Read my scathing Yelp review of what has all changed for the worse at the Rite Aid at Fairfax & Sunset and you'll understand why I took a friend's advice and am now switching all my prescriptions over to Eddie's Pharmacy. At first I was concerned about how Eddie's is closed on the weekend. However, once I tested out Eddie's for the first time with my doctor's new scrip for the extraordinarily rarely prescribed brand-name Desoxyn/methamphetamine as the newest of four meds in the heavy-duty regimen for my severely disabling, exceedingly treatment-resistant unipolar major depressive disorder with ADD, I was an instant Eddie's convert and now look forward to completing the transfer of all my scrips from the always-questioning/auditing (both my doctor and myself), time-wasting (never have fills ready when promised and often do not answer their phone), discriminatory (began requiring me, a disabled person, to specially have my medical diagnoses written by my doctor on each scrip), ever-debating (as to what they can and "cannot" deliver in regard to controlled medication), Rite Aid, to Eddie's. What a most tremendous positive difference at Eddie's! As I had read that many pharmacies do not like to, or even refuse to, order and dispense Desoxyn, my also-disabling anxiety disorders flared up right before my first visit to Eddie's to drop off the Desoxyn scrip with its "Do Not Substitute" box checked (that is, no generic Desoxyn for me, for I had read patient reports online that the generic methamphetamine does not absorb well and performs only at about half-strength as compared to the brand-name Desoxyn, owing to a different formulation with secondary ingredients, supposedly all non-active but in reality affecting rate of and adequacy of absorption, at least with amphetamines, from my own experience confirmed by three medical doctors over the years who all said many other patients had reported the same issue). But the lady who greeted me at Eddie's was completely professional and instead of being suspicious about either me or the almost-never-seen Desoxyn prescription along with its brand-name demand, treated me objectively, as any patient should be treated, told me she would order the brand-name Desoxyn for me (it's an extremely expensive medication for a pharmacy to stock and does not exactly fly off the shelf, in addition to carrying with it, at many pharmacies, the "meth stigma" from Drug War propaganda) and Eddie's proceeded to order my brand-name Desoxyn for me right away, and the Desoxyn came in within the next day or two. The Eddie's staff members I have met so far have all and always been polite, friendly, and professional. They answer their phone right away. And the wait for a scrip to be filled is short, if you are waiting in the store, I found out about a week later when I brought in an increased-dose Desoxyn prescription and my Dexedrine prescription. They ring you up right before your med comes up, saving you even more time. They caution you when something (the brand-name Desoxyn) will be very expensive, and work with your doctor to try to obtain a prior authorization (very hard in this case, since a generic, although reported by patients to be lousy, is available, so they are still trying) in order to cut my costs going forward. Then today I had, on top of all my normal disabilities, a bad case of the runs, but I was out of Klonopin, so I called Eddie's, they answered immediately, I told them of my temporarily homebound situation and being completely out of Klonopin, and they told me they could deliver the medication to me in the afternoon, which solved my problem. They recognize me already and know my name, after only a couple in-store visits and a few telephone calls to them, and they are learning my disabilities and other medical conditions rapidly. Their entire focus appears to be on treating each patient who calls them or walks in the door with complete respect, professionalism, and a caring that is all too rare in today's world. My Klonopin was just delivered as I was typing this. They follow up on everything and let nothing slip through the cracks. Eddie's is a refreshing trip back to a time before I was even born, but have heard about -- a time when people still cared. I have switched three of my 12 meds over to Eddie's already, and can't wait until I am completely chain-drugstore-free! Eddie's has my business for as long as I am alive and as long as they continue their truly outstanding patient/customer service. I cannot even recall many other examples of being so especially well-treated by any other business in America! I am only afraid that all these 5-star reviews like mine could flood Eddie's with so much business that they might not be able to maintain their high standards, but right now, honestly, you're really missing out on a completely headache-free pharmacy experience, if you're missing out on Eddie's! read more
