Good service, poor execution. I chose this shop based on its five-star reviews and brought in an off-the-rack men's jacket for fairly standard alterations: sleeves let out, buttons attached to the cuffs, and sides taken in. To their credit, the staff was friendly and professional, communication was timely, and they were willing to address mistakes when I brought them up. Customer service on the front end was solid. Unfortunately, the quality of the tailoring itself was below average. One sleeve was shortened instead of lengthened--opposite of the requested measurement (both sleeves required the same initial adjustment)--which required a return trip and extended the total turnaround time for what should have been basic alterations. On the first return, the interior vent seams were also left unfinished and, although they were completed as part of the rework, the finishing was not as clean as the original seams of the jacket. Even after these corrections, the overall workmanship did not meet expectations. The interior sleeve linings were reattached too long and baggy, bunching inside the sleeve and visibly extending below the cuff unless manually adjusted. For straightforward alterations at a highly rated shop, this was disappointing. While I appreciate the polite service and willingness to make corrections, needing multiple trips for the same jacket--and still not feeling confident in the final result--makes it difficult to recommend this shop for men's tailoring. read more

I went to Judy for a bridesmaid dress to get it hemmed in nothing crazy and add a busse. and I received it and the dress was still loose and not fitted and she charged me 283 dollars. Then she was going to charge me more to come back in to take it in which she said it doesn't need it. It was More than the cost of my dress. I went to another girl that fixed and reconstructed it and had to take it down a whole another size for 80 dollars. I got scammed. read more

I needed an old suit of mine tailored for a wedding I was attending in a week. I went to a few places and it was either they couldn't tailor the suit at that location and to visit their other location or it was going to take a week for me to get it back. It was 30 minutes after closing and Mrs. Judy let me in because she cares for her costumers. Awesome and very approachable lady. She tailored, steam cleaned my suit in 3 Days! Oh, she's delightful, and I'm assuming that's her husband and son working with her. Very nice people, professional and accomodating. She and I had a chat when I came to pick up the gown that I had her hem, and she's got a great personality, and I loved that. I needed this done for a black tie wedding out of state, and even though I didnt have my shoes delivered yet, I knew they were an inch higher than the ones they supply for you if you don't bring your own that you'll be wearing with the item. She has a great eye, and the length was perfect. She took into consideration that I didnt want to trip over the length. Great experience, love them! By the way, I didn't know what to expect to pay for the hemming, and it was 95 dollars. The experience and peace of mind knowing that I found an expert in her craft was well worth it. This was a sequined full length designer gown. You have to know exactly how to handle these kinds of fabrics, it's not just an easy hem job that your mom taught you. :) read more

One of the hardest things to find is a great tailor. There's too many places that take shortcuts and can ruin your favorite piece of clothing but Judy's isn't one of those. I read countless reviews and ended up making the drive here. I had a pair of suit pants that needed to be completely redone for a wedding. I needed the waist taken in, the seat of the pants taken in, and the legs tapered from waist to ankle. The alteration was reasonably priced and done in a week. I can honestly say the result was better than expected. They fit so well and the job done at Judy's makes it the only shop I'll take alterations to in Tampa. I'm so incredibly happy with the quality of service I received at Judy's Tailor Shop! I brought in my wedding dress - which I was less-than-satisfied with the fit - but by the time she finished with it, I was so astonished and pleased with the way it looked. I needed it taken up so that it was the right length for heels but also to walk in barefoot and somehow she made that happen flawlessly. She also removed the horrible bust pads for me by request and made it look like they were never there. It was seriously incredible work. Chain-stitched Hem, not a problem. Tapered knee, not a problem. Judy is not afraid to get Indigo on her hands or break a heavy duty needle. Today I picked up the number of items I brought to her and was charged almost $250 for things that were very small repairs one dress needed a hem. I will not be going back which is unfortunate.
