I'm not impressed with the fit of my jacket and the pants are a bit too short. Also, I was charged for an alteration which was not performed resulting in having to leave my pants for almost another week. Somehow I was charged even more than the original quote. Lastly, when the tailor was actually there and saw me try on my suit he offered no feedback and really seemed to not care about the fit. On a positive note, they did successfully sew a button correctly on a shirt I brought in.

I'm not paying the crazy hotel dry cleaning prices just to wash some underwear and t-shirts, so I figured I'd be washing clothes in the hotel bathroom sink. On a whim I called a few places hoping they could do a quick wash and fold for me. This is the one place that picked up and they said they'd do it same day for me. I showed up with my little hotel laundry bag and they said they'd have to charge me for the 10 pound minimum, which is $12.00. That's a pretty damn good price where I come from! I should have brought my whole suitcase there. They said my clothes would be ready by 5, I got an email at 4 and drove over to pick them up. The lady greeted me with a smile and gave me the clothes and off I went. Everything smelled great, socks and t-shirts folded, and I'm super happy with the price.

This is very poor customer service and I will not be bringing my business back here. I have included a screenshot of the text that they sent on Saturday and she said it only applied to people who dropped off shirts, my order consisted of one dress and one pair of jeans. Back in the 90s I purchased a designer tie by Erte. At the time, it was the most I had spent on any…read moreone item of clothing. I got so many compliments on this tie (A CEO of an S&P 500 company once commented that his Chauffeur was better dressed than he was) that I wore it for all special occasions. After all those years of Valiant service, the tie was getting scruffy and was actually torn in a few spots, like where the knot always went. I reluctantly retired the tie. Enter Del Valle custom tailors. I brought them the tie and told them I wanted to get it back in service. I realized that it would need some major work for that to happen. They gave me an estimate of a couple of weeks which stretched out into a month. The problem was the tie was worn through in so many places that in order to make it wearable it would need to be taken apart and put back together in a new configuration. Del Valle did an excellent job. They took apart the tie, cut away the worn spots, added silk material to the back of the tie, and put it together again 1/2 inch narrower. Of course, the new configuration changed the centering of the design, but with this tie that was not a significant issue. The $100 price tag was worth it to have this tie rejuvenated and ready for another 20 years of service! (Note: To buy this tie brand new today, the price would be approximately $2,500. I did find some used ones online, but they were also worn out)

I took 2 pair of pants in the get the cuffs hemmed. I now have 2 pair of pants that leave my ankles exposed. I have to push them down on my hips so I don't look like Peewee Herman. I took my hat there, to have patches sewn on. I pinned one to size and asked for them to be "centered on the middle patch". What I got was one patch the correct size, the other patch not the size I pinned it to, and neither patch is centered. I want to support local but I may have to take it to a chain to get it done right.

The website doesn't have the latest updated schedule. Your best bet is to always call ahead of time if you are under a time crunch. In my case, I was called Friday and was told my clothes are ready. Unfortunately, I'm not anywhere near that area so I'm going to have to pick it up on Tuesday because Monday is a holiday. Planning ahead works for me, but many people wait until the last minute and alterations are one of those things you need time for. Other places may accommodate you, but I'm sure you won't get the same quality. Actually I just realized that this was sitting in my drafts waiting for me to finish my overdue evaluation. The clothes were done very well and they are still looking good. One pair of pants that are my favorite now look very well on me. I use them a lot. Can't find any faults with their alterations. The visit started off fine, but his response to my questions left me disappointed. My concern was whether taking in both sides would change the skirt's original shape and design. I understood that he needed to alter both sides; I simply wanted to understand how those changes would affect the finished look before moving forward. Instead of helping me understand, he told me he had been doing this for 31 years and knew what he was doing. When I explained my concern again, he sighed, tilted his head back, and rubbed his head. Those reactions made me feel as though my questions were a bother. I even asked whether I had offended him by asking for clarification. As a business owner myself, I understand that something familiar to a professional may need further explanation for a customer. Experience is valuable, but so are patience, communication, and making customers feel comfortable asking questions about a service they are paying for. I chose to leave without having the alteration done. I cannot speak to the quality of his work, but the customer service I experienced is why I will not be returning.
