We loved this little inn! We spent 3 nights while at Badlands in November. Would recommend to anyone visiting the Badlands! taff was great! The office is cute coffee shop boutique vibe, they make fresh coffee in there every morning so you don't have to make it in your room. They also have a small popcorn machine that always has popcorn ready for guest. They do close the office early though. Check in & out was super easy. Rooms are very spacious, contain microwave, mini fridge, coffee/teas. Toilet & tub in separate room from vanity which is always much nicer for getting ready. Ample parking by your unit. It's a 2-story building so not many units. There is an outdoor seating area with heaters near the back by the Chuck Wagons that you can rent as rooms. It's literally at the end of the street from Wall Drug & the shopping/restaurants so we walked every night. read more

The Hansen Inn & Cabins is probably the nicest motel to stay at in Wall and with the price being competitive with just about any other spot in town, why wouldn't you stay here? We were planning a family road trip to Yellowstone this summer and decided to make a stop in Wall on the way up so we could explore the badlands for a day. After doing some research on the town of Wall I learned a few things about places to stay: 1. all of the available lodging are motels, and 2. nearly all of them look as if they've seen better days. After reading through reviews and flipping through images online I found my way to Yelp and discovered the Hansen Inn. The photos honestly looked almost too good to be true, but the reviews backed them up, and I loved that we would be supporting a local business while in town, so with the price being about the same as the Best Western, I went ahead and booked us a room. When we arrived it was easy to check in, and I really liked that they have door codes for each individual door that is customized to your stay. It's conveniently located across the street from Wall Drug, which is the biggest attraction in town, and if you're staying here you really should explore it as it's a pretty unique spot. Once inside your room, you'll find a comfortable and clean space with an air conditioner, modern bathroom, TV, microwave, and fridge. There is an ice machine within the building, and we loved that they also provided some complimentary water bottles. The bed was decent - it was honestly the lowlight of the stay, but it was comfortable enough, and overall if I was staying in Wall I'd without a doubt book this place again. For me, I think it's a bit more of a 4.5/5 rather than a full five just because of the bed, but given that it's in a small town with limited options, I do think this is probably the best motel in town, and that gives it the extra .5 star in my book. Some of our family stayed in other places because they had pools and this one doesn't, but to be honest if you drive through Wall you'll see that the outdoor pools at nearby motels are really not much to write home about, and I had no regrets about booking the nicer place for a more comfortable stay. read more

This a lovely family-owned lodging. It's across the street from Wall Drugs and other tourist shops. We stayed in a cabin. Unlike other "cabins" we've stayed in on our trip out west, this cabin didn't share walls with other cabins. We had assigned parking, which was much appreciated. I loved the scents of their toiletries. The shower spray was good too! The rustic charm of Hansen Inn was just what we hoped for. Staff were super friendly and helpful. There's free coffee as well and it's right near the famous WalDrug as well as many good restaurants. There were also coupons in our room for two of the nearby restaurants. Ann's is a cute, clean, and convenient motel! It's such a cute little place to stay. I was in love with the cabin look on the outside. It was very C L E A N, which is super important to us! Wall Drug is literally across the street is that is a stop you're interested in. Staff was super friendly, with a "family-run/small-town" feel, and the entire process was quite smooth! The staff at Hansen Inn was incredibly wonderful and helpful. I pulled into Wall at 7 p.m. and discovered my campsite was closed and I had nowhere to sleep. I called the number on the door and a staff member came from her house within 10 minutes to check me in. The staff also mailed my laptop back to me when I forgot it in my room. this inn was very clean, comfortable, affordable, and cute. I would 100% stay here again. read more

Depending on when you come to the area, a hotel room can be very, very hard to come by. On a spur of the moment road trip that my wife and I decided to take to South Dakota, this happened to be the only place remotely close by that had a vacancy at a decent price. The rooms here are decent. Maybe a bit outdated. But a word of advice. At least when we were here in 2012. There's a little indoor stairwell that goes to the upper level of rooms with some vending machines. It was one of the most horrifying experiences I've ever had. There were thousands of insects and cockroaches in there, some alive, some dead. It was seriously like something out of a horror movie. Hopefully that's been resolved. read more

I've been here twice now. Once in 2008 and recently in 2014, both in April. My experience in 2008 was fantastic, as I was given one of the bungalows in the rear that my girlfriend and I got for a night while exploring the badlands. This time around I only got a room because there was a snowstorm that threw a wrench in my travel/badlands plans and I opted for Anns form nostalgic purposes. But. A regular room is just a regular room. Nothing special, nothing extraordinary, but nothing to complain about. I mean, you're in Wall to see the touristy town or the badlands anyway, right? Still, it's a pleasant place to stay but definitely try and get one of the bungalows in the back. read more

I'm currently in one of their adorable little cabins and had to jot down another great review. My husband and I were hoping to camp somewhere around the Badlands but the National Park campground was full and the private campgrounds looked kinda sad- so we decided to look around Wall for accommodations. The gentleman who took my call told me that a room with one bed would run $59, which was by far the best deal I could find with a half hour's notice at 6:00PM the Wednesday after Labor Day. When we arrived, he told us that for $59 we had the option of a room in their motel OR one of the cabins behind the motel. He even gave us the keys to check out the cabin! Well, OF COURSE we chose the cabin. It faces several grain silos which were siloing (or whatever it is that silos do while they make noise) but inside the cabin was very quiet and all-around quaint. A bit dated, but that's a part of the charm! It comes furnished with a TV, mini fridge, microwave, and coffee maker. And all of this is only one block from Wall Drug! We spent about 15 minutes walking around town before grabbing a bite. It doesn't get much better than this for the price and location. read more

In this day and time, how often do you get the chance to be checked into the hotel by the owner's family and see the grandchildren playing in the office? That set the tone for the whole experience, and it was a great stay. By no means was our cottage the fanciest, but it was spotless and comfortable, not to mention so reasonably priced. Hometown hospitality at its best! We got stuck in a snowstorm for 3 days. I 90, Wall Drug, and all chain hotels were full, local recommended Ann's. Family operation, all friendly, hospitable, understanding, and kind, didn't price gouge us and allowed us to checkout later due to the circumstances. Not fancy but inexpensive, comfortable and clean, and fresh warm spring water made for a great shower and tasty drinking. Just don't do it! Maybe the worst nights sleep I've ever had in a motel. The air conditioner ran for just two minutes before cycling off for twenty. No amount of fiddling with the controls would change that. It was stifling inside. Clearly, there was no insulation in the walls of the cabin we stayed in. It felt like we were inside a shed with plumbing. Then the noise...just outside the door trains ran all night long with horns sounding 4 or 5 blasts each. Impossible to sleep through that. There was an earthquake in California last night but I think I felt it here in Wall, SD. Every time one of us moved in the bed it took seconds for the reverberations to stop on the other side of the bed. I think things would have been calmer in a waterbed. The best I can say is it was clean and there was a parking space nearby. read more

omg, this motel was great, I lost my credit card and a lady came out to help us find it, we stayed one night it was co clean, and coffee in room, Tv. the bed were comfortable, and the air conditioning worked great, The neighbors up stairs a little loud, stomp, stomp, all night, but you can not get a better room, clean so clean, The place was nice and friendly, and we both had a great sister weekend, went home with smiles. we want to do it next year too. thank you Ann's motel , great people and beautiful place. read more

This is a great place to stay! The cottages are quiet - even with a train running by, we heard nothing! It is CLEAN and cozy, with friendly service and just nice folks! I was traveling with my boyfriend when our car broke down and we were towed to Wall. Since we had to stay overnight to wait for repairs, the mechanic recommended we stay at Ann's motel. We took his word and got the last room available. It was a standard 2 queen room, which was no frills and came out to $92.80 for one night (on a Monday). There was no shampoo/conditioner or tissues provided in the room, which is no big deal, but unusual. The room was clean and the shower was nice (plenty of towels and washcloths are provided). Check out is at 10am with a $20 late fee. There was a microwave and a refrigerator in the room, which was super convenient. Overall, I would give the actual motel 3.5 stars, but the owner (Ann) was so sweet and helpful and kind towards us. We would stay here again if needed! read more

We left Palm Desert, Ca over 2 weeks ago and stayed in many hotels along the way. It was 4th of July weekend. We where going to stay in Rapid City, not a room available, getting tired, called & found Ann's had a room. Arriving at Ann's we where very impressed with everything, the lady in the office was very friendly & informative on the town, she recommended Red Rock for dinner & it was great, the town was very clean & friendly, the room at Ann's was like a little cabin, quant & clean. I chose this nice motel based upon other good Yelp reviews and I pretty much agree with all the favorable ones. It is a small, family owned motel. The lobby is charming....looks like a comfy living room. Ann, (yes, there really is an "Ann"), welcomed us and gave us a room next to the office. As others have said, this is the most basic of rooms. Very clean but absolutely no frills. No hairdryer, shampoo, etc. The overhead light was excessive and the bedside lamp was dim so it was hard to get proper lighting. One reviewer mentioned the price was $55.00 a night. I mistakenly failed to ask the price when I called from my cellphone to book the room assuming the room would be in that price range. Much to my surprise, my rate was $80.00. I would give it more stars if the price had been lower. It is in a great location and I would recommend it at the right price. For $80.00, you have several other choices in the area. read more
