I haven't received my clothes yet. So far, I can tell you the owner was there and he was very personable and seems to know what he's talking about. I've spent cash on alterations for two sport jackets and at least four pairs of pants. This was expensive for me but getting your clothes done by a professional always will be worth the money. I'm assuming that all is going well with these alterations but I won't know for two weeks. I wanted them to take their time to do it right. As soon as this is done, I will take my clothes to his recommended dry cleaners. Be aware that the hours here say they are open on Sunday. This is incorrect. The website doesn't have the latest updated schedule. Your best bet is to always call ahead of time if you are under a time crunch. In my case, I was called Friday and was told my clothes are ready. Unfortunately, I'm not anywhere near that area so I'm going to have to pick it up on Tuesday because Monday is a holiday. Planning ahead works for me, but many people wait until the last minute and alterations are one of those things you need time for. Other places may accommodate you, but I'm sure you won't get the same quality. Actually I just realized that this was sitting in my drafts waiting for me to finish my overdue evaluation. The clothes were done very well and they are still looking good. One pair of pants that are my favorite now look very well on me. I use them a lot. Can't find any faults with their alterations. I definitely will use them again even though they are pricey. You get what you pay for here no doubt about it. This tailor is NOT GOOD! They made my clothes too tight where I couldn't zip them up and then they had the audacity to tell me "we didn't do that" these people are a bunch of liars. I took my wife's dress to Earnings Alterations to have the zipper replaced and paid extra for a rush job. Instead of replacing it, the owner claimed she "fixed" the existing zipper. Of course, it broke as soon as my wife tried it on. When I went back to ask for the job to be done properly, she blamed us--saying we only asked for a fix--even though we clearly paid for a new zipper and rush service. She was rude and completely unprofessional, but I still gave her a second chance. I left the dress with her again, and she told me to come back Friday. Later that same day, she told me she wasn't going to replace the zipper at all. When I showed up to pick up the dress, she had her son confront me--he got in my face, cursed at me, and even tried to fight me. Totally unacceptable behavior from a business. I came in with a very difficult ask. (Bridesmaid dress that fit WAY too small. Needed to let it out about 3 more sizes) Jorge welcomed on the challenge. After two try ons and having some extra fabric shipped in from another bridesmaid that had alterations cut off, we were able to get it right. Because the extra dress fabric was miniscule, Jorge was able to make it work. I am so grateful he was able to make this happen for me. No one noticed the extra fabric sown in around the zipper. First, let me start by saying I was respectful but did voice my dissatisfaction with the service and attitude of the proprietor. I believe a businesses success hinges on three principle; quality, service and a commitment to your customers needs/satisfaction. I guess one of three is all that matters to the proprietor. Reason: Late agreed delivery day of items to your customer and negative attitude towards a customer is not the way to conduct business. STAY AWAY FROM THIS BUSINESS!!! Situation: They didn't provide the service on the agreed upon timeframe and when confronted, gave a negative combative attitude. If you say "I will have your garments ready for pick-up on a certain day" then they should be ready at the start of that day, especially after having the garments for well over a week. Service and a commitment to your customers needs/satisfaction were NEVER MET! If you can't honor your commitment and if for some reason an issue arises that you had an issue in delivering on time, express this with humbling attitude. Not a disrespectful attitude. I've been to a ridiculous amount of tailors, and it is so difficult to find someone that actually knows how to pin a suit. I wish I liked this tailor better because they were recommended by a friend. I've had four pieces tailored for me here and the quality is undeniably good. However, the communication is not good. Timelines were provided one out of three of my visits and price is never verbally discussed. Several numbers are written on a tag without indication of price. If communication were improved and prices more reasonable I would give 5 stars. Having the waist taken in on a pair of pants is between $40 and $50 in my experience. To have length taken off of a pair of pants, waist taken in on a pair of pants, arm length and waist on a blazer was $255.85. If these are standard prices with other tailors around Tampa I would suggest taking your business to another company with comparable quality and better customer service, or finding a more inexpensive tailor. read more

They forgot about my order twice; said it would be ready one day, I arrived then, it still wasn't ready, they told me to come back. I went back and it still wasn't ready. They offered me a mediocre discount. Beautiful tailoring, I came in with a dress what we cut out the standard zipper and make the back into a corset style, which suited the look of this garment to a tee. Pricey & unfriendly. They charged $70 for a simple hem on one single-layer dress with no rush order. When I came to pick it up, I mentioned that I thought that was a bit pricy for a simple hem and the person at the front was extremely rude about it saying "well, I don't know what to tell you. I'm not changing the price now. You already knew how much it was" slamming things on the counter and rolling her eyes. I was not disputing the charge and was simply bummed that this simple job was so expensive because I have other items that need to be altered and would have brought them there otherwise. Furthermore, the owner called me after this and was also rude on the phone, unapologetic, and talking over me. Really poorly handled experience which could have otherwise been pleasant. I have to strongly disagree with the negative reviews left here. I needed a new suit to be finished and altered in 24  hours. From the moment I walked in, to when I received the final product, I was taken back by how knowledgeable and accommodating Jorge and his staff where. They treated me with respect, understanding, and professionalism. To say that Jorge has experience in his craft would be an understatement. I have bought suits and had them fitted by other tailors. No one has ever been able to figure out why my jackets wrinkle and pucker. Also given my small waist and forward facing shoulders, I never felt like my suits fell how I wished. Before I could tell him this, to my surprise, he noticed that my left shoulder was higher than the other. He raised the shoulder pad on the opposite shoulder and in seconds fixed what had been bugging me about my suits for years! It is obvious he has decades of experience and an intimate expert knowledge of his craft. I do not have a model's body, but now I have a suit that looks like it was from a magazine. Regarding price, you get what you pay for! I did pay more than I have in the past. However, it was delicate work expertly done in one day. The total was a miniscule amount of money compared to how much I spent on the suit. Why anyone would complain about paying 10-15% of the price of an item to get it custom fitted is beyond me. My time table was short because the corporate retail store tailor took weeks to get my item completed. When I got it back, it looked like I was wearing a wet diaper under my trousers. Yes, others can be cheaper. But I have to say, would you rather pay a bit more money or potentially end up with something like that? Essentially, my brand new pants were ruined. I went in the have them hemmed, but wanted to keep the design element at the bottom. Although there was going to be an unusual hem line, per the seamstress, I was ok with that because of the print. Upon return to pickup, the design was removed; almost completely. When a call was made to the seamstress that took the measurements, she said, and I quote "I forgot to write it down." The gentleman then offered to fix them, but there's no way that I was leaving them to be destroyed further. Additionally, the dress that I brought in the have darts removed from the bust were NOT removed. Again, they offered to fix, but why would I have to return for something that should have been noted appropriately the first time. Lastly, my $83 total was only reduced to $55. I could have caused a stink for that, but I'm a black woman and didn't want unnecessary hassle with this business attempting to claim nonpayment. Patronize at your own risk. read more

I have been coming here for over 10 years. When Angel was the owner, he was the best! Unfortunately, the new owner is terrible. He is extremely unprofessional and disrespectful. I had a simple cotton dress hemmed and the straps taken up. I was charged $50 for the alterations. I thought that was extremely high and asked the owner if that was correct. He was obviously offended and said it was a fair price. I disagreed and stated I've been a customer for over a decade and have never paid that much. I told him he would lose my business in the future if he wasn't willing to come to a compromise. He said fine, don't come back and hung up on me. To top it off, when I got home and tried the dress on, and noticed the hem on the dress was not straight and it had been cut too short. Angel and his wife have a small storefront on Kennedy Boulevard just to the west of Dale Mabry. They specialize in altering garments as well as made-from-scratch custom suits and dress shirts. I took in two pairs of dress slacks which needed to be hemmed, and Angel decided that I also needed the seat taken in as well as some extra fabric in the thighs -- basically he rebuilt these pants, and they turned out looking fantastic. They were ready in two days at a very reasonable cost for such outstanding work. This weekend I'm trying on all of my suits to see which ones will need some expert alterations from Angel. It pains me to write this review as I have been going to Angel's for over a year now, and the craftsmanship of the seamstresses is very good, however the lack of professionalism, customer service, and overall respect shown by the owner during the wedding dress alterations for my wife were such that I felt compelled to share my feedback. Throughout the three fittings that my wife had, the owner was abrasive, arrogant, and disrespectful...so much so in fact that my wife came home in tears on 2/3 occasions. For context, my wife is a small business owner herself who is extremely confident, respectful, and non-dramatic...so to see her in this state was quite a shock. One example - the seamstress doesn't speak very good english, and based on their interactions, my wife was concerned that the owner was not properly relaying her feedback to her. So she ended up bringing friend who also spoke Spanish to ensure her feedback was being properly conveyed. This seemed to upset the owner who proceeded to berate my wife, my wife's mother and her friend. When I confronted the owner during the next fitting, he immediately changed his disposition, and it was clear he treats men much differently then he treats women, which is disturbing for a number of reasons as you can imagine. One shouldn't have to worry about their significant other being treated fairly and respectfully just because they're not there. This is supposed to be an enjoyable and memorable experience, and when you're spending upwards of $1K on alterations you would expect the highest level of service. Again, I find this hard to write because the seamstresses are very talented, but there is no way I could recommend the use of Angel's services to anyone. There are plenty of other tailors in town who will provide equal quality of work with a much better customer experience. read more

I have gone here for years but no more. I believe it changed ownership about a year ago. Recently, dress straps were taken up wayyy too high and now the dress is unwearable. I didn't complain and paid for it anyway. But I brought a pair of jeans in twice and asked for the stitching to be modified around the button. The first time I got them back, the stitching was put on the opposite side from what I requested. I brought them back in, the owner argued with me about it but said they would do what I asked. But that's not what they did. They added MORE stitching to the opposite side of the button so that the button would not even fit into the hole! And to top it all off, they took THREE weeks to "fix" them. Absolutely insane. Will be finding a new tailor who will do what is requested. read more

Unfortunately I won't be coming back. Angel is no longer with the store but that is no even the problem. Left two dresses for alterations and was charged $190.00. These were short dresses with very light flowy fabrics and I found the price extremely steep. When I arrived for pickup, they could not find my dresses and I even had to go IN their workshop to find them. After finding them and getting them wrapped, I noticed that they had switched the labels on them!!!!!!! So now my Zara dress is a " For Love and Lemons" piece and viceversa. For $190 I could have bought a new dress (or two) and would expect top notch concierge service. After almost two years of being a loyal client, the new ownership has lost me. Good luck! read more

I brought in 3 dresses, two pairs of my husband's pants, and his dinner jacket in for my brother's destination wedding, and they had them back to me within a week. One of the dresses was a quite complicated Mugler dress that was made up of curved rainbow stripes and had numerous cutouts.
