Okay- this is a 2 star basic Motel so this review is based on that fact. The room was clean (not pristine). It has a stale smoker's house lingering smell. The shower was warm and water pressure was excellent but the shower head was about 5 feet from the floor and the shower curtain had a hard time keeping the water in the tub. You can tell the room has been updated recently. Thankful for the faux wood flooring instead of carpet. The pool was a decent size. While we were told the pool was heated it was still chilly after a 90 degree day. The clerk in the office was very personable and helpful. The breakfast is a sandwich which can be cooked in the microwave from the room. The beds have 3 square shaped pillows and the mattresses were Uber comfortable. We reserved our room. 3 weeks in advance. When we pulled up all the hotels on the area were sold out. So I was happy to lay my head on a pillow at The Econo Lodge. read more

We are not wranglers, riding our horses in from the prairie. We drove 6 hours and needed to rest before tomorrow's 7 day drive. Check in was fine, then we opened the door. FYI, dog friendly rooms are also smoking rooms here so don't forget to pick up some Marlboros on your way in. The smell. Dear God the smell. Stale cigarettes, damp stale air. The AC unit in the wall, born the same year as me (1967) worked hard all night long, never stopped. Every once in a while I can feel a blast of cool air. The bed is what I imagine sleeping on a cushion of small trolls or garden gnomes to feel like. In summary, I will be watching Dateline and Snapped to see if this was actually a crime scene in the past. Pay the extra $50 to stay at the Best Western across the street. read more

If you're looking for a five-star hotel this is not it. If you're looking for room service or a spa you wanna find it here. If you're looking for a place that air conditioning and as close to Badlands you found it. My room is in the basement. My room has AC and Wi-Fi. I am very happy even with my brown bag breakfast. The breakfast contained a water bottle, orange and prepackaged pastry. This hotel is in the middle of nowhere. You can go back to Rapid City and pay $500 a night because they're close to Mount Rushmore. Or you can suck it up and spend the night in the basement. It should be noted there are two floors above me so you don't have to sleep in the basement. But I did for two nights because it's cheap and cool. The hotel is outdated and needs lots of updates but it works. If you're staying here it's because you're traveling or in badlands national Park. Suck it up buttercup and enjoy the ride. read more

I wanted to stay at the Best Western across the street, but refused to pay $190 for a room. The Econo Lodge room was $120, which was more palatable. I was concerned about this being an Econo Lodge, but read some reviews and decided to try it. I was not disappointed. In fact, I was very impressed. The a/c worked great and the room was spacious. The room had been remodeled and was clean. The bed was comfortable. No, it's not as nice as a typical Best Western, but it was certainly the better alternative to paying almost $200 for a hotel room. I was very relieved and happy to find such a nice room in an Econo Lodge. Also, the pool is awesome. It is very clean and spacious. I would definitely stay here again. read more

Well, not really worth $117/night, but at least the beds are comfortable. The outdoor pool is also warm. Our air conditioner and refrigerator didn't work, but they came and fixed them. The bathroom is tiny, and the the toilet is made for children. It is an outside hotel style, where the cars patk outside the room, offering very little sound proofing. I kept telling my family to whisper, because of the paper thin walls. If you need a hotel in Wall, go with Days Inn. read more

We checked in at 2:30am after a seriously failed camping attempt in the Badlands. They accommodated us with wonderful hospitality, especially considering that we had to wake up the woman at the front desk in order to check in! Because we got in so late, the staff allowed us to stay until noon and kindly opened up the continental breakfast long after it was closed so that we could get something to eat. The room was perfectly clean. The bed was comfortable. I had absolutely no complaints. Pretty comfy for what it is. The staff was very pleasant when we were checking in. The room - while not fancy - was comfortable and clean. The pool area was nice, but it didn't feel heated to me. Then again, anything short of 90 F isn't heated to me. It was an easy find off the highway, and it's not that far from Wall's downtown - not that anything in Wall is far from downtown. This was a good spot to stay for the night after a long day of driving. It's nothing fancy but has a comfortable bed, bathroom, fridge and tv. Staff was very nice too. The room seemed fairly clean, but some build up around the taps and stuff on the walls, and I woke up with an itchy face. There wasn't much to choose from for breakfast (cereal, toast, donuts, oatmeal, cold egg, oranges) but there were gluten-free Chex, which is a plus as an option for our family. Oranges were the only fruit, and they were sweet and juicy. The only "hot" items were: make your own oatmeal, or microwave a cold premade egg patty with extremely processed "cheese" in it. For the price we paid, it was NOT worth it. There were 6 people in our group, but the toiletries were not set up for 6. Definitely wouldn't stay again. read more

We tried to nap during the early afternoon because we had been driving through the night. We put up our do not disturb sign, but the cleaning crew in the room next to us was very very loud. Five stars for cleanliness and service! The staff was fantastic and very accommodating, even remembered we would be coming in late and left a key card accessible for us in the wee hours when they were at full capacity! Super convenient location with everything walkable. Because we were intermittently camping and living out of the car it was great to have easy access to our stuff with parking literally right outside the door. After a few days of camping the powerful shower, fridge, and microwave wave were heaven, as was the morning coffee in the lovely breakfast room. Don't skip the donuts! Is the place dated? Absolutely, and if that bothers you, pick somewhere else...but it reminds me of road trips with my family in the 70's and 80's that's a plus in my book! There is a great pride of ownership here. Also, at this very moment I am sitting in a much more expensive hotel with bad coffee, a view of nothing but a rooftop AC unit, nowhere useful or entertaining in walking distance and various inoperable fixtures. We booked a king bed non smoking room. Only too arrive to find out they did not have one for us. The only non smoking room was a queen the basement. Look I understand mistakes happen. Really don't know why anyone would stay in this town to begin with after visiting this tourist trap junk store place. This motel was comfortable at best. Bed was good, the desk gal was super friendly, the motel needs some TLC. Big air gap under the door, toilet lid not attached securely, and so on. It's ok for a night. Or if you aren't picky at all. Walls are a bit thin but I always wear earplugs anyway. Slept like a baby... Only complaint was no mat in the tub. I always feel more secure in showers with a mat..back issues so I'm overly protective of falling. It was pricey but nice place. P.S. Fat Boy BBQ was a walk out before we got menus so can't talk about the food. Walking in seems like a dive... It just seemed dirty n understafed. We left and has a GREAT MEAL at Red rock. read more

Beds were comfortable. Room was super cool on a day that reached 103 degrees. Outdoor pool is huge and plenty warm, and was great on such a hot day. Breakfast didn't have waffle maker, which is my gold standard, but there were chocolate frosted doughnuts. So take the small victories where you can. The Econo Lodge is fine for basic accommodations. It's 2 blocks off the highway (though road noise is not a problem) and 4 blocks from Wall Drug. The building is older but reasonably well maintained. There's free wifi and continental breakfast. The outdoor pool is open in the summer and is fun for relaxing on a hot day. Overall it's not a Hilton, but it's the kind of inexpensive motor lodge I expect in a small town. The only problem is, it's not inexpensive. read more

The Econo Lodge in Wall was a lifesaver for my husband and myself after an awful experience at the America's Best Value Inn in Kadoka. We had pre paid for a room through America's Best and after being treated incredibly poorly by the General Manager we were forced to search last minute for a pet friendly hotel at 10-11pm at night. Deb the manager was kind enough to keep the office open for us to check in after hours. They were kind to our pets, and all of the staff we met both the night before and the following morning were incredibly sweet! Thank you Deb and Tia for helping us when we needed it! Our room was great for a larger family - two bedroom with a queen bed in each and a separate spacious living room with a pull out and lots of room to spare. But that was about the only positive. The bathroom is a Jack and Jill that is not accessible to the living room, so anyone staying on the pull out has to go into one of the bedrooms. There were only two terrible, yellow pillows on each bed, there weren't any pillows provided for the pull out. Everything in the room was old and cheap. The shower head was ridiculously low. And the worst of all was the breakfast. It was served across the parking lot in the pool house. There were some very sketchy donuts that were served in a cake pan, completely dried out and looked like some one had spread frosting out of a can on them, warm yogurts, a cold egg-like, yellow rubbery substance, and really bad coffee. We had to go out for breakfast, adding to our costs or an already way over priced hotel room. read more
