It's also easy to miss when driving down Chatham Street as the side of the park that faces the street is a mere 100 feet long. Cary's Urban Park has basketball courts, a water fountain, picnic tables, four swings [two standard and two bucket seats], a sandbox, bike racks, benches and two playground structures [one for older and one for younger ages]. The play structures seemed relatively new, being made of plastic and had some climbing walls, multi-slides and elements that are more modern. I learned from a local that was spending the day at the park with his two grandchildren that the park has been there for quite some time and he'd developed many found memories there, they have updated it in the past five or so years. If you plan to take a trip to Cary's Urban Park I recommend you use the facilities prior as there are no bathrooms located at the park. Also, plan around the sun! Although the park is located in a wooded area, the playground structures aren't very shaded [especially the younger child structure] and the plastic can get very hot. Overall, this is a great spot if you need a kid-friendly break from downtown Cary and is within walking distance. It is relatively quiet and doesn't bring in a large crowd and even adults can entertain themselves on the swings!

Hope Mills Municipal Park was a huge part of my youth growing up very close by. I've lived in…read moreseveral different houses in or near Hope Mills and even volunteered at the library that sits beside this park. This little center of town makes up the perfect collection of services that make up an All-American place. There's the library I mentioned, fire station, police station, town hall and a park all wrapped up into one spot. The park itself is surrounded by a mostly paved one mile trail for walking, running or casual bike riding. Inside you can find plenty of parking, a few lit baseball fields, basketball court and even a couple football/soccer fields. There are picnic shelters, water fountains and bathroom. They even have concession stands for when the local games are played here. Last, and perhaps most important, there is a lightly attended recreation center here which I understand is free (or maybe just really cheap) to all residents of Hope Mills. In general, one would be remiss not to scope out this quiet and charming park.

Really excited that this YMCA in Pittsboro opened just in time for the outdoor summer fun. The…read moreoutdoor pools are great. The lap/adult pool is a good size and the temperature was just right. I do wish they would have extended the area when you get in to stay at 3.5 feet for a bit as not everyone is tall. On the other side, where the slide is, it's perfect for children and families as well. There's a nice ledge inside the pool that you can sit on and lounge, plus there's plenty of space for lots of kids on this side of the pool. Lots of tables and umbrellas with shade too. The overall feel of this outdoor pool is very relaxing even with lots of people and kids with camps.
