IGNORE BAD REVIEWS *only truth in the bad reviews is that there is no iron/ironboard and sink/tub stops* Clean and well organized, my room was perfect. Friendly staff and candles greet the walk-in customers. I personally like any candle smell so that was a bonus for me! Lots of lighting in our room with a hand written note "thanks for staying!" On the desk.

Cleaners did not clean anything except making beds and replacing towels and toilet paper.

The room was clean and served its purpose, although both the room and especially the bathroom felt dark and somewhat dated. If you're looking for modern accommodations, this may not be the best fit, but it was perfectly adequate for an overnight stay. On the positive side, the motel offered a nice breakfast and a well-maintained pool area, which were both appreciated after a day of traveling and sightseeing. Overall, this is a good value for the price. Just keep your expectations in line with it being a motel rather than a full-service hotel, and you'll likely have a comfortable stay.

David is not a breakfast attendant. David is a hospitality wizard who has somehow chosen to use his powers in Wall, South Dakota. He is a force of nature. A once-in-a-generation talent. A man whose mastery of hospitality borders on the supernatural. Every morning he greeted guests with a smile, kept everything stocked, cleaned, organized, and running smoothly, all while making people feel genuinely welcome. My family looked forward to seeing him each morning. I've stayed in hotels all over the country, and I can confidently say that David may be the single greatest continental breakfast attendant in the history of lodging. If there were a Breakfast Hall of Fame, he would be a first-ballot inductee. If there were a Mount Rushmore of hospitality workers, they would need to carve a fifth face. At one point I watched him refill the pancake station with such efficiency and grace that I briefly wondered if I was witnessing an advanced civilization disguised as a hotel employee. Scientists should study his ability to keep coffee flowing, raspberry-filled donuts available, and traveler morale at peak levels. Economists should measure the positive impact he has on the local tourism industry. Historians will someday ask how a continental breakfast at a roadside hotel became legendary. The answer will be simple: David. In all seriousness, David was incredibly friendly, hardworking, and professional. He made a great hotel stay even better. Give him a raise. Five stars for the hotel. Six stars for David. P.S. - If I ever return to Wall, South Dakota, it will be partly to see the Badlands again, but mostly to verify that David is, in fact, a real person and not a hospitality legend passed down through generations of travelers.

First time staying at a Super 8 due to the good reviews, as most of them never seem to rate more…read morethan 3 stars. This motel is located a few blocks from downtown and Wall Drug, an easy walk although probably not on a hot day. It's not big, has a tiny sitting area in the lobby and the breakfast area with tables on the other side. It looks and feels clean with everything in good shape. We had a king room on the ground floor. It's regular size with fridge, microwave oven, small square table with 2 comfortable chairs and a good size TV. Bed and pillows too soft not comfortable. Lighting is not the brightest but adequate. Aircon worked very well and not too noisy. If you don't need a pool or exercise room (which are usually not that great in other somewhat higher end chain motels anyway) this is a much better value hotel to stay. Shower is really strong like a fire hose. No way to keep light on in the bathroom without the fan which is inconvenient. Breakfast - the room's not big only a few tables so can get crowded with nowhere to sit. Many people just brought food back to their rooms. There are a couple of tables in front outside but no good if it's raining. Anyway it's simple, just a microwaveable breakfast sandwich with cheese and sausage (actually not bad), oatmeal packets, yogurt, breakfast bars (not very tasty). Coffee but no hot water for tea. But there are tea bags so you could microwave hot water in a paper cup (except I have always been told paper cups are not necessarily microwave safe).

We were here only for an overnight stay, we came from Devil's tower, WY - Reached Wall, SD - visited wall drug store, checked in at super 8 at 11 PM, and left early morning 430 AM (to catch the sunrise at big badland overlook) so did not even get chance to have breakfast. Typical super 8, but this is quieter and cleaner. though the room has a little bit of smoke smell. The room was big enough for 3, complimentary items were there (check photos). We just slept, woke up, took bath, and left. Did not interact with anyone. As Wall is a very small town (Population-900), it's located right in the middle of town so you'll reach here easily. Gas pumps are nearby so full your tank.

Hillcrest Motel - Excellent outdoor lighting.

It did have wireless internet, but it didn't work very well. The owner said that it was a problem in just our cabin and if we wanted to we could move to another cabin. The shower worked fine and was very nice. The breakfast was very good with home made muffins and rice crispy treats. It tasted a lot better than the stuff I have been getting at other restaurants, The owner was also very kind and helpful. Overall, this place is very quiet and is a nice place to stay for a few nights if you want to relax for a while and disconnect from the world for a bit.

My dad and I just returned from a five thousand mile road trip. The first half was family visits,…read morethe second the scenic route home. We spent the first night of the scenic route in Wall on our way to an early AM foray into the Badlands. We fell in love with our eighty-two year old hostess. Dad wanted to find mom and pops the rest of the way. We didn't have the same luck night two in Buffalo, WY. I guess it's not everyday you find a family run motel that's been in business over forty years. In the off season, the innkeeper sews, knits and crochets. Her handiwork is for sale in the front office where she lays out breakfast treats wrapped in plastic wrap. I asked her if she made the curtains in the room. She did. She explained they were odd sized windows. The quilts to match are coming. She gave us great suggestions for dinner and warned us of false advertising and other shenanigans in the Black Hills. Our cabin was quiet, clean, affordable and a perfect fit with a queen and a twin at opposite ends. I was able to refreeze my ice blocks and keep my road veggie snacks cool in the refrigerator. The cabins have kitchenettes, so if you bring your own cooking utensils, plates and food, you can save even more. We began our morning with a walk into the badlands along a dirt road just beyond the hotel and watched the sun come up. Overall, it was a great start to home.
