There are countless horror stories of bad relations between contractors and clients that ruin construction projects. With fresh scars from a previous project we embarked on looking for a contractor to extensively remodel our home with trepidation and anxiety. We needn't have worried because Ciaran came into our life like a brilliant ray of sunshine piercing the gray San Francisco fog. We are delighted with the extensive home remodel project Ciaran did for us. His costs are fair, and he is very easy to communicate with and responded almost immediately by phone and text whenever we needed him. Ciaran is very easy to get along with, and consistently demonstrated his mission to ensure we were happy with his work. He's also quite the comedian who can defuse potentially frustrating situations with his friendly humor and banter. There were a few inevitable surprises in the project which Ciaran handled with aplomb and resolved to our satisfaction, even when the issue was not "his problem", e.g. he diagnosed and fixed the leak in a new bathtub. We highly recommend talking with Ciaran if you're considering a construction project. read more

3 months after buying our first home--an apartment in SF--my fiance and I discovered a mold problem in three different areas in the floors underneath our 100-year-old steam radiators. Ugh. We needed new hardwood flooring (and a little bit of subfloor repair) to replace what our mold remediator had ripped out. I got quotes from Ciaran and two other contractors. Ciaran got me a quote a few hours after coming to the apartment, and his quote was considerably less expensive than those of the other contractors. (Before all the quotes had come through, I had assumed Ciaran's would be the most expensive because the remodels on the Edenavow website look so high caliber!) Ciaran was able to match the new hardwood flooring to our existing (maybe 100 year old??) hardwood flooring so well. We also ended up using Edenavow to add some shelving to our hall closet and install a new door to our guest room, too. Ciaran is so nice and communicative, and we're so pleased with the results. If we ever remodel our kitchen or bathroom, we'll definitely use Edenavow! read more

Ciaran and his crew are awesome, period. I reached out to a lot of contractors to find the right one and when Ciaran got back to me the same day with a cheerful attitude, I knew I was onto something. He completed a number of projects in our house on time, on budget, with quality and quickly! One of the projects was a deck/balcony remodel and his crew cut and planed ipe boards for the railings, and you can see and feel the quality. I'm not going to even bother looking elsewhere, I know who to call when I need something done. read more

I have worked with a number of contractors both professionally and personally, and Ciaran and his team are the best. Very conscientious, professional, patient and kind. And amazing at what they do. Ciaran is very hands on and always available to answer any questions. He makes creative adjustments to the plans throughout the build process to improve on and make best use of space. The job was finished on time and on budget, looks amazing and functions perfectly. This was a complete basement conversion, including radiant underfloor throughout, a lot of foundation work, adding drainage etc., and all the subs who worked on it were amazing and I would recommend every one of them. I would have no hesitation in recommending Edenavow. read more

Ciaran and crew did a fantastic job in our gut remodel. We bought our home in 2016 and it was a complete mess. Prior to Ciaran starting; The roof hadn't been redone in 30+ years, there was water coming down the interior walls, the electrical was not to code, no heat or hot water, the plumbing was in need of an overhaul, and the place had a number of other major issues. Ciaran gave us a very competitive bid to do the complete remodel. Once he and his crew started, they got to work quickly, were efficient, and did a very high quality job. We can't say enough great things about he and his crew; they became a part of our family. To anyone who needs a contractor in SF, we can't recommend them enough! And to the other non-five star reviews, I honestly don't see how people could have any issues with Ciaran and his crew, they were the best. Don't listen to them and look at the before picture and after photos. read more

There are three main things you need from a contractor in any project, but especially when recovering from a mini-disaster at your home/business * Transparency and clear communications - Timelines are crucial as delays = money * Professionalism - They should know what they are doing, or it can cause more damage * Fair price Usually, I hope to get at least two, and it's always stressful anticipating which one the contactor might be missing. Well, in working with the Edenavow crew and Cairan (the owner) - You get all three. I can't recommend Cairan enough! Fixed our in-law unit bathroom, living room, and bedroom in one week, working throughout the weekend as well. Fantastic, professional, everything was clearly communicated and a fair price (we've compared to 4 other contractors in our area) More projects are coming from me soon! :) read more

When friends, family and neighbors ask about our remodel, they anxiously wait for the remodel horror story..and give me that look of ok....let me hear about the drama. Because, I'm sure you've heard very scary and dramatic remodel stories... my response has and will always be..I love my contractor. Ciaran Dowler, owner of Edenavow. He's like the guy you grew up with that everyone liked and wanted to be around. Thank goodness he's handy, funny, ethical, man of his word and charming. We live in an old a$$ Spanish Mediterranean SF home, built in 1927. We interviewed 3 contractors and Ciaran was the last one... he came into our home was like freaking santa clause so damn excited about the remodel and had such great ideas (even though we had an architect/design team)! If I gave him just a hint of a thought, he turned it into a reality. "what do you think of this space, Ciaran.. "you know what? I'd knock this wall down create and arch and it would be gorgeous" ...and hot damn was it! Ciaran and his team built the most beautiful arches in my home, I'm waiting for arch digest to call me! Now onto the details...We gutted our kitchen (well the crew did not me..but I really wanted to and I think Ciaran would have let me), knocked down walls, moved bathrooms, made a master bath, updated electrical (that dang knob and tube) rerouted plumbing and HVAC and insulated and sheet rocked our garage. Want to hear the best part? We lived in the home while this was happening.. ok that's not really the ideal but we aren't swimming in cash. I was so nervous of the dust and the whatever's as we lived downstairs with 3 kids. Ciaran and his guys always left the home swept up w/ that shop vac and had this magic plastic door placed so whatever debris and dust from upstairs didn't end up down. The crew was something else, Sandor, Juan, Joel, Phillip all professional, fun and great craftsmen. The sub-contractors, the same! Goes without saying that the subs are also very very important part of your remodel so thankfully Ciaran has some great friends in the industry. Here are some photos so you don't think I'm one of Ciaran's family members...also I didn't get paid for this review I've just been waiting so long to write it! Thank you Ciaran and team... my family and I love our home! read more

Love my family and friends reaction to my two remodeled bathrooms in my SF condo. I hear "wow"! I am so pleased with how beautiful they turned out. There are several reasons I chose to go with Edenavow. Here are a few: 1- Ciaran's creativity - Sometimes I don't think Ciaran realizes that he has this special skill. He takes his time looking over the space and comes up with great ideas. To mention one he suggested pocket doors vs traditional. This really opened up my bathrooms. 2- Responsiveness/punctuality - was off the charts. From start to finish I could rely on Ciaran to promptly respond via text or a phone call for general questions, scheduling, etc...This helped me better understand the renovation process. Helped to keep my personal and business plans organized and moving along on schedule as normal as possible during the renovation. As well Ciaran cares about being punctual. When he said he or his team would be at my place I could rely on them. 3- Non disruptive/team- I work out of my home and I was able to continue while they worked on the bathrooms. Ciaran has a core team. Genuinely nice, hard-working, respectful, good natured, quiet as can be during a renovation : ), and we had many laughs along the way which made it more enjoyable to go through such a project. 4- Character- we ran into a hiccup after the fact. I reached out to Ciaran and he was equally responsive to address as he was during the project. A true testament to Ciaran's solid character. I am thoroughly enjoying my bathrooms and wanted to pass along my wonderful experience with Edenavow. Thanks, Ciaran! read more

From start to finish, we could not have been more pleased with the job completed by Edenavow. Our fire wall, deck and stair project was done on time, on budget and without any issues. It was rather small in footprint however a complex project that required a lot of skill and coordination. Ciaran and his crew did an amazing job with the construction as well as being excellent communicators keeping us up to date on when work would start, how the work was progressing and what to expect next. They were also great with our neighbors, whom we share the new fire wall with, letting them know when work was going to happen and ensuring that they were happy with end result. If you're considering Edenavow for your next job, I would not hesitate in hiring them. read more

Sometimes it's the little things that matter, and knowing you can count on someone is what matters, I had to remove my metal gate to be able to get our new refrigerator up the stairs (the joys of living in San Francisco) and my world shut down, how do I get that heavy gate out? When our old roof sprung a leak, we knew exactly where to go for help - and Ciaran and his crew at Edenavow Construction did not disappoint. They'd done a big project for us in the past and the quality this second time around was at least at the same level - maybe even better if that's even possible. Not only did they take care of the roofing, flashing, and all associated issues outside, they did the inside repairs to the ceiling from the roof leak - and the ceiling was covered with a paper that was no longer for sale - Sandor, one of Ciaran's lead crew, did the most phenomenal salvage job to clear out molded ceiling and restore the look of the original ceiling - total artisan. When we encountered an unexpected water issue during the project, Ciaran's team was all hands on deck and took full responsibility to put things to right. While they were on site, Without us asking, and at no cost, Ciaran even made a minor improvement to the initial project they did while he was onsite - he holds himself to a very high quality standard. I cannot say enough good things about the integrity, craftsmanship, quality, and communications from Ciaran and his organization. They are the tops! read more

Ciarin recently re-modeled our bathroom and we are thrilled with the results! Better yet, the project, from start to finish, entailed minimal disruption to our day-to-day activities, which was much appreciated as we were having to work from home due to Covid restrictions while the project was ongoing. Emergency rain damage to a balcony caused a leak into a renters apartment. Our stress level was through the roof. We reached out and Ciaran who saved the day by letting us borrow his dehumidifier and even sparing his crew to help us remove some damaged drywall. His crew was knowledgeable, professional and worked clean. True professionals. It's remarkable that Ciaran would simply deliver and lend his dehumidifier to an unknown person in a time of need. Ciaran is a knowledgeable craftsman and a calming presence. He kept saying, "don't worry, I'll take care of you and he delivered". I have a full remodel and some balconies for repair and very much hope Ciaran can take the job. read more

Having had a bad experience with our previous renovation, I would have laughed my head off if anyone ever mentioned "a stress-free renovation". But this was before I had Ciaran and his team from Edenavow Construction work on our kitchen and bathroom remodeling. We are so happy with them. Ciaran and his team are professional, friendly, respectful and reliable. They really made sure that all the work was top quality and completed within a reasonable time. I truly don't think that I've had a single unpleasant incident with them. That is not to say that there were no mishaps - there were a couple of minor things - but Ciaran and his team addressed them immediately. The crew always kept the site very clean and were very accommodating when we could not have any noise in the house (this was during pandemic with zoom meetings) When these guys said they were coming over, they would arrive on the dot (I still can't get over this!). We were so impressed with them that we ended up expanding our original remodeling plan to refinish our living room, dining room and one of the bedrooms. Ciaran is very good with wood work and he made a beautiful custom made closet for our odd shaped bathroom for a reasonable price. Their services may not be the cheapest, but I really feel that expense was well worth the quality of work we received. Reading over this, I realize that this review looks suspiciously like something I wrote in exchange for a discount, but Ciaran didn't even ask me for a review. I just honestly feel that I owe Ciaran and his team a great review for doing such a great job. read more

I loved working with Ciaran. We had a problem with our foundation - water coming in when our neighbour watered her plants. We spoke to around 20 contractors and Ciaran came out top. It was a large, structural job. We had our foundation capped, a french drain installed, and the siding repaired. Ciaran is fun to work with but also has very high standards, and I was very happy with the work. I would definitely recommend him and his team. read more

Ciaran and his amazing crew have worked on two of our bathrooms. My experience was that the expertise and ways of completing the work were effiecient, the best ways, and beautiful in the design finish of each project. Completeness was realized in the final products and I was delighted to have the entire crew in our home. The crew was a true team, and I appreciated that very much. Each individual -- from the demo team to the carpenters, plumbers and electricians offered professional timeliness and respect to our home and to us. As a homeowner for the past 18 years, I have worked with many contractors on other projects. We have finally found "our team" who we can call to help us with future projects. Having a team of professionals in our home can become stressful, but with Edanovow, the entire process did not feel stressful at all. We found it to be a pleasant experience in upgrading our home with the least amount of invasiveness as we have ever experienced in a remodel. Their bids are competetive and the crew is honest. We had a few surprises of leaks and mold when we began our first bathroom. They were able to help us resolve this in an affordable and complete way. I appreciate thier dilgence and respect of process in this kind of work. Edanovow not only offers a solid work ethic but also a graceful experience with some style and simplicity. I appreciate that very much. read more

Our house was a real fixer upper. After spending about a year and a half on the inside we decided to start on the outside. We knew we needed the fences repaired, but were toying with adding a deck and getting the house painted sometime later this year. Well, once we met Ciaran we decided to do all three at once and he took care of it all and more. We couldn't ask for better than Ciaran and his team. Ciaran met with us each morning to go over what was to be done for the day. He was always right on time and answered all of our questions. He updated us throughout the day and at the end of the day checked in with us to see how we liked what had been done so far. He was also very patient with us as we made changes along the way. He adapted quickly and met our needs. We added a lot of little things, from plumbing to electrical and Ciaran took care of it all. Ciaran's team was amazing. Having all this work done you would think they'd be noisy, but I could hardly hear them. They cleaned up each day and were very nice and professional. They finished the job right when they said they would, even working on weekends! The end price was right with the quote and his prices for a few additional items were extremely fair. All that said, the most important thing is the finished product and it's just simply amazing. The fence is beautiful and the deck is amazing. I can't even believe it's our backyard. Ciaran's team's attention to detailed is astounding. Everything looks perfect. I love going into our backyard to stand on our deck and admire our fences. As you can tell I highly recommend Edenavow Construction for any job you might have. We definitely will be working with Ciaran in the future and totally look forward to it. read more

Ciaran renovated our home in San Francisco and did a beautiful job. When we had heavy rains a few weeks ago, we found that there was an issue with our roof (the original roof) that had caused leakage and water damage to our kitchen ceiling. We had a great experience with Ciaran. He was present, ran the job on time, did some good quality work and was very responsive throughout the process. They also kept the job site well organized and cleaned after every workday there. Which was not a small achievement. It was really a pleasure to work with him and see his team in action. And everyone in his team was equally friendly and a real pleasure to work with. So much that they changed my vision on contractors: I now believe it is possible to find a contractor that cares. Summary: Ciaran and his Edenavow Construction are the real deal and based on my experience if you contract with him for a home renovation job can feel confident that it will get done to a high standard on a prompt schedule for reasonable cost. My family moved into a 3 story home in Presidio Heights last Fall. In order to accommodate all of us we needed to move some walls around and transform a laundry room into a bedroom by taking over some space from the adjacent garage and flipping the W/D set up to the other side of the wall, so it was in the garage and out of the new bedroom. Anyway, a relatively small job, but large enough to cause a huge headache for a busy family 4 kids if not done right and timely. Ciaran was referred by a friend who is a highly respected residential developer. He worked with my schedule to come in, review and contribute to plans and give a decent quote - not bargain basement but very fair. He himself found ways to cut some costs. Once we settled on a price and a very fast schedule for getting things done, he and his team got to work. He worked well with the architect and was accommodating of ancillary requests. We both kept our sides of the bargain - I made it a priority to keep paying Ciaran on time and he finished work on schedule. The end product is very good. I am a very satisfied customer, and I'd even add that he restored my faith a bit that there are good, honest contractors out there who take pride in their work. Should any prospective customer of Ciaran's wish more information, I'm happy to go the extra mile for Ciaran. He has for me. read more

Ciaran and his team are outstanding! Ciaran is responsive, thorough, detail-oriented, efficient, patient, and fun to work with. All of the work was high quality, including a new roof, complete bedroom, bath and closet remodel, interior staircase build, installation of new windows, floor, light fixtures and a gas fireplace, and painting throughout. My wife and I had been looking for someone to remodel our kitchen for a couple years and had no luck. We saw a handful of local companies like California Kitchens but everyone wanted to just rip everything out and re-do everything and charge us $15,000 to $20,000. Mind you we have a Victorian in the Mission district so our thoughts were always to keep a some of elements of the house. While at a dinner party at our neighbors house we noticed the owners wonderfully re-modeled kitchen and asked about the work. The owner, Malia was quick to mention Ciaran Dowlers work from- Edenavow Construction. The next day I called Ciaran and he came by the same day and gave me a reasonable estimate. A couple of weeks later Ciaran and his guys got started and finished the whole job in two weeks. He came in about $2,000 under budget and without any issues. He was always professional, up front and most importantly communicated with us at every step of the process. I will surely use Edenavow again. Thanks Ciaran! read more

With any major building contract when you sign up and start you wonder how you will feel about your contractor at the end. I thought Ciaran was a very nice man when I met him at the start, while at the end my opinion was completely reinforced and strengthened. Of the many good qualities Ciaran and his team demonstrate, is the willingness to stick to the scope and charge you what he tells you upfront. He's not a guy to underbid and then come back and "scope-creep". Ciaran has gone above and beyond for us. As one example last weekend I realized due to a break in to our car, that someone might have a front door key. I was out of town and all it took was a call to Ciaran. He saved me a 4 hour drive home and had the locksmith in within hours while he supervised. He even payed the guy out of his own pocket for me to pay him when I saw him next. I would totally recommend him to others and would be willing to speak to anyone wanting to speak directly (please arrange call through Ciaran). read more

I needed some exterior work done to the house and called almost every contractor and service provider in the city, based on reviews, referrals, and recommendations. Ciaran was the only one that actually called me back, and came over to the house to check things out, give his thoughts and ideas, and potential next steps. I immediately felt like I was in good hands. From there, it was seamless and positive from start to finish. And that was 3 projects ago! He is prompt, fair, responsive, and reasonable. And he's also patient with questions and inquiries from customers like me! Ciaran and his team have been great to work with, and completed a variety of things on our house ranging from installing new flooring and trim in our downstairs to replacing some framing and stucco on an exterior wall to installing a French drain. Ciaran and his team are exceptional. If your like me, you've had mixed reviews (at best) with contractors. Frustration starts and ends with miscommunication, missed expectations and missed due dates- not so with Ciaran and Edenavow. Forget about the need to micro manage Ciaran because you'll never have to. What you get is an extremely detailed oriented crew that's on top of everything. Even the clean up was more than you would expect from a contractor. I never saw tools or equipment laying around for days on end. What's more, Ciaran makes sure he's proactively checking in throughout the job to ensure that quality work is being done. He installed a beautiful fireplace, sound proofed my cieling and managed a fantastic job painting older looking shaker kitchen cabinets; making them look new and contemporary. These were advanced jobs that required somebody that really knew what he was doing- especially the fireplace renovation. I'm absolutely certain that any other contractor would still be working on everything. Edenavow makes renovation mentally manageable and thats huge. Theres an attention to detail and workmanship thats unmatched. Like all the other reviews on here, I strongly recommend Edenavow. read more

We found Ciaran on Yelp. From the beginning you can tell that he's on top of his game. He's honest, hardworking and a great communicator. Ciaran's project estimate was 30% more than the other bids I received. I figured it would be worth it to work with him since he came recommended. We planned to start the project 8 weeks later and he was slow to send a contract. He kept promising to send the contract over and then never sent it. Soon it was 2 weeks until the project's scheduled start date and he still had not sent the contract. We had rented another house to live in for the duration of the remodel. Finally Ciaran sent the contract and he raised the prices 20% saying he made an error in the first estimate. So now he was 50% more than the next contractor. This put us in a really tough place since we had a rental that we couldn't change and it was very short notice to find another contractor. In the end, we decided to pay $13k to cancel our rental and pushed back the project so we could work with another contractor. My feeling is Ciaran committed to too many projects and didn't care if he lost the project. He is definitely gouging people in this crazy construction market. read more

In August of 2017 we made a great decision when we hired Ciaran Dowler and his team at Edenavow Construction to do a much needed renovation in our 100 year old condominium in San Francisco. The scope started out as a complete gut of the kitchen and bathroom. We had a designer from the cabinet supplier but no architect or CD's to work from. It was basically a design / build project which required the contractor to do a lot of the figuring out to solution the installation. From the beginning, Ciaran and his team were very professional and solution minded. They were dependable and followed through on all of his commitments, while delivering a high quality renovation. Throughout the project we threw lots of curveballs at Ciaran. We added a garden window, new entrance door, refinishing of floors, complete rewiring and new lighting, painting the entire condo top to bottom, and even insulating the ceiling. He took all of these scope changes in stride and never took advantage of us on the pricing. There are a lot of boats out there named "Change Order" for a reason but Ciaran is not one of those contractors. He was fair and reasonable with everything. The individual subs were great to work with also. Not only would I recommend him for your project, I just asked him to get me a proposal for a new roof deck. I'm a fan. Ciaran built our backyard fence about 10 years ago. With the recent heavy winter rains, we noticed the back fence which abuts our neighbor's house was sagging forward. I took photos and sent them to Ciaran. When there was a break in the rain, he sent Sandor over to fix the fence. Sandor replaced the rotten post and double-checked the stability of the other posts, and replaced some finials that had become detached. I told Ciaran that I was happy to pay for the repair, but he refused even though Sandor was there for several hours. It's not every day that you meet a person who stands by their work, even though that work was performed 10 years ago, but when you do, you have a duty to let others know. Edenavow has completed a complete remodel of my bathroom in a 1936 Avenues house and has almost completed a complete seismic retrofit of the basement/crawl space. All of the work from shoring and replacing a foundation in the basement to the finish carpentry in the bathroom has been excellent. They use the best materials from the structural lumber to the shower door. Between Ciaran Dowler and our designer, Jennifer Gregory we have a greatly improved house. We undertook a large remodel this summer requiring moving out and with a hard and fast time line for moving back in. Ciaran and his crew performed beautifully. Having a lot of experience in the construction, I made it clear to Ciaran I was familiar with the problems that arise with residential remodels and was determined to avoid them. He responded positively and we developed a really effective relationship that allowed the project to be completed on time and on budget much to the surprise of just about everyone. Ciaran and his crew were all proactive, highly skilled, hardworking and never said "we can't do that". Plus we had a lot of laughs along the way. All worked with the architect, Leslie Arnold, in a positive and respectful way. I would not hesitate to recommend them for any project. read more
