Customer service was bottom of the barrel. Be vigilant on your account as they may charge you extra. The breakfast had bugs and the salt shakers had ants in them. I would never go back to this place. read more

There is a lot to like about this hotel. First, the obvious. Yes, it is in the middle of no where. Things in the middle of no where tend to not be as shinny and bedazzled as the same thing in more populated areas. While the outside of the building looks like a smaller and less bedazzled building, it's in good shape and well maintained. The same is true for the rooms. Everything is plenty fine, clean, orderly, and not in any kind of state of disrepair. Staff is very nice and the hallways are clean and free of smells. It's a quiet place despite being right next to the interstate. The breakfast area is small, but it does a great job with what they have. They have folded egg omelets, Jimmy Dean sausage, make-your-own waffles, cereals, juices, fruits, carbs, etc. There is a small workout room as well. Next door is a Subway and gas station with typical convenience store items, and across the street is a home cooking' restaurant that locals seem to like. Driving south 4 miles or so will take you into Marion where there are many restaurants, Walmart, and other stores common in small towns. This motel is also about 4 miles from the Mount Rogers Recreation Headquarters and access to the Appalachian Trail. Bottom line, there is a lot to like about this model and they do the most they can with it. read more

Traveling here from TX to Philadelphia, we stopped at the Comfort Inn located in Adkins, VA. Our first hotel stay was in Orange, TX at LaQuinta and, the second was at the Country Inn & Suites located in Bessemer, AL. Out of all three, I'd have to say we liked the Comfort Inn the best. The hotel was immaculate and the staff was so friendly, you felt like you were home. The front desk person Mark, went over and above the call of duty assisting us with our needs. All three hotels were booked online and I specifically asked for extra towels and an extra blanket. Out of the three hotels only one granted my wishes and that was the Comfort Inn. Definitely a come back hotel! read more

The staff was friendly, the breakfast was as you'd imagine a continental breakfast to be, the price of the room was reasonable, the parking was plentiful, and the cleanliness was immaculate. The WiFi was a bit sluggish. I stayed here for 2 nights and the thing that stood out most to me was the significant amount of TV channels the hotel had to offer. The water ran hot almost instantly in the shower and in the sink. read more

Excellent everything. Staff was wonderful I like the gentleman in the breakfast area.Thank you. read more

Star: ++ Hospitality: ++++ Accessibility & Amenity: ++ Comfort & Cleanliness: ++ Thank goodness there's a place to rest on I-80S after Exit 72 and 73 though it's a bit hard to locate it after seeing the sign on the highway because it's hidden behind Arnold's Exxon gas station; larger or more obvious sign is needed on Lee Hwy. Ahem, maybe we were tired... Concierge Mark's kindness eased our fatigue. Like the lobby, yet room comfort's compromised by poor soundproof walls between rooms. I also left some cash underneath the binder on the table, housekeeping... read more

Lets see.... I had expected a bit more than motel 8 style.... Two levels, stairs ONLY but the upstairs rooms are supposedly ADA approved...hmmm. The rooms are updated style, pillows range from soft to firm and fluffy. The mattress could be a bit more supportive. Decor modern. Has coffee pot, refer, micro. The shower head is a bit outdated and the faucet squeals horribly! The housekeeping staff is overall friendly but could use read more

I have one word to describe our room... MOLD. The room was damp, musty and smelled awful. Unfortuantely we dealt with it the first night because it was late and we were tired. The second night they moved us to another room (I would not have bothered to stay the 2d night but we were in town for something and there was a NASCAR event so hotels in the region were all booked), it wasn't as bad but still smelled musty and had mold droplets on the AC vent. This place is a toxic exposure lawsuit waiting to happen. read more

Great hotel. The night manager at the front desk was kind and helpful. The hotel is clean, quiet, there is a wide selection of cable channels on the television, and last but not least friendly staff. Especially enjoyed our chat with Ron who was managing the breakfast area. Thanks Ron for making the stay a memorable one. read more

Nice hotel, good value. Complimentary breakfast has good options (waffles, yogurt, eggs, sausage, cereal, etc.) Staff are attentive and friendly, especially the night manager, Mark. (He has great recommendations for restaurants and things to do nearby) Rooms and bathrooms are good sizes. Exercise room is small with just a treadmill and bike, but served the purpose well. Area is quiet, even being right off the highway. read more

As soon as the corridor door is opened you get a odd odor. Open our room door the musky odor Strong. Spotted MOLD in hallway. Mentioned this to front desk ( more than once) each clerk said they didn't know anything about it. One even stated it was above their pay grade. What kinda response is that. If you have any type of breathing problems ,I would stay elsewhere. read more

Comfort Inn Atkins-Marion I-81 - Mold in hallway. More than one spot. - Hotels Near Me - Atkins, Virginia

I guess what kind of service you get it depends on who is working the front desk. I arrived late afternoon on October 7, 2018. I was tired after 400 mies on the road. I had one of those coupons booklets that one gets at welcome centers. I took the exit for Wytheville and pulled over immediately to check the coupons book, I turned to the page for Wythville and saw Comfort Inn. Remember, I was tired and did not read the small print. I could see the Comfort Inn from the ramp and went there. There was no one at the desk. I rang the bell and shortly a big woman comes storming down the hall with a scowl on her face. She never said hello and never once smiled the entire time I was there or greeted me in any way like a guest. When she was about 40 feet from me she yelled: "Can I help you?" I was not about to yell back and waited until she got behind the counter. I said I need a room for the night and showed her the coupon. She said: No, No! This is not us. Look here (pointing to the book) See: It says Atkins. That is not us! It was like I was trying to steal something! I asked the rate for AARP and it was about $30 higher than the coupon rate. She never offered any other help or even said anything else. She really acted more like a drill sergeant than a receptionist at the front desk of a Comfort Inn. Tired as I was, I went on to find a decent motel a short distance away with a clerk at the desk and was greeted with a smile and other pleasantries one would expect from a service organization. I have since read reviews on another rating service that run from great to major complaints about the front desk. Why take a chance? There are many motels nearby. read more

The only hotel in Atkins, and conveniently located off Interstate 81.However, I was underwhelmed, and it was overpriced for the remote location & condition. Its an older hotel that has had some recent upgrades with new carpeting & beds, otherwise it reminded me more of a Sleep Inn. Note there is no elevator and I was given a room on the 2nd floor and had to lug bags up the stairs. The breakfast dining area is small with only four tables. None of the side doors are secured which seems like a potential security issue at night. And the bathroom needed some detailed cleaning - the shower rod had some rust & the bath fixtures had black mold underneath. As for food, your dinner options are all 5 miles away in Marion, which also has the historic General Francis Marion Hotel - at similar prices to this Comfort Inn. read more

I have stayed here several times when passing through this area. Conveniently located near the highway but quiet. It's clean and reasonably priced. Staff members are friendly. The breakfast room is not large but you can get breakfast/coffee with no problems. This motel is a great place to stop for the night and then get moving in the morning. read more

Great place to stop when you are on the road. Rooms are very clean and the free breakfast was awesome. Ron did a great good

Super staff. Didn't have all the bells and whistles but an excellent and clean hotel at a reasonable price

2 floor building next to gas station-no elevator. Called for reservation while on the road & vacancy available on a Sat nite. Room is clean & comfy, plenty of towels & hot water in the bath. MicroW, fridge, coffeepot, hair dryer & iron in room. 4 pillows on each bed which was comfy. Cons? Stale smoke odor in hallway but our non-smoking room was odor-free. Would stay here again as staff was courteous & pleasant. read more

After our car broke down en route home we were dropped off at the Comfort Inn to stay overnight while repairs were done. The hospitality shown by the staff was incredible. They could not have been more friendly or welcoming. When we explained our situation the gentleman working the evening shift recommended a delivery restaurant. It was delicious! There is not much around so instead of staying in our room we spent most of our time in the small dining area chatting with the staff when they were free. The hotel was clean, the bed was comfortable, and the towels were fine. This hotel made a challenging situation enjoyable. Thank you! read more

About what I would expect from comfort inn. Basic rooms, on the small size, had frig and microwave which was nice surprise, night shift guy very helpful sorting out multiple rooms and who needed handicap, breakfast limited and small dining room, overall clean and relatively new building. I'd come again if here though seek better if I had choice to go further up/down i-81 by 30 miles - seemed a little pricey for this level of hotel read more

The food was good but the beds were like sleeping on a box spring. Why do motels/hotels skimp on the one thing a guest really needs,...a good bed for a good night's sleep?! read more

This place is small, clean and comfortable. The night desk manager, Mark, is a gem--he is warm, charming and gives great recommendations for dinner. The breakfast is very good although the seating area is small--make your own sausage and cheese biscuits and waffles, hard-boiled eggs, cereal and fruit and assorted breads. Way better than the usual continental breakfast. This place is s great value. read more

Comfortable room, clean as well. Night manager (Mark) was friendly and accommodating and the lady managing the continental breakfast was really friendly as well. The breakfast had a wide selection of food and it was fresh. Reasonable price. I would stay here again. read more
