This school looks a lot better from the outside than it really is when you start going there. Many (Not all) of the teachers really can't teach. A lot just show up, grade, and give bs assignments. Math and science department is horrible. Science teachers only give busy work. Math department is probably one of the worst in the state. Sure, test scores are high, but that doesn't reflect actually teaching. Math department uses a rigged standards based grading and if you want to retake a test, you can essentially only do a quarter/rubric of it at a time. The schedule here doesn't is so long and we never had early release. It's not even much to ask for. Most schools have it. I remember having very strict teachers and instructors. Sometimes they would single you out for making a mistake despite you actually showing remorse and being regretful for it (which is not even something you should ever have to do). They give you detention for simply 2 tardies in a week In conclusion, the school is run by idiots.

Some of the teachers are nice, but some of them weren't the best. Their principal Mr. Hendee was nice the first time I saw him. I can't tell you if he was acting or just actually nice, but he seemed legit. Academically speaking they don't have a lot of extracurriculars. In 8th grade there is a split leadership class, so you can only have it for half the year. In the last semester you go to the high school to see their leadership class. If you have the first semester you can't go. Which can mislead you to knowing information about it. Sports wise they have good teams. One thing is that if you want to try out a new sport here that you have little experience in, don't. The golf coach Mr. Christensen takes a limited amount of kids. The golf coach at Creekside, which is also the golf coach at the high school takes almost all kids who tryout. This is too also them to have practice. He does only take the good people to play, but all to practice. In all I wouldn't recommend this school...

It is selfish of Redwood Christian to cause major traffic along a major Bus Route that is used by other students at nearby schools. In comparison to other schools, this car system is the worst of the worst. Although a response may be that allowing students to be dropped off at the back entrance near Via Vista/Neilsen will cause disturbance to the residents in that area, at least that door is not part of a major Bus route (93, which is used by many students: Arroyo High School, KIPP Schools, Bay Elementary, Bohannon Middle School, and even more schools further down). Because cars won't move at all on the one-lane street unless they get into your school, it causes the Bus to be stuck there for 5-10 minutes for such a short distance. The negative impact of such delay is a late bus of regularly 10+ minutes, up to 20 minute delay. It is not simply "take an earlier bus" if the school can decrease traffic.

At CVHS the teachers (more than one and on numerouse occasions) had said "do your homework or not I get paid all the same" the teachers at Redwood are STILL paying their student loans and are further commited to excellence than any school in this state. My best friend started her first year teaching at this school during my first year attendance and I feel we 'learned the ropes' together. Although most students were 'challenging' having their social/personal lives conflicting with academics, I honestly do NOT think half my graduating class would have even made it to that day if it were not for the debunking of the rumors that coexisted with this school by the teachers I had the oppertunity of knowing. Yeah this all sounds wierd even now being 2013, five years after graduation, but if I could go back to when I was at the 'main high school' I would STILL choose Redwood. Also if Hoffman and Schooley are still teaching...they are bitchin. Not only do they emphasize academic progress, they also balance the curriculum out with fun, play, music, foreign language (Spanish) and teach to make sure the students become well rounded citizens of the Earth. Staff of whom we have interacted with are extremely nice and responsive to any concerns. Tuition is one of the most reasonable you can find in the whole Bay Area, the value each student get is tremendous! The tuition even includes extended care which in already pays for itself! Especially for busy family with both full time working parents. Public schools usually ends around 2:30, but your tuition includes extended care until 6:00! I think my husband and I are both in awe, every month, on how little we are paying for a "private school" education. In fact the tuition is very similar to our local public schools after school program, and that program was suppose to already run by a registered non profit organization! Our family is extremely grateful that we have found this school. And grateful for all the teachers and staff our children have had so far. Big shout out to Ms. Mary (which my children talk about everyday, even if they have already moved on from her class), Ms Divine, and Ms. Contreras. I would not recommend that any child attend this school…read more This school is unsafe and dangerous for children, as there is no punishment for bullying. We are new to this area, and my 7th grader was assaulted in the bathroom during PE by a student much larger than him. My son reported it to the counselors and principal and they did nothing. He was afraid to return to school because they would not suspend or expel the student who attacked him. In the end, we had to homeschool our child for the rest of the school year. When we mentioned not bringing our child back to school, the principal (Seana Condit) was only concerned about him missing state testing. She has zero concern for the safety of children at this school. The student who assaulted my son is still on campus.
