My dog and I like to walk the trails at this park. There are (3) trails; I consider the red trail…read moreto be the hardest because it has the most hills (it's a little over 2 miles), so your legs really feel the burn, the yellow trail (also a little over 2 miles) is an average hike, and the blue trail (0.6 miles) is easy breezy. This park is very scenic and it used to be a golf course. It's surrounded by large homes, and you can peek at everyone's backyard and sometimes that's awkward. Lol. My biggest complaint is that the trails need to be wider. It's impossible to social distance and when someone is walking in the opposite direction, someone ends up in the grass (usually me). I appreciate all of the doggie poop bag stations, and there are several bathrooms located off the trails. I give this park 3.5 stars, but I'm rounding up because I'm generous.

Note that you cannot fish off the deck. Why have I not visited this lake before?? I have passed by it several times and decided to stop and enjoy my breakfast here on a gloomy morning. The lake has benches on the grass near the shore, ample parking, trash cans, lost and found, restrooms, water fountains, dog waste stations, posted rules, weight scale, and marked trails. The retreat center has a large, clean deck with picnic tables and umbrellas. The deck provides a beautiful view of the lake and plenty of bird sounds (mainly from the geese). Inside they have resources and reptiles. Excellent area in Holly Springs to learn, exercise, fish, and appreciate nature.

There isn't trash everywhere. Park is cleaned and well maintained as well. They do offer a covered patio section, which is nice especially during those hot summer days! I enjoy having such a nice park so close to home! There is also an event place at the park called Falcon Hut, but because I haven't used the facility I can't comment on it.

History: a local farmer discovered the spring which had high mineral content so the people believed it had healing properties and the town grew around the springs to accommodate the tourists and that is how Fuquay-Varina was formed! So, make sure you drink from the spring when you visit.. just kidding. Overall, even though this park is smaller, it is a beautiful park to stop and have a picnic, walk your dog or to lay out on a blanket and relax.

It's a moderately interesting park with walking trails and at least one party event space I'm aware…read moreof. The parking is easy and the restroom is clean enough. I'm not one to ever rate a nature spot badly but I will add one reservation. The walking trails are very tough on the legs. Once free from the entrances, there isn't ten feet of level space walking space. It's an incline/decline roller-coaster chock full of outgrown roots. Your knees have to be in top shape, and you cannot take your eyes off the ground for fear of tripping over roots. Every trail is different. Lake Johnson is almost all wide pavement. Hemlock Bluffs is almost all mulch/dirt. Those are very easy, well-maintained places to walk, by comparison. This set of trails isn't so simple. It's an up/down affair where you must keep your eyes open at all times. All that said, it's got some very scenic spots and it's a great place to take your dog. We enjoy going there often. A.

I revisited for the first time since then with my 1 year old son today to soak in the warm weather. The playground isn't huge but it's nice, with fairly new equipment and a little something for all ages. They have a couple of toddler swings (as in 2), a couple of "big kid" swings (also, just 2), and a good-sized playground with several slides (including a nice, tall one for the big kids!) They also have a bunch of picnic tables under a large, covered shelter, a soccer field, and tennis courts. Oh, and there are bleachers next to the playground (for the soccer field, I'm assuming) so there's plenty of room to hang out/eat lunch while the kiddos are playing!

It's an artificial turf field, which can be tough on the skin when it comes to sliding, but it's a pretty nice field. It's well-marked and has soccer and lacrosse goals for use. The disc golf course is pretty fun as well - the majority of it is wooded, but there are a few more open holes as well. It's decently marked, so it's not too confusing to follow. Parking usually isn't an issue, but since it is right next to the high school, trying to find your way around can be a bit confusing.

Police did a great job directing traffic and long lines of cars. Large parking lots available and restrooms. Everything was very organized, and even though the crowd was large, it moved very smoothly. We parked in a neighborhood and had no problems getting out onto the main street. Fireworks were very nice and the open space was perfect for viewing the fireworks with no trees or buildings in the way.
