If I could leave zero stars I would. You brought my fiancé's brand new shirt here which he is supposed to wear for our wedding and when we picked it up and got home, there was a water stain on it. We brought it back and they said they could easily get this out and it would be ready the following day; we never received a call. We showed up and they said they would go check on it, but when they came back, they said "yeah it's still not ready but we will try to have it ready tomorrow." We were leaving for our wedding in 48 hours. We finally picked it up and it still had a couple stains on it. This place has terrible service and they clearly don't even know how to dry clean a shirt! read more

Excellent service and true professionalism I'm a newer customer at Al Capote's Cleaners--just a few visits in--but I've already been really impressed. The staff is always friendly, professional, and they do a great job with both dry cleaning and wash and fold laundry. Yesterday, I stopped by to pick up my items, and the owner was surprised that my wash and fold wasn't ready as promised. I let him know that picking it up the next day would be fine, no problem. But not long after I got home, he personally called to ask if I'd like it delivered that evening. I brought some other things in to have tailored and the seamster was quite the comic and made me laugh and feel comfortable as he was drawling some lines for the tailoring. About a year ago they lost a cardigan I sent to be dry cleaned. It was the biggest hassle to get them to reimburse me for their mistake. At first they refused to financially reimburse me for losing my cardigan; we ended up settling for half the retail value of the piece and a $50 credit. This week I took two blankets to be cleaned and they wouldn't honor the $50 credit. They were rude and dismissive taking longer than stated to clean the blankets.. Friendly with good customer service. Not the cheapest, and I would not be surprised if similarly priced places were better, but they are consistent, fair priced, and have really good customer service. I usually get about 5-8 items cleaned at a time. I usually pay between 20 and 30 bucks. I get my items in before 9am and can usually pick them up after 5pm. If I am a little late, I still get them by the next day. They have convenient drive through pick up and drop off, but I am young and usually just bring my items in quicker than they come to the car. I just appreciate not having to walk from a strip mall parking lot. They have never damaged or lost my clothes. They have always come back clean. The staff was very friendly. They are close to my work. There is nothing else I can ask for. read more

We had been regular customers and never had a problem until the other day when I went in to pick up two of my items and was floored at the price. $25.87 for a light dress and a romper? I asked why so much and the lady - the owner I believe - chewed my head off. I said to my husband that we would not be returning to which she angrily barked "then I'm not giving you your military discount since you're not returning"! I almost fell over. Ridiculous. Rude. Dropped off a years worth of dry cleaning because I was too lazy to go to my regular place and this was right next to my gym. Very friendly service. Easy drop off and pick up. I dropped off 11 items (3 dresses, 1 pant, 1 skirt, 6 tops) and my total was about $81. I'm not sure where that fits in the dry cleaning world but it seems on the pricier side to me. That said, I am willing to pay more for convenience and customer service. As I picked up my clothes, the owner introduced himself and the cashier gave me a coupon to use on my next visit. Drive through dry cleaning; how did we not know about this already? The staff at Al Capotes will come to your car window and handle any transactions without you having to exit the automobile. The cleaner is family owned and operated with the cleaning facility on site. Our first visit they offered to have the clothes ready by 5pm if we dropped them off by 10am the same day! The clothes were dropped off without incident and the entire process was very quick, although we did notice the staff only counted the items and did not log them by individual description like some cleaners. Also, no questions were asked about our preference of starch, which we did not think about until later. The staff was very pleasant and the owner also introduced himself and was very out-going and welcoming. The pickup was delayed until the following afternoon, and the timing can definitely make a difference. Since the parking is limited, like us you may find yourself unable to pull under the awning and utilize the drive through service if other customers are present. Once we parked around the corner and entered the building there were no issues, although we did notice part of the parking issue was caused by the customers chatting with the owner and associates inside. I have loved going to this place since I moved to Tampa... however I am very displeased with how they have recently handled a situation! I took a sleeveless dress there to get altered and have straps put on it.... they said they would "call me" to let me know if it could be done. They NEVER called. And they LOST my dress!!! I came back a couple months after taking it in and they can't seem to find my dress. I am appalled that 1. They didn't call me when they said they would and 2. They LOST it? And are not offering any repayment to buy the dress again?! They won't even let me speak to the owner... or he won't call me.. who knows. I am not pleased. Dear Mr. Capote, I am not mistaken. The woman at the front told me it was "caught in a belt or something." From my vantage point there was clearly enough machinery to destroy a small automobile if used carelessly. I imagine that your 45 years of experience in the garment industry would reveal at least a couple of ways to rip the fabric of a suit like a wet paper towel. I have no experience in the garment industry and I could shred any suit you hand me with my bare hands, from this decade or the last. Put your money where your mouth is Al capote: If I fail I will remove this post and replace it with a five star review, but if I succeed you will give me the "110 percent satisfaction" of the 700 dollar suit you destroyed, which if my calculator is correct, is $770.00. I always stand behind my reviews, and if my viewers aren't 110% satisfied with the honesty of my reviews I will prove it. I couldn't write a bullshit review if I tried, and I've been on Yelp since April of 2013. I came here with a uniform shirt that I needed dry cleaned and pressed with military creases. Its a drive through and they do come to you, but I went inside. Drop off was easy and I was told it'd be ready for pickup in a couple of days(after I told them I'm in no rush to get it back). Came back to get it, and all was done to my satisfaction. Let me preface this review by saying that the ONLY reason I am giving even one star in this review is that the tailoring I paid for was done as I expected. I have never been more uncomfortable and embarrassed than when I went to Al Capote's today to pick up a bridesmaid dress I needed altered. 10 days ago during my fitting, I told the Spanish elderly tailor that I was pregnant and I purposely waited until the last possible day to get the dress altered so that I would still fit into it with my growing belly this weekend. I asked her to shorten the dress only and make no changes to the bust. I made an appointment for today at 12pm to try on the finished dress, per their request. I arrived early when a man was going into the fitting room with six suits to be tailored. I told them I had an appointment and had little time to spare, so they put me in the "office" which is connected to the fitting room. They locked the man in the fitting room so he wouldn't walk in on me and asked me to try the dress on. Right as I was about to unzip my skirt, the elderly tailor walked into my room and locked the door behind her. I was confused and asked her if she wanted me to try the dress on. She said "yes" but wouldn't leave the room so I could get undressed, even though I asked her five times to have some privacy. She assured me that the man trying his suits on wouldn't barge in but I would have to strip down to panties only for this dress and I felt very uncomfortable. After arguing with her, she told me to just try the dress on over my work clothes (I was wearing a thick pencil skirt, cami, and loose lace top.) As she started to zip me, she gasped and asked in Spanish why my skirt wouldn't zip all the way and if I don't "fit into my clothes." I reminded her that I was pregnant. She then tried zipping the dress over my two shirts and yelled out "My God! It doesn't fit her!" in Spanish and ran out of the room. I heard her tell everyone in the shop I didn't fit into the dress and I stepped out having to yell "You're trying to zip a fitted dress over two shirts!" I closed the door before she could come back in and heard her continue to talk in Spanish about my stomach. As I took my shirts off to zip the dress, a man walked in on me naked! I quickly dressed myself, grabbed the gown, and asked to pay immediately so I could leave. I told them I was mortified at the five minutes I just experienced and explained to the manager everything that happened. He apologized while charging me $55 for the alteration. The owner of this place is a complete a_ _hole! I left a brand new $100 Nike NFL jersey and upon returning to pick it up the numbers were completing coming off the jersey. This was the 1st time I ever wore the jersey and he told me it wasn't his fault and if I didn't leave his store he was calling the cops. Horrible customer service!!! They lost a brand new shirt and refused to tske responsibility and make it right. I was constantly given the run around when requesting reimbursement. They were EXTREMELY rude and treated me like I was out of line for expecting to be reimbursed. I was told they wouldnt reimburse me for at least 30 days in case the shirt "showed up". Found attendant attentive to my detailed needs, when she was uncertain to a question I had about a stubborn stain she was happy to call the owner to help determine whether or not anything could be done which to my surprise the stain on my shirt was successfully removed after 2 prior attempts by another cleaner. I have found my cleaners! A week ago I flew in from 3 weeks abroad, only to find a bottle of red wine had broken in my suitcase. In tears, I took my whole suitcase to Al Capote's to see what they could do. I had 23 pieces -13 dress- basically a whole wardrobe. The customer service was amazing. They told me it could take several days, and they would do their best. Later that afternoon, I received a phone call from the owner saying that he had gotten all the wine out of everything-including a pair of white jeans. I wouldn't go back to this place if my life depended on it. I dropped off 6 shirts, (4 short, 2 long) 2 jackets and a pair of pants. I asked them for an estimate before I left and the woman rattled off, some random pricing and said they would be ready in two days. I went to go pick everything up with my ticket and the young girl had the hardest time locating them. It took her several minutes to figure out where they were. Once she came back she gave me a total that I found to be rather pricey.. As I was handing her my card to pay, I asked her to wait a minute to go over the pricing with me since I felt there was a mistake. When I thought she was getting me the pricing she ran my card. I discovered that there was an overcharge error on their part. Instead of fixing the situation she told me they were unauthorized to give me the difference and only could provide me a credit. I declined the credit and she said I could call back when the owner was in.. I asked for the owners number and the other employee chimed in saying the owner has been in the hospital and that she wasn't going to provide me with the number to contact him. I said I simply request the difference. They continued going back and forth about if they should take it out of the drawer and then concluding that they shouldn't have to do that and all they can offer is a credit or I can't have my clothes back. They were really rude about the whole process and I felt like they were trying to turn the situation around on me and make me feel bad so they wouldn't have to supply the difference. They did a good job with cleaning my clothes but the attitude and service I received was unacceptable. read more

I was a regular customer of Al Capote's for a few months, with clothing needing dry cleaning on an almost weekly basis, as well as alterations. Two weeks ago I dropped off a pair of dry-clean-only Pottery Barn linen curtains a guest's male dog had peed on. I explained to the lady who took them in at Al Capote's that they had dog pee on them, showed her where, and explained they would need treating with a product to remove urine. I was quoted $100 to have them dry cleaned. Crazy price! But still cheaper than a new pair. A week later I picked them up and I immediately noticed the stains still there. I went to smell them, and was blown away by the stench of dog pee! So the lady explained that I had signed a form, absolving them of any responsibility if something should happen to the curtains. I get that, and I get that there may be residue stains. However, these curtains still stank of dog pee! I thought they had either A. Not been cleaned at all or B. Were not treated or cleaned properly. The lady did offer to have them re-cleaned. However, I had my son home for his birthday that evening and needed his curtains up (even if they had dog pee on them). I said I would bring them back in two days' time when I didn't need them anymore once my son had left. So, I was asked to pay for the curtains and to bring them back. Well, I was not going to pay for a job that was not done or not done properly. I would be happy to pay, once they had been cleaned correctly. The owner, Frank, was called on the phone. He arrived at the shop. Well, when I explained that I was not happy, the curtains still smelled as if they had not been cleaned he started to shout at me saying he'd been a dry cleaner for x years, that it's not his fault my dog peed on the curtains. I felt very uneasy as he continued shouting so I started to film our interaction with my phone because I felt he was not being rational. He even yelled that if I didn't like dog pee on my curtains, I should kill my dog!? I could not believe he actually said that. But he did, and I have the recording. He told me he was going to smash my phone, grabbed me, and shoved me out the door, locking it behind him. The police were called. In order to retrieve my still soiled curtains, I had to pay $42.20 (cash only), which is a big change from the $100 I was originally quoted. I paid for a service that was not done or not done properly. That simple. And got insulted, shouted at and grabbed because I dared to complain. I retrieved the clothes I was dropping off to have dry cleaned and altered, came home, soaked the stained portion of the curtains with Clorox urine cleaner, rinsed them and no more stain and no more odor were left on them. In the past, Al Capote's has re-cleaned items that were still stained and a few times my clothes came back with pet hair (not mine), but I let it go. After using this cleaner on an almost weekly basis for several items at a time, I am taking my business elsewhere. I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. read more

Worst experience ever at a dry cleaner and do not recommend. Went to this store for a simple alteration on several pants. Not only did they charge about $70, they didn't do it correctly ie the stitching came off on the first day I wore it and on the other pants, the work was not even done. I then returned soon after and discussed the case with the owner. He was quite dismissive, unapologetic and seemed rather disinterested. He didn't give me a tag for it(which is usual and customary at most dry cleaners) he didn't want my phone number or anything. He said come back next Tuesday. So, I came back on that Thursday and he didn't know where my clothes were located and stated he needed to ask his wife and dismissed me(again no apology). I then explained I would be out of town, could he please deliver it, I gave him my address and phone number 3 times. Lo and behold, he never called me or delivered it. I came back from being out of town and sure enough, he stated he would deliver it, I gave him the location again 3 times and never delivered it. I then call the shop and speak to the family member who was rather rude, unapologetic and notified me she was not informed by her dad about the delivery. I explained I am not in charge of internal company dialogue but he promised me it would come today. She eventually showed up but much later and interestingly enough, there still remains a hole in the garment. So, about 4 weeks from dropping it off, ~$70 later, and dismissive, rude, arrogant service, I still don't have what I paid for and would not recommend this place and will never come back. read more
