I had the opportunity to visit here and wish I had made time to spend several days in the library, it's an amazing resource of fascinating and abundant materials. They have a very nice metaphysical library upstairs that anyone can use, but only members can check books out. The gift shop is nice and a very spiritual atmosphere. I have long been fascinated by the life and achievements of Edgar Cayce and was fortunate to have a number of interesting conversations and email exchanges with his son Edgar Evans Cayce before his passing 2013. His father, Edgar Cayce made his home in Virginia Beach, VA from 1924 until his death in 1945. On June 6, 1931, 61 people attended a meeting to carry on Cayce's work and form the Edgar Cayce Association for Research and Enlightenment (A.R.E.) Today A.R.E. is a non-profit organization that has been transforming lives for nearly a century. It's aim is to help individuals achieve profound personal change in body, mind, and spirit through the wisdom found in Cayce's psychic readings. I stopped by the visitor center after going to the spa. Its located on the bottom of the hill in front of the spa. When i walked in i wasn't greeted or acknowledged in any way. At first it felt a little weird but they were very nice when i went to the counter. The gift shop has crystals, aroma therapy, books, tarot cards, and more!!! This is one of my favorite places to buy tarot or oracle cards because they have a demo box for each box of cards. So you can open them and see if you vibe/connect with the cards and artwork. Its also a bigger selection than most places.. There's also a table if you want to sit down to read or look through the cards. The jewelry is also beautiful if your into crystals. They have wire wrapped pieces, copper pieces, and more. I could easily buy a lot in here. Lol. There is also a lot of good books in there. I can't go and not be in there for at least an hour. After you leave there's a meditation garden outside that's very relaxing and they also have a meditation room upstairs. The meditation room is has a great view of the beach across the street. You can feel the positive energy as soon as you walk in. Keep an eye out for flyers. They have psychic and spiritual expos throughout the year. The Cayce Association for Research and Enlightenment [ARE] is an interesting place. When I lived oceanfront on Baltic, my next-door neighbor was employed as an editor at ARE. As a freelance graphic designer, I typeset one of the Cayce books which meant I made regular visits to Joe, at ARE, in the 90s. The labyrinth out front is pretty! The Japanese [my words] garden with the water feature and bamboo is a nice oasis. The ARE employees could use the upstairs meditation room daily around noon. I think this was 'on the clock' but I could be mistaken. It is a pretty meditation room. When Mom visited me, we attended several free lectures at ARE. I recall the speakers being descendants of Cayce, which was interesting. The topics were various aspects of and theories about the lost Atlantis. A local graphic designer friend used ARE for her colonic treatments; however, I never used the spa. The library is nice! The Cayce introductory video is interesting and not too lengthy or in-depth. The gift shop is eclectic. Since I am from north Alabama, it's interesting to me that Cayce lived in Selma, Alabama from 1912 to 1923, working downtown as a photographer and giving readings on request. Do visit the Cayce ARE, the grounds offer a small, peaceful respite from the fast-paced Virginia Beach area, and I do hope they still continue to offer as many free events as they did in the 90s. read more

The restaurant was closed when we were there but Graze seemed to have a lot of reviews. Library A we spent all day browsing! So many books and I purchased a book of Children's Past Lives, which was written in 1992 and it was in Great condition. Also, we got lucky and met with Samantha who practiced Vaydic Palm reading. Love this place. If you plan on coming here, you should block out a few hours so you can enjoy everything. We like doing the labyrinth, the aura readings in the gift shop, browsing the library, eating at graze, and getting a treatment at the spa. I've only ever gotten a massage at the spa before, but today I tried the alphasphere. SO COOL. I had never heard of this thing before but I thought okay I'll try it out. Since it was my first time, they recommended I only do 30 minutes instead of an hour. I could definitely do an hour next time and I'll bring a blanket or wear long sleeves as it was slightly chilly. You start by picking out what colors you want the lights to be. They lady explained what each one was and I settled on pink. It was so relaxing. I liked that the chair vibrated with the music too. I've always wanted to come here since finding out about Edgar Cayce and his work years ago but never dreamed of actually making it down here since I live all the way in Toronto. When I got here the staff was so sweet, nice, caring and friendly! I bought a few books and other things from the gift shop and felt the ambiance to be relaxed as I made my way browsing through all the aisles. Afterwards I went upstairs to check out the meditation room, the library, see the artwork on the walls, and went outside onto the meditation garden. At some point while outside enjoying the serenity of the atmosphere, there seemed to be smoke coming from the side of the building but luckily a few people were able to put it out (whatever that was) and the day carried on. I was flipping through a free travel mag about Hampton Roads and the surrounding area, and saw an ad to visit the Association for Research and Enlightenment....I thought to myself, "I want to be enlightened." So I called and asked about things listed on the flyer--free meditation, daily speakers and a tour. I went to the place not knowing anything about Edgar Cayce. Hey, I'm impulsive! Alone, by itself, it's not a destination spot. But if you're close by, definitely check it out. They have a beautiful labyrinth to walk and fish pond gardens. I was late and missed the video about who Edgar Cayce was, but I got the gist of his works on the free walking tour. The June 3rd tour guide was really friendly, positive, upbeat, and informative. The 3:30pm presenter was a no show so that was disappointing. I'd like to go back and spend time in the library. They have an amazing collection of yoga philosophy books. The library also has free Wi-fi. You're free to spend time in the library--you can just show up whenever they are open. The bookstore was cool. It was fairly priced. They have tons of books and gift items. If you fill out a card at the front desk, you get a bag with a coupon for 10% off on one item from the bookstore. I also got a free gift in the bag--a free Edgar Cayce book. Cool! Everyone was really nice. I didn't know what to expect. It was not creepy or weird. It was a lovely time. I'm glad I went! I went here a few months ago with a friend and we both had a great experience. We both loved the gift shop and found so many goodies. I purchased a few stones , tarot cards , Talisman and more. But it was totally worth the money. I went in the garden and had my first experience with fairies. It was so tranquil and peaceful. We purchased books from the library they had a good sale. Both of us got a reading my was so spot on. We met some people in the waiting area they were super nice and waiting on a reading also. The energy by the library was super strong. I came to virginia beach just to visit the ARE and to experience the health spa. I have been in the health care industry for over 20 years and have owned my own wellness centers. I signed up for the caster oil pack with foot acupressure combo and a regression session. My drive from my hotel was estimated at 45 minutes, so I left 1 hour and 30 minutes early to make sure I had enough time (and they ask to come 15 Minutes early to fill out paperwork.) I arrived at 9:30am for my 10 am appointment. I filled out my paperwork and was ready to go. It was then 10:10 (10 minutes past my appointment time) and still no therapist). I state to the front desk that this is very unprofessional with the therapist being this late. She finally arrives at 10:13. She takes me down to the treatment room and proceeds to tell me she was late due to her having a long commute of 45 minutes to get there. As I mentioned earlier I left early and had the same commute. She was frazzled and didn't even have the room completely ready. She stated ooopps, I forgot to put on the music. She then apologized for being late and said she couLd give me 15 mins at the end of my session to make it up. I told her they scheduled my regression session at 11am right after this so there was no extra time. So she proceeded to tell me that she would give me extra foot accupressure time instead. Let me break down the time line for you : she picks me up at 10:13am , we get to her room at 10:15 am, we start the session at 10:17am and she ends the accupressure at 10:50 am and ends the session at 10:55am. So I got 3 extra minutes of accupressure. This was on top of her rushed energy as she was running late; all this energy coming into my session. Not a good first impression. The regression session next at 11 am was completely different experience. Betty Davis was a phenomenal therapist. She knew how to hold space and be compassionate. If you have a chance get a session with her. She was on time, professional, and knew how to hold an energetic space for her clients. On check out, the front desk knew I was upset from the first therapist being late. Again, owning my own wellness centers for years, this is just poor business. When a therapist is running late it transfers into the session energetically. Also to mention, I was the first appointment for the day. Therefore, the front desk offered me $5 off my session. I appreciate the gesture. However, I paid for a 60 minute sessions which was $120, and I got a 45 minutes session. Therefore, I should of paid $90 not $115. This again is poor business quality on ARE spa. I have since shared my experience with my health care colleagues. Unfortunately, many of them have said that they have heard this from their clients as well. I will definitely not be recommending this spa to any of my future clients. This was not a good first impression from the spa. I was hoping that being Edgar Cayce place they would uphold the values and integrity that he exuded. They would teach and honor holding space for clients. Along with professional ethics when you have a 45 minute session to compensate the client appropriately. The grounds are nice. But beware of the spa. You can get better services at a local shop. read more

I enjoyed my view to the metaphysical library. It is the second largest meta library in the world. The Cayce readings were helpful. I enjoyed exploring the bookshelf and learning about the Atlanteans and the Leumerians. Interesting to consider other beliefs about the origin of humanity. The librarians are so helpful and knowledgable. I come here to reconnect with nature and relax. The Koi pond is rejuvenating and listening to the waterfall is great for my meditation practice. This is a very interesting place, and a nice change of pace when your other days are filled with going to the beach and eating out with the masses. We visited while on vacation, so it was a refreshing break in the action. There are several buildings on the property. One building houses classrooms and educational areas, as well as a health spa. The other building includes a free guided tour, a free video about who Mr. Cayce was, a library, and a great little gift store with lots of neat stuff. Everyone was really nice but not in a hippy-dippy way. They were just pleasant people, and I didn't feel like they were trying to induct me into any weird cults or anything. It's simply about spirituality and holistic healing methods, and I found it kind of fascinating. There is a lovely labyrinth you can walk for meditation or just to calm your mind and view the ocean. There is also a Japanese garden with small water falls and benches for musing. A peaceful experience, and I hope to come back again next time I'm in the area. I have been a regular to Edgar Cayce's A.R.E. for 25 years and have received many of the SPA applications with excellent outcomes, HOWEVER, on December 23, 2020, I received a call stating that a therapist I was exposed to had been diagnosed with Covid-19. Having just arrived at an "older"(90+) relatives' house for the holidays, with that relative being in the car for the phone call, we were BOTH SHOCKED, DISAPPOINTED and SCARED for the safety of my 90+ relative and myself!!! Both my relative and I have "overly followed" the proper guidelines for staying SAFE since the onset of Covid-19 in January 2020. We wore our masks for 2 days while I took my temperature 4 times a day for my entire 6 day visit. I still have 2 days left in my official quarantine to be verified SAFE. With that being said, I have a few questions for the SPA staff and whoever is "IN CHARGE" at this facility. 1) Are ALL of your therapists wear N-19 Masks? They should be required to do this!! 2) Are ALL of your therapists requiring that ALL their clients wear masks throughout the "procedure" they are receiving? If a client refuses, they should be refused a therapy!!! 3) Are ALL of your therapists required to wear "gloves" while coming into contact with clients? They should be required to do so!!!!! Your organization "should be" professional enough to mandate these "increased" safety rules for all persons working at your facility. I do know that I have seen "lesser safe" masks worn when visiting the SPA for therapy. NOTE FOR ANYONE GOING TO THE A.R.E., MAKE SURE "YOU" WEAR YOUR MASK AND REFUSE ANY CONTACT WITH ANY THERAPIST WHO DOES NOT HAVE AN 'N-19 MASK so you do not have a scare like I am still living, for 2 more days. Past Life Regression Therapy and spiritual counseling there was horrible for many reasons. One, the therapist picked up on one of my past lives, but I didn't need healing for that life. I went for healing in another life that I've been having nightmares from my whole life. However, the therapist directed me to the past life she was curious about and not the one I came in for. Second, she had an agenda and it wasn't to help me. Third, she kept telling me what to see in the past life she wanted to know about instead of asking me what I see. This was very aggravating. Fourth, she kept directing me to the most tramautizing times and would ask how I feel. You're not supposed to do that. That is retraumatizing the client. The therapist is supposed to tell you to watch as an observer or you will only make your trauma worse. Fifth, in the spiritual counseling part, she kept falsely accusing me of things which triggered my gut feeling to toss everything she said. I can't believe I paid good money to be traumatized, to be falsely accused, to be directed under hypnosis to a life I said I didn't need healing from where she kept telling me what to see, being told we didn't have time then to address the past life I actually came in for, and then for her to do it but went to the moment of my execution in the past life. I warn anyone from doing past life regression at the Edgar Cayce Center. The therapist had lots of doctorates and certifications but she really didn't know what she was doing, and I saw the book she was reading to hypnotize me. How can someone have certifications and need to read a book? I can self hypnotize myself into a past life regression without reading a book, and I don't have any certificates. read more

At the North End heading up from the Oceanfront, is the Edgar Cayce Center, an ominous building randomly sitting among the beach houses. Whether you are familiar with the life and work of Edgar Cayce or not, this is one place you cannot miss. Although I am personally unsure how much I buy into the idea of psychic readings and its related jargon, I do know when I am having a blast. Every weekend they host free ESP testing, meditation classes and other weekly events. The people are eclectic and fun. They even have a yoga balcony overlooking the sea. There is a gift shop, of course, but there is always actually unique and interesting pieces of jewelry. I was a regular here for so long that I'd get hugs when I walk in. I enjoyed the student massages most of all but they're not in full service during the pandemic. They reopened July 9th but not quite everything is open or offered. They offer a full range of massage therapy and reflexology as well as things like cranial sacral or colonics. I always wanted to try the more. I also saw a chiropractor there once. They offer body work, holistic clinical works, hydrotherapies, spa packages and hypnotherapy screenings. They use to offer free classes at 3:30 daily but no longer. Peter would lead the meditation for the staff. They have a library and book store as well. They had weekend events that were a bit pricey however, I'm not certain when they'll be offered with the pandemic limitations. I'd recommend this place highly. It's bought me peaceful times over the years and taught me a thing or two as well. I know quite a few massage therapy students who have gradated from their massage school and went on to be the best ones in the area! Can hardly wait to return for reflexology. This place is where I began receiving it decades ago. I learned a lot over the years. Edgar Cayce was considered way ahead of his time. I had very high expectations for this place. I had a doctor in California that did everything from massage to chiropractic work and acupressure plus some. I'm trying to find someone that can replace the work he did, but I cannot so far. I came across this place after searching for practitioners that do Jen Shin Do in the Virginia Beach area. This place came up. Pretty much everything is a la carte. I decided to start with the acupressure before getting an adjustment or anything else because of how tight my muscles are and the pain I'm in. The hour session didn't give any relief. The acupressure points that I benefit from the most were not even touched. The ones that were, were so lightly touch I couldn't tell half the time that she was doing anything. Complete waste of money. I expect to feel better after a holistic service such as this, not exactly the same. To me, it's obvious their training lacks severely. I'm disappointed as well as feel scammed. I did tip because I work in the service industry and you work for tips...so her tip was less than 10% because I didn't feel right to leave nothing. In retrospect I wish I did not. I will not return...nor recommend. Reading the yelp reviews I think the people that actually enjoy these services either don't have much to compare it to, or they are into it because of the ideology of Edgar Cayce. read more

Everything was as easy and stream-lined as could be, from scheduling, to locating the facility, to the actual procedure (which was performed by a talkative professional named Maurine, who informed me on every step of my treatment). This was the highlight of our trip to Virginia Beach. Learning about Edgar Cayce and his work was a wonderful experience. The staff is passionate about Mr. Cayce and are thoroughly knowledgeable of the Cayce readings and are happy to help. We watched a short film detailing his life and work and took a tour of the building. The energy on the grounds is vibrant, as if good karma will come to you just for stopping by. I also scheduled a hypnosis therapy for past life regression. I have always been curious about the practice and was excited to see that it's a service offered at the spa. What an interesting hour and a half! Definitely worth the $120-just to have the feeling of better understanding life as it pertains to me. I visited the Spa with my mom and we had a great time. We both had hypnotherapy sessions with Renee, she was awesome. My mother had a spa treatment and was very impressed with Mewa. The front desk was very friendly and attentive. We also went over to the other building to check out the expansive library, gift shop, and meditation room.
