They get more points in my book for their wonderful front desk staff than anything. They were super eager to answer any questions, and both of them had great personalities. I hope management sees this, because too often Yelpers don't focus on hotel staff, just room conditions. My room was fine by the way. I have no complaints about the room or facilities overall. I just wanted to mention how nice it was to have somebody greet me with enthusiasm rather than acting like I was interrupting their time on their cell phones. Good staff are hard to find. You need to keep these front desk employees as they do credit to your property.

I couldn't really justify giving this place 3 stars, so 4 it is. I'm a big fan on Hampton Inn, and stay there whenever possible. I'm a Hilton Honors member. One of the perks is picking your own room, but I wasn't able to do that. I should've also gotten a free bottle of water upon check in, but these things are trivial. Not a big deal. I will say a huge turn off was that this hotel was out of all hand sanitizers and wipes. They have sanitizing stations at the elevators and at the doors, but EVERY SINGLE one was out. The lysol wipes were also out. They were out when we checked in and still out when we checked out. All of their vending machines and ice machines were out of order. I thought maybe because of Covid they didn't want people touching them or something? I'm not sure. They all just had out of order signs. Breakfast was pretty bland, and a lot of things were out. No regular syrup, only sugar free. All the toast and bagels were gone. I'm sure someone was restocking, but the 40 minutes we were there, no one did. We went swimming in the pool, and it was really salty. My husband says it's a saltwater pool, so that's why. But I didn't see anything saying it was a salt pool and it's not on their website? If it's not a saltwater pool, something's wrong - LOL. I always stay at the Hampton Inn when possible, but this location was just kind of a let down.

Typical Hampton with comfortable rooms and polite service. It's nothing more or less than their norm.

No fridge, not microwave. Toilet worked poorly, shower worked poorly. The gym was very small and lacking equipment.

The facility in Princeton may have the best location I've seen yet: Cracker Barrel is just across the parking lot.

Days Inn is a brand that commands budget friendly as well as being the type of hotel that gives you basic comfort and a reasonable price. It gave us that and so much more. It was safe and definitely felt comfortable enough to wear. It was just a home away from home. The fact that the beds were comfortable were very good and definitely a place for me to relax and enjoy my vacation time here in Princeton. I found this hotel on Hotels.com with a nice discounted rate. I bought this hotel for three nights in November 2025. Upon arrival, I checked into the lobby at around 9 PM and the process was pretty good. Don't need issues that I have with my stay was the fact that sometimes the hotel room he would time out a few times and I had to go to the lobby to get the key re-energized. I did not have it near my phone, but somehow the key wouldn't open the hotel room door where it needs to. The frustrating part was that they put me on the second floor and at the lobby was on the first floor, so I had to climb stairs every time I had to get the key re-energized. Other than that, it was a pleasant day for the most part. I feel like the hotel property is a previously converted apartment building. Lots of budget friendly hotel brands typically are converted apartment buildings or structures. This property in Princeton West Virginia seems like this there's no difference. I was on the second floor and while it was nice, going up and down the stairs, unnecessarily to be a slight annoyance. Too bad they did not have elevators. That would have been better. Truth be told that this hotel was good because of the price and the location for me. While the amenities were basic, and I didn't know if there was a pool on site, they had OK Wi-Fi, and the breakfast options were very nonexistent. The overall experience here at this hotel in Princeton, West Virginia was fairly good and comfortable. The price is per night were on point and very budget friendly for me. I found this hotel through Hotels.com and decided to book for three nights in November 2025. The hotel check-in process was early decent and fast and the times that I had to pre-energize the hotel room key, the hotel staff at the front desk did not ask to see ID or whatever, he just knew that I was staying there because he already checked me in the previous night, which is pretty cool. This Days Inn hotel is very typical and not luxurious. The room itself had 2 queen beds and wasn't that large but could support 2-3 people at any given time. The room itself was clean, although there wasn't any good outlets in my unit except for the one next to the bathroom. Had to try all the outlets before finding a good one to charge my phone and accessories. And so, if you need a place to stay for cheap and in the Princeton, West Virginia area, or even passing through, consider coming to stay at the Days Inn property. The only amenity that I used during my stay besides the WiFi was the ice machine, if you can call it an amenity. This Days Inn hotel is branded by the Wyndham hotels group. They're known worldwide for their excellent comfort and stays. I particularly enjoyed the bed because they provided some comfortable beds and got in decent amount of sleep during my stay here and not be deprived of it. This Days Inn hotel is located at 150 Meadowlane Drive in Princeton, West Virginia. Like many hotels in the industry, they accept room bookings directly thru their website or thru 3rd party bookings. I happen to book thru a 3rd party and it went well. The only disappointment was the breakfast option. Whether I slept in or the quality of the breakfast wasn't there, I didn't care for it and looked elsewhere for something to eat. As far as parking goes, best bet would be to have your own personal vehicle or rent one for convenience. If you are like me, you can get here thru Amtrak, greyhound bus, and the regional Princeton / Bluefield public transportation system. And if you have it available to you, there's always uber and lyft to get you here from the airport, although the distance from the nearest commercial airport is long (CLT) or (CRW) that come to mind. Whether whether you're here on business or pleasure or simply passing thru, consider the Days Inn hotel. It's comfortable and budget friendly. 4.0 stars for the overall experience. Support local! B

MY FIRST ENCOUNTER WITH BED BUGS…read more I wanted to participate in an event at Concord University in Athens, West Virginia, the evening of Wednesday, February 24th. Since I knew I wouldn't be done until after 9:00 pm, and I didn't want to drive two hours home to Charleston, West Virginia, I thought I would just stay at a hotel in Princeton, West Virginia, which is only about eight miles south of Athens. I could have stayed in a nicer, more modern hotel, but I decided to stay at Budget Inn and save a few bucks. So I made my reservation online. Upon checking in at about 4:00 pm, the very nice gentleman told me that if I ever wanted to stay there in the future, it would be best to call the hotel, and he would give me a better rate than having to reserve a room online. I was given room 111. The room was rather poor, with a very musty smell of the sort one might expect in a motel that has seen better days. Towels left by the previous occupant were still hanging on the shower rod. But the TV and AC/heat were okay, and the Wifi was pretty fast, and since I'm not a high maintenance sort of guy, I thought it would do for $66 including tax. After getting back to the motel after the event at Concord University, I started settling in for the night, but I decided (just to be safe) to check the bed for bed bugs, and when I pulled the comforter off the bed, I found a bed bug, a little appleseed-sized critter scurrying away, which I dutifully crushed between my thumb and forefinger. It was just ONE bed bug, but like roaches, if you see one, you know that there are more nearby. The very last thing I need in my life is a bed bug infestation at home, so I packed my things and turned in my key at the front desk, telling the manager what I had seen. Then I drove the two hours back home to Charleston, West Virginia. As soon as I got home, I threw all the clothes I had taken with me into the washer, sprayed bug spray into my luggage and took a shower. Maybe it was overkill, but I just can't deal with bed bugs on top of COVID-19. The whole experience was tremendously dismaying. Next time I'll pay more for nicer digs.
