Once I passed the background check, I was given a parking pass valid for the next few days. I parked in the parking garage as instructed by my nieces husband. I got turned around the first time, and it took a little extra time to find the maternity ward. But the next time it was easier and I never got lost again lol. On one of my visits, I walked through the oldest structure on campus which was the original hospital built in 1827. This is the oldest military hospital in the US. It still had the original stone exterior (outsise of original hospital) which had been closed in with hallways surrounding it. I checked out some cool paintings throughout the hospital. I learned a lot of history by reading the captions of the paintings. This biulding was turned into an administrative building. The campus was huge! And very pretty as it sits on the bank of the Chesapeake Bay. There was lots of green space which was beautiful.

You need to be a dependent or other military ID card holder to be seen and it is on the base; past the front gate. If you need help deciding if you need to be seen there is a nurse advice line when you call the main number that can help you decide if you're in need of care. Parking is sometimes an issue but you can park in the attached garage and get to the ER via the interior of the main hospital easily for walk-in care. Patient parking lot near the ER entrance is also an option. This is a place to receive care for any military member or their family member who is experiencing a mental health crisis and needs to be kept safe.

There is a parking garage adjoining the building which provides adequate space, I've always been able to find a spot pretty easily. Access in and out of the garage to and from Riverview Avenue is easy. There is free Wi-Fi throughout the building so you can always get a decent signal on your smartphone. I have been very pleased with this business since I've been seeing Dr. Richard Sokol for the past several years. I get great care and the office is very responsive when I call or send messages through the MyChart website or app. Wait times are reasonable, this is important to me. Dr. Sokol is very approachable and always takes the time to answer questions and explain things in a way that is easy to understand. I am always impressed by his knowledge and experience and the way he keeps up with new developments in his field. The waiting room is large and comfortable. The staff is friendly and efficient. I appreciate that most of my medical needs can be handled right in the building. Need some lab work done? There is full lab on the same floor. Need an x-ray? They've got you covered. As I said earlier, I am very happy with the service and quality of care I receive at Sentara Family Medicine Physicians.

The goal is to help the patient live their life the best that they can. I have been here to help a friend with chronic pain and their doctors have been extremely sensitive to his issues and have been extremely empathetic and nonjudgmental. They do have a LOT of patients so trying to book an appointment quickly can be a challenge. Generally they do 6 month followups and don't do anything sooner. When it comes to highly regulated drugs, they will not change your prescription between office visits. You are also required to do a consult with a psychologist and are subjected to random drug tests. Their downfall, though, is that they are so busy and they may not be able to respond to requests, questions and concerns as quickly (if at all) as you would like. However, once you're in the clinic and talking to the doctor, they are extremely nice and friendly.
