn't get any. It was really a poor effort all around which wasn't worth the cost. First off the tacos are seriously delicious. Packed and full of flavor. Surprisingly my favorite was the pollo, it had a citrusy flavor and was very juicy.
