Hello, Thank you…read morefor taking the time to read my email, I began the process of bettering my life and my career in August of 2022 when I reached out to Unitek to begin evening LVN classes. I spoke with Jeremiah and many other staff members during my interview process, and was asked extremely personal questions regarding my circumstances to ensure I was the student Unitek desired - little did I know, my disclosures on scheduling preferences and my single parenthood would be used to ensure you all took advantage of me and got money out of my pocket ensuring you would have not keep up your end of the student contract. I was clear from the beginning of my initiation, I work full time and have a daughter - every one I talked to ensured I would get into a night class within a year and that I needed to enroll in the prerequisite class immediately to not lose my spot. In doing this, and trusting you all I emptied my savings account with the hope of a bright future for my daughter and myself. I finished the prerequisite class at the TOP of the class - excited for the next steps, I called/texted Jeremiah. He called me a few days after completion of the prerequisite course welcoming me into the LVN next class, which was a full time day class - I was confused. I was so clear on my availability , and was PROMISED I would have access to a class in the evening within the year of the prereq course. During this phone conversation, Jeremiah stated there would be a class in December. December came and went, and I followed up - I was told there was a postponed class for June. Here we are. You promise classes, take people's hard earned money banking that they never get to the next step, without any care in the world. I am requesting a full refund as YOU are unable to keep your end of the contract. Please contact me with any questions. Regards,

As soon as I passed my Nclex, he reached out to me immediately and he was there to guide me to look for facilities that have open positions. Even when I went on vacation, Paul never failed to reach out. He made sure that we stay in contact until I can get a position. He never failed to update or call me whenever he found information about some facilities I wanted to apply to. He is also always available whenever I reach out to him. I appreciate Paul's effort in reaching out to employers and sending in my resume. He is amazing and very reliable! I recommend working with Paul once you graduate! He will help you a lot!!

Me and another lady were put for externship 1 hour away even though we lived close to Hayward. I ended up passing my test but they don't even help you try and find a job afterwards. They don't send emails about job openings or places looking for hires NOTHING. To me, this program feels very halfway and like it was just a quick money grab. Although the people training us on site were great, the owner is very snappy and annoying. She hounded ppl for their last payment even before the externship. It was honestly a horrible experience going through training during the pandemic. I still haven't been able to get employment anywhere! Which means I haven't had any CEU credits. The manager at our externship site sucked!! He basically used us for the free labor with no intentions on offering us a position even though we worked really hard and took initiative. They sold us this false hope of being hired then towards the end we realized a little discrimination going on at the site. All and all I would NOT recommend coming to this program. Like I said before I believe it's a money grab and Marisel has no intentions on helping you once you're done and she collects your money. She gives these long POINTLESS speeches about it being your job to find work blah blah when in reality you took our money, you should at least place us in a decent externship where we have a chance.

Every year since my kid was little, he has been pegged for summer school because of math. He's a…read morereally smart, clever kid with a very artistic brain. He actually likes math and understands it--it just takes him longer to process, and memorizing and quickly retrieving math facts is hard for him. This summer we tried Mathnasium in Downtown San Leandro, and he flourished. The biggest thing? HE LIKED GOING. Three days a week, one hour at a time, and we never felt like we were dragging him somewhere he dreaded. Mathnasium gave him tips and tricks that clicked with the way his brain works. They helped him look at numbers and fractions differently, and a skill he had been struggling with finally clicked. The program starts with an evaluation and then they create a plan specific to your kid. Kids work in small groups with tutors, there's no take-home homework, scheduling is ridiculously easy, and parents get email updates about what their kid is working on. They also have punch cards, prizes and fun theme days. My kid worked hard enough to trade in his punch cards for a really cool 3D-printed dragon. Now it's this little reminder that he worked hard at something that was difficult for him, and got it. And Nehah, the owner, is a gem of a human. She is kind, thoughtful and genuinely invested in the kids who walk through her door. She wants them to feel successful and to develop a love of learning and math. My kid doesn't need someone to convince him he's smart enough to do math. He needs people who understand that his brain is fancy and sometimes needs a few different ways to get to the answer. Mathnasium gave him a few extra flourishes. This summer, that made a huge difference. If you check them out, tell Nehah that Gideon's mom sent you. :)

Mathnasium has been one of the best investments I've made in a long time. My 8th grader asked for…read moremath tutoring, so I scheduled the free assessment. During registration I noticed they offered a free sibling assessment too, so I signed up my 4th grader as well. The assessment was thorough and clearly laid out each of my daughters' strengths and areas for growth, along with an individualized learning plan and an anticipated timeline for improvement. My oldest tested below grade level (which wasn't a surprise after an ineffective 6th grade math year), and my youngest tested close to grade level but still had room to learn more efficient techniques. I almost put it off because of the price and the time commitment, but my girls loved it right away--whether it's because they love math or because of the prize incentives, I'm not even sure. Either way, they begged me to enroll them, and I'm so glad I listened. The instructors are knowledgeable, relatable, and supportive. I also appreciate that they provide session write-ups, and the kids earn stars as they master content. Once they fill their star card, they get to spin a prize wheel (and the prizes are actually good). A huge highlight for us was the individualized support my 8th grader received while preparing for her high school placement exam. Neha wasn't initially familiar with the test, but once I showed her the book and the types of questions, she customized my daughter's learning plan to focus on exactly what she needed. That extra support made a real difference--my daughter's confidence going into the exam was noticeably stronger. One honest note: 10 sessions a month is a lot, so I recommend getting everyone's buy-in before committing. But the environment is welcoming, they have snacks, they make learning math fun, and it honestly saves me time and stress after a long day when homework would otherwise turn into a battle. When I asked my oldest if it's worth it, she said, "Yes, absolutely." She's not only learning new concepts--she's retaining them and solving problems faster, and the confidence boost alone has been worth it.

Bay Area Training Academy in engrained into my heart. I cannot express my gratitude for the people…read morehere, they are heroes (in my opinion). I did the 8-week course and they increased my intelligence and I am eternally grateful for them doing that. They increased my confidence & allowed me to build social connections with both fellow students and instructors. I want to thank everyone that helped me because not only did they believe in me but they also motivated me to be a better human being, full of compassion & willingness to assist during emergencies. Steve Albright is the lead instructor and he is gifted at teaching and he is hilarious with his style of teaching. This man is very much a father figure and someone I learned a lot from aside from the medical material, he is truly a pleasure to be around and he lifts up peoples' spirits even though everything can be stressful. Michael believed in me and expressed it in a way that I can never thank enough. I value my newly acquired friendship with Michael and I definitely felt his passion for teaching and "his" love for his students. He is a great instructor who I am proud to have been guided by in this process of becoming a Emergency Medical Technician. He believed in me more than I believed in myself and that is something that money cannot buy. Henry taught me so much and gave me a platform to grow and thrive upon. He was so amazing at teaching and building confidence without putting pressure and it allowed for one to practice like they would in "real-life", therefore it is impossible for me to thank him enough. Nav guided me in situations that are stressful her guidance in tough scenarios which is something I will never forget. Her military expertise is something that I admire and will never forget her words and they will stick with me forever. She also enlightened me with potential career opportunities for someone like me, she did this for all of the students and I'm 100% positive that everyone gained confidence from her insight. Kristian was an amazing instructor who sharpened my skills with his style of teaching. He really helped cement my confidence and that is something I truly needed and value. I know that he didn't just want me to succeed but to also help the patients/people that we serve. The time that we spent together was not nearly enough because he had so much more to give and I had so much more to learn from him, however the time that we did spend was maximized and as I mentioned I am forever grateful for his time and energy. Patrick is like a friend who I have known my entire life and he is a wise teacher who made the learning experience more enjoyable and he reminded me why I am even doing this in the first place. He reminded me of my core values and the type of person I want to be, which is compassionate, sociable, and an intelligent leader who can get things done under pressure. This man is a person that everyone likes to be around and that is something I wish to emulate. Overall, this has been a life changing course unlike any other course that I have taken. I truly cherish these people and they are all heroes which deserve everything that life has to offer because they are doing it from the heart. I am proud to be a Bay Area Training Academy graduate and I will do my best to represent them as I move forward in my life. They are truly all beautiful souls who deserve nothing but the best and coming to the academy was one of the best decisions of my life. I feel more equipped to handle family emergencies as my elders age around me and in my daily life. I am excited to continue my education and these are people that I want to keep close to me. I feel like i found my "people"/tribe. I cannot wait for what the future brings and: Thank you for everything BATA, I love all of you! Sincerely, Raul Angel Maravilla (EMT212AL)

The school itself backs up to a wonderful park and has been recently earthquake retrofitted. They also installed gates to keep the bad guys out and the students in. At first, I really didn't like the gates because it did make the school look a little like an institution, but I get the reason why they did it. The teachers are WONDERFUL and all are invested in the students education. No wonder people move to Castro Valley! There are young energetic teachers and also older ones that are just as fabulous! The principle, Mrs. Hoops, is also very involved and opens her door to parents and students alike with sensitivity and sensibility! This is a GREAT school all-in-all!
