I found this park by accident and it was a really nice surprise. I was going for a walk and…read morestumbled upon this park that only had three cars in it, I didn't pass a single person on any of the trails. I really like parks that are not that crowded. There's plenty of parking and a bathroom available, the bathrooms are currently closed due to COVID-19 precautions. There is a trail map that shows the various trails, trails are loops and straight trails, they lead past shelters and a lot of water features, in the woods and a couple come out into pastures. This park is nestled between two roads however you barely hear cars. This is a great place to walk dogs or go for a trail run there is some elevation change if you want a little more of a challenge however the trails are mainly flat and not many rocks. This is not handicap accessible. There are also many bridges and this trail system leads into another local park so you can keep walking walking walking all day long.

It's a moderately interesting park with walking trails and at least one party event space I'm aware…read moreof. The parking is easy and the restroom is clean enough. I'm not one to ever rate a nature spot badly but I will add one reservation. The walking trails are very tough on the legs. Once free from the entrances, there isn't ten feet of level space walking space. It's an incline/decline roller-coaster chock full of outgrown roots. Your knees have to be in top shape, and you cannot take your eyes off the ground for fear of tripping over roots. Every trail is different. Lake Johnson is almost all wide pavement. Hemlock Bluffs is almost all mulch/dirt. Those are very easy, well-maintained places to walk, by comparison. This set of trails isn't so simple. It's an up/down affair where you must keep your eyes open at all times. All that said, it's got some very scenic spots and it's a great place to take your dog. We enjoy going there often. A.
