The town of Cary and the Capital Area Soccer league share responsibility for the Soccer fields at Davis Drive Park, although the park is owned by Cary. If there's no game and no maintenance going on, the fields are open to the public. The park itself is open for picnicking and perhaps a pick-up game of basketball, if the fields are occupied. It's about 12 acres or more, and not too far from Davis Drive elementary school.
There are four soccer fields, a playground for the kids, a basketball court, a picnic shelter and short loop walking trail. The parking lot has access across Davis Drive to the White Oak Creek Greenway. There's something for everyone.
Davis Drive Park is next to the railroad track, but part of the track visible from the parking lot is built on a rather high berm, hidden by trees on both sides, so the noise should be muffled. The soccer fields themselves are separated from the trees and the track by a good distance, and if there are games in process, any noise from the train shouldn't be a distraction.
The City and League both do a great job keeping things maintained, making this a nice spot to relax if you're in the neighborhood or live nearby. read more
