The sun blinds most people in the early evening at the restaurant. They have blinds. I think Damascus Old Mill is a solid 4 stars for all of their amenities, service, and food quality and quantity. Charles was our waiter and he said as 5 stars. I watch other wait staff and they ranged from average 3 to 4 stars. Some didn't know the alcohol menu as much as I'd want a server to know it. We had burger, sirloin and ribeye. All were good and everyone was satisfied with their selection and the food. I was disappointed in their ribeye. Good cut, but was undercooked for my medium request. The cut was ok and I didn't think it was as tender as I'd expected from a 21 day aged meat. It was ok. I would casually recommend it, especially for $50 for a ribeye. Desserts...absolutely delicious! I need to try them all. Overall, Damascus Old Mill restaurant is a recommend. I'd skip the ribeye and go their burger frankly. Ribeye is it all that for their price point.

I noticed there was human hair from other people in the front and back of my shower area. One was a long light brown hair in the front upper area of the shower stall. One was a short black hair on upper back of the shower wall. I was mortified that housekeeping didn't notice this immediately. It made me wonder if they cleaned the bathroom at all after the former guest before us left. Despite all the wonderful amenities, the unsanitary condition of our bathroom made me dock 2 stars from a 5 star rating. It makes me want to thoroughly survey any room we get at any hotel regardless of the hotel having an excellent rating especially this hotel. Breakfast here was exceptional with many options EXCEPT they started shutting down earlier than the 10 AM closing time & there was NO COFFEE available at 9:30 AM. My husband had to wait for them to make a fresh batch. Despite the great breakfast, I got sick from something I ate on the breakfast provided there which is very rare. Unlike other B&Bs, Scott and Loren's home offers a secluded and private setting where you can enjoy the grounds without having to tiptoe around other guests or wait for a good spot on the porch to open up. It offers a level of comfort and seclusion not easily found elsewhere. Their property is amazing with gardens throughout and a quietness you cannot find at other B&Bs. They are incredibly welcoming to their home and go out of their way to make you feel appreciated. While we were secluded from civilization, the home itself offered all of the amenities you could ever need. We especially enjoyed exploring the books on the shelves, sitting on the porch, looking at the many species of trees and plant life, and perhaps best of all Scott's French Toast breakfast. I cannot stress enough just how wonderful our stay was and how accommodating they were to our last-minute changes. Normally I don't go near couches in these places), the bed was comfortable and the room temp just fine. They even have a decent (small) gym and a large lobby with plenty of seating and tables should you desire something from the cafe (limited hours of operation so make sure you get your caffeine before 10 am!)
