Easy check in and out! What I noticed most was the cleanliness. You walk in and everything was neat and organized. They have a little convenience shop to the left of the desk filled with snacks and, luckily, floaties for the pool. The front desk ladies were polite and friendly! We stayed here twice, in the same room actually. It had 2 queen beds, a pull out couch, mini fridge, desk area, and a decently sized bathroom. Our party consisted of 2 adults and 2 children and we had more than enough room. The bathroom was stocked with shampoo, conditioner, and body wash, all in refillable pump bottles. The sink also had hand wash and body lotion. The pool area was kept clean and the staff said we could eat in there at the tables if we wanted. It wasn't a huge area, but there were at least 2 tables and several options for seating. The pool only went to 5 feet and had decent stairs for my toddler in the shallow end. There was also a small gym, complete with some dumbbells, an adjustable bench, treadmill, elliptical, and star stepper, plus a yoga mat and exercise ball. There was a small cabinet which held towels, wipes, and a water dispenser/cups. The only bummer was I saw the same dead moth under the elliptical both stays (2 weeks apart), so I know the gym hadn't been cleaned. Breakfast was decent-- it was the same both both times we had it. They have 3 cereal options, some yogurt and oatmeal, fresh fruit (apples, oranges, and bananas), two types of eggs, sausage, bacon, toast (even a GF bread), bagels, muffins, cinnamon rolls, and a pancake maker. There was also coffee and tea. Everything was served until 9:30. There is always water with fresh fruit out. We ate at two nearby restaurants-- Fat Boy's Pizza and Cinco de Mayo Mexican and both were great! There is also a restaurant list inside the lobby. I felt safe staying here and had no issues in the parking lot. There were only a few other guests during both of our stays. This was a good spot to stay during our travels and I will definitely consider coming back! read more

It was an absolute delight to have stayed at this HIE. What I can normally expect from this chain...great sleep quality with very comfortable king-size bed and clean room were delivered. The front desk lady was very personable and friendly, and upon her recommendations for some local restaurants, I chose to walk over to the Mexican restaurant next door--it was very decent, and I was glad I made this choice. In this COVID-challenged environment, most of the HIE/S have been offering some very simple breakfast much to my chagrin. HIE/S was once known and liked (especially by me) for it's offering of decent hot breakfast. Those days are long gone (and hopefully they will come back soon)...some locations don't even offer any fresh fruit for some reason. However, this location offered some hot food much to my surprise (photo, granted they weren't too fancy). The breakfast lady had some hard of hearing issues, but she was very sweet to give me what I asked for and some more...my logical question to all the other locations is if it's done here why not at other locations?? The only regret I have was not trying their pool...you can see it from the main lobby, and it was very inviting...I just ran out of time... Great customer service, Dublin HIE!! You rock!! read more

Worst experience I've ever had at a hotel. I usually stay at around 25 different hotels a year for 3 years due to baseball and by far this is the worst hotel experience I've ever had. My parents and I check in get to our room, then after I get out of the shower I find bugs every where in the room, behind the chair, on the counter, and in my BED! It was disgusting but I have a hunch that they knew about this because the carpets matched the color of the bugs so if you weren't looking for them you would miss them. We told front desk and they gave us a new room (even though my stay was already ruined after the first room.) But you would think after messing up once they would put us in a clean room but no. The room I'm in right now smells disgusting. Oh and to add insult to injury as I'm writing this my mom said the sink doesn't drain. The stay was good. The front desk was extremely nice and accommodating during our stay and it was clean but not well cleaned. It was wiped down and not scrubbed. When traveling we bring our own cleaning supplies but we should not have had to clean that much. (shower/sink wiping toilet seat) The bathroom sink didn't drain well and even after they put drano in it, it didn't do any good. But I will stay again if needed, hopefully I could actually work in my room if they get better wifi. read more

Stayed here on the way back from Florida to New York. Took 95 to 26 to 77 to 81 rather than 95 for the first time after years of 95 travel. This hotel is roughly the midpoint of the trip. This Holiday Inn Express is awesome. It is cheap, clean, and has amenities such as an indoor pool, and free breakfast from 6-10 as of this writing. The staff is friendly and unlike most hotels on 95 they actually had a room available at 11:30 pm when we got there. Hotel is AAA approved, and they also accept the AAA discount. It is highly likely I will stay here again. read more

We checked in around midnight after 8 hours of being on the road, we were very honest and told the front desk clerk that we had two small children - 19 month old twins. Once in the room our children, like most babies, didn't want to sleep and fought sleep which resulted in noise from picking them up, sitting them down, crying, and their crawling on the floor. We received a call around 2:30 AM with a complaint of the noise. We apologized and told them we had been trying to get them to sleep, but babies don't have an off switch. We were asked to either switch rooms to the first floor (we were on the 3rd) or leave. We said we would just leave as we didn't want to patronize a business that was not family friendly and had made some rude comments on the phone about the babies noise levels. When leaving the front desk clerk made the comment "sorry you guys couldn't follow the rules." The insensitivity and apparent lack of family culture was unprofessional at best and downright rude at worst. read more

After a 12 hour drive we arrived at the Holiday Inn Express in Dublin, VA. The hotel looks nice, the hallways smelled ok, however as we stepped into the room it smelled like wet dog! (Which is ironic since the lady at the front desk said no pets) i presumed the smell would go away but no. Even as I write this review it stinks. I went down to complain to the lady at the front desk and all she did was give me a look and ask for my room number. Genuinely surprised by this hotel! I had to stop off from a long road trip last minute and always get nervous staying at hotels A) alone and B) ones I've never been to. I read reviews and I wasn't sure if I should believe them.... but I'm glad I did! Not only was the staff super pleasant the hotel is totally renovated! The breakfast was put out right at 6am. Holiday Inns have been around a long time. They run the gamete from excellent to dated and run down, even the Express versions, which are a newer addition to the Holiday Inn family can vary greatly in quality and service. I give this hotel in the chain very high marks. The staff is friendly, our room was spacious and very clean. There was a pull out sofa bed in addition to a chair and a king size bed. The room was equipped with a small microwave, a nice size mini-fridge and even had a new Kuerig coffee maker. The A/C worked great and so did the shower. Wifi was free and worked well. We were able to watch an online movie with no "buffering", the true test of a good Wifi. There was a very clean covered pool on the first floor, fully stocked with towels and safety equipment. The breakfast was first rate and included pancakes, eggs, omelettes, muffins, regular and turkey sausage, fresh fruit, juices, yogurts, and cinnamon rolls. I am sure I left out some items but this breakfast is definitely top of the line for economy hotels. Only negative comments we have revolve around its construction. The walls are a bit thin and if you have noisy neighbors you are definitely going to hear them. Another very minor complaint is that the signage for the hotel needs improvement. The hotel does not sit on the main road and it's sign is very small and we missed it......twice! All in all we would stay there again and again. Props to the management of this Hotel for keeping it looking fresh and inviting. read more

20 years old. I think that's how old the Hotel is. I was very surprised when Stacy told me the age of the hotel. For a 20 year old, the place looks great. I had an issue with one of the rooms we had. I brought it to Stacy's attention, and then I got whiplash at the speed of her response. She didn't hesitate, she corrected the issue with a smile and great customer service. My daughter-in-law tagged along with me to see how to "handle" an issue without being mean about it. The lesson instead became how great customer service is given, when the person behind the counter cares about the customer and the business. The replacement room was great. It was clean and quiet. Honestly, the Hotel is well-maintained. I witnessed another employee just randomly wiping down the coffee station when she noticed some sugar spilled on it. I travel a lot all over the United States being a truck driver! I have stayed at many many different hotels before and I have had some very bad service along with very good service. This holiday inn express Dublin, VA is by far the most excellent hotel I ever stayed at! The service that these staff gave to me was unbelievable! I got treated like family from both the morning shift and also the night shift! Anything I needed they had it for me and made me feel like I'm at home! I was so comfortable for all 6 days staying here! Had excellent sleep and all rooms are very clean and well maintained!!!!!! This hotel is a must stay hotel! Stayed here for two nights. Front desk staff was exceptionally helpful in answering inquiries and helping us find our way around. Simple breakfast, but a variety of options. Room was clean and comfortable. It looked like the rooms had been recently renovated. Only qualm was that the pool was glassed-in and entirely viewable from the lobby, but we hadn't brought suits anyway, so it didn't matter. We stopped here on 8/16/2016 while driving from NJ to TX. They were tearing up the parking lot, but the manager assured me there was parking around the side. However, there was no parking. He told me to park at the hotel across the street, but I had decided I would just get a room at that hotel, so he said to park under the awning. He said the price for a double was $150, but he'd give me a discount for $120. Later, when I looked online, it looked like $120 was the normal rate. The bathroom door did not close all the way. The worst part was when I was lying in bed and noticed ants on top of and in the sheets! They switched us to an upgraded room (which I really didn't want), but even that room had candy wrappers on the floor behind the bed (saw them when I bent down to pick up my pen.) Breakfast was okay and beds were comfortable, but I would not stay here again. read more

Normally HIEs I stay in are first rate. There are many things right with this hotel, but a few things wrong. The breakfast is standard HI Express issue, which is adequate. For some reason, this HIE loves to "over-nuke" and burn eggs and sausage. The breakfast area is too small for the hotel, and I had to get creative in order to eat...no seats left! The staff is super-friendly. 4 out of 5 for cleanliness. Housekeeping needs to learn how to clean a bathroom. From my observations, the problem is with the distracted and slow GM. Just my guess here. Staff and GM smoke about every 10 minutes at the front entrance. Too many smoke breaks-and it stinks. And what is with all the cats hanging around at the front entrance?! Who's feeding them? Arrived at roughly 2:30pm for check in. They had no record of our reservation whatsoever. I literally had to unpack my laptop, boot it up in the lobby, tether my phone, and pull up my reservation on IHG.com. It was like something out of a comedy scene. Even after showing this to them they still could not find it. TWENTY minute later they were able to find it under "external" reservations despite the fact that I made it on IHG.com. Just a total cluster - ruined the entire stay for me. WiFi speeds are 1mb down and .2 up - atrocious 1998 speeds. Rooms are decent enough, a little funky smell but nothing horrible. They put us right next to the guest laundry room and of course someone overloaded the washing machine so we had to listen to it thrash and bang around for an hour. All indications are they were no where close to being 100% booked so why they would put a guest anywhere near laundry is beyond me. Again - just a cluster of incompetence. Stay away. I am officially done with IHG. read more
