I would give 10 stars if possible - Erast and his crew are amazing. This is the third time I have used their team - we hired him a number of years ago to do our roof - then were so happy with their work that they did some structural repairs/ siding and deck for us. This past year- I tried them for our bathroom remodel. What I like most about Erast and his crew are the attention to detail. No - they will not be the cheapest bid you get, but they do really high quality work to very exacting standards. He is very familiar with working in SF and the arduous permitting process you have to go through, Living through a remodel is never fun, but his team is respectful of you / your home and the workspaces were kept immaculate. His subs are excellent - and he / they definitely go above and beyond. Shortly after the project was completed - my boiler / hot water went out during the PG&E extended power outage. He was able to get his plumber there same day to work on repairs. read more

I had a really bad experience with a previous contractor and I was really dreading the repairs my house required last fall. The roof needed replacement, the balcony was actively leaking, and there was dry rot in several areas of the house. Since I already needed so much exterior work done, it seemed like a good time to add solar panels and have the entire house repainted as well. Armand and the multiple crews he had work on my house did an *amazing* job, and they were pleasant to have around. Armand was very responsive to my questions and requests and gave useful advice. He was patient with me when I panicked, and he did everything he could to make the whole experience as stress free as possible. He coordinated with my solar panel installers to make sure everything went smoothly and the timing of the roof installation worked out, and he rushed to get my balconies waterproofed before it started raining. They used high quality materials, were up to date on the latest techniques and tools, and paid great attention to detail. I could tell they really cared about their work, and my neighbors have all complemented me on how nice the paint job looks. I can finally sleep easy without having to worry about more leaks and dry rot! read more

Eco Smart Builder - My neighbors have all complemented me on the paint job. - General Contractors Near Me

It's been a busy few months, but with all the rain we've been getting, I'm so thankful for for Erast and his team. They were fantastic!! I scheduled an appointment with Erast in November and he gave me a very detailed report with recommendations, including a priority list. Despite being more pricey, I decided to go with Erast for a few reasons: his professionalism, his courteousness, his thoroughness, and of course, the 20-year warranty (read the necessary steps to keep this active). Erast came with his team that first day and checked in with me via email/text every few days to let me know the progress, complete with pictures. Erast was always very responsive and was always courteous. He even let me know when he had to leave town for a few days, and when he expected to return. They started in December between "rainy days" and was able to replace the main part of the roof within three days!! When the first storm hit right after, I was a little apprehensive since the roof wasn't entirely finished (and I wasn't sure if the roof needed time to "set.). True professionals as they are, they knew exactly what to expect and what to do in the time frame(s) given. For the first time in years, there was no leaking anywhere! It was especially nice that Erast and his team was as responsive as needed, but also that they worked independently for the majority of the time since we needed to work, too. The team was on time every day and let me know when they were leaving for the day. They also let me know if they weren't coming the next day, and/or when they would return. Three months later now, and after a few big storms, I am very happy to say that everything is still going well!! It is so nice to not have to worry about the roof leaking anymore. Great job, Erast and Eco Smart Builder Team!! Thank you!! read more

Construction and repairs are never fun - but I will actually miss having these folks around. They are kind, patient, and made friends with all of our neighbors. Their work is high quality with incredible attention to detail. They did a lot of different things for us. They re-roofed, repaired our water damaged decks and the ceilings and walls underneath them, reinstalled windows that had been improperly installed before, sealed all the exteriors seams, and repainted the house. Everything is solid and beautifully done. The house is now so gorgeous we've caught people taking selfies in front of it! I don't ever want to need a contractor again, but if I did these would be the first people I call. I wouldn't hesitate to work with them again. read more

A good contractor is like a good boyfriend in San Francisco - hard to find. It's ironic because if you have a good boyfriend, you probably don't need a good contractor. Well, I have found one for you and me! No, not a good boyfriend, I'm still working on that. When my aunt and uncle needed to fix their roof deck, I called around to find someone who'd be able to handle the job themselves instead of having to hire a roofer and carpenter separately. One job = one warranty and service = one person for my aunt and uncle to call/pester re: the warranty and service if anything went downhill (and I did not want to be the person they called). I found Eco Smart for them and my aunt and uncle were impressed with Erast since he was able to explain to them why a tiled deck would not be a good choice for their place. They decided to move forward with a membrane replacement and floating deck install and Eco Smart finished the job within 7 days. Erast and Christian did a great job putting in a new membrane, completing the repairs, and sealing the deck with a stain of my uncle and aunt's choosing. It was like Creation but with a deck. So I haven't found a good boyfriend for you (or me) but I have found a good roof and deck contractor for you. I'm hoping you can return the favor and find me a good boyfriend. read more

I can only underscore what has been written about these folks and add my string of compliments. Upon discovering a potential leak in my roof, I hired Eco Smart to do an inspection. Erast brought a team of 3 others with him and they did an impressively comprehensive inspection. He sat down with me and walked me through the most pressing issues immediately following the inspection - the need for a new roof and the need to repair/replace front siding due to extensive dry rot -- and followed up soon thereafter with a written report. The report that followed was highly detailed, comprehensive and had many photos to illustrate the issues and recommendations. What struck me immediately was Erast's "bedside manner" - he is professional, warm, thorough, straightforward and was very reassuring. After some additional research, I decided to go with Eco Smart for the roof replacement and the extensive repair work to my building. The work was done in two phases, starting with the roof. The guys worked quickly and turned the entire roof replacement around in a matter of days, including erecting scaffolding. Everyday they left the job site immaculate -- so much so that Dima, the foreman, would come into my condo at the end of the day to vacuum up any mess that occurred when they removed my old skylights. Unfortunately, the damage to the front of the building turned out to be more extensive than we had thought (early on they alerted me to the possibility that the damage may be greater than we originally thought). Erast provided a new estimate immediately and did not go over that estimate by a penny. In fact, they went above and beyond and handled a few issues that arose unexpectedly without increasing the cost. As with the roof, the work was done efficiently, meticulously, professionally and with an obvious degree of care, expertise and craftmanship. People literally stop me on the street to compliment me on how incredible my building looks, and for good reason. Aside from the quality of the work, it is truly the level of service, "bedside manner" and professionalism that sets Eco Smart apart. My texts and emails were returned IMMEDIATELY. Erast and the others patiently answered all of my questions and addressed my concerns, no matter how trivial or insignificant they might have been. All of the guys are so knowledgeable but they explain things in terms that are easy to understand. Plus, they are just a joy to work with and interact with. Honestly, I could go on and on about my experience. I could not recommend Eco Smart enough and would use them again in a heartbeat. read more

In short - great roofing and general contractor. We contracted with these guys originally for solar roofing replacement, they did a fabulous job and we ended up loving the project and pricing. We later found out that Eco Smart also does exterior renovations as they are licensed in C39 Roofing and B General Contractor, we restored our exterior, repaired damage and fully repainted our home, they also installed a floating deck for us. Communication was simple and efficient, very nice people and great crew. Fully insured, licensed and carries workers compensation. Will post a couple photos too! read more

This company is absolutely great. We had to perform a very quick bathroom remodel in one of the properties that we rent out through air brnb. These guys are great, responsive, reliable. I worked with Erast before on other projects and he did not disappear with my kitchen remodel. Erast and Alex are a great team, materials were chosen on time, planning was done very carefully and the end result was fabulous. These guys really know what they are doing. Pricing was competitive. read more

Great company, very efficient and clean guys, working with Alex was a pleasant experience from day one. They came to evaluate our kitchen to give us a bid on a remodel. Communication was easy, they had all the high tech tools, they measured quickly, explained patiently and sent us the bid in two days. After a phone conversation with Alex I understood that they specialize in bathrooms, kitchens and exterior renovations which was exactly what we needed as kitchen work was tied to some exterior modifications. It was an obvious choice for us as we've been looking for a contractor for a while and these guys were the only ones we really considered. Contract was signed and remodel began, it was a very positive experience as we worked during the day and coming home looking at the progress was very interesting, we had late evening consultation calls a few times and within 3 weeks it was done and we're very pleased. We were looking for a competent deck installer that would do a very good job on our roof deck and that had experience working with mahogany. It was very important to us to get someone who was equally qualified and responsible as we just had a new roof put on by Eco Smart Roofer. This is a sister company that specializes in construction remodels, decks and exterior upgrades. Guys came in and estimated the work, we got a proposal within two days and work was scheduled, they worked directly with The Decking Store in San Jose to figure out the material amount and organized a delivery, was a very pain free-experience and our deck is loved by entire family! Highly recommend to anyone that needs a quality contractor! read more

In the rainiest of Januarys, the roof on our 1925 SF home sprung a robust leak. Water found its way into the walls, and we needed a roofing pro, fast--not such an easy thing when so many SF roofing companies were booked solid. EcoSmart came highly recommended by a realtor friend, and although I was discouraged, convinced they'd be way too busy to handle another job, less than 5 minutes after I left a message, Armand called back. He was kindness itself, professional, and a world-class listener. A couple of weeks later, during a break in the weather, EcoSmart put on our brand new roof. It's unbelievably rare, that genuine concern and serious commitment to mind-blowing customer care. Lots of companies say they do it. But EcoSmart really does. And the work quality, of course, is matchless. Can't imagine working with any other roofing company. read more

Erase and Armand did a perfect job painting and re-roofing our house in Bernal Heights a few years ago, and I forgot to leave a review. I am ready to start another project so, of course, I called them again. Armand was really helpful about how to move forward getting plans, permits, etc. He spent at least a half hour giving me advice (and making me laugh). They take great pride in their work, and their professionalism is the best. You can't go wrong with these guys. read more

We needed a bathroom remodel in our condo and struggled to find the right contractor, the prices were very different and we couldn't agree on a contractor as they did not seem to be competent, every sentence followed by the "change order" phrase. Seemed that we were getting into something much bigger than we expected. We waited and waited and waited and at some point decided to postpone the remodel since it seemed that we need to gather more funds. Eco Smart was recommended by a friend and we invited them for an estimate, estimate was quick and painless, they got the latest technology from laser measuring tools to thermal imaging systems and wireless moisture mappers, they looked through our walls to figure out the thickness using spy cameras through outlets, amount of damage on the wall from a past leak was estimated quickly by temperature differences and there were no hidden fees. We didn't hear them say "change order" a single time. Guys came in second time with material samples and we choose everything from the type of sink and faucets to finish tiles. Remodel began and it was a miracle, clean, efficient and smart. Completed renovation in less than a month and we are happy as could be! Recommend this company to anyone who wants a pain free experience. read more

EcoSmart just completed extensive work on the front of our house to replace boards that had dry rot and paint the boards they replaced. They also put a protective covering under the boards that didn't have it. We appreciated the quality of their work and their attention to detail. The house looks great, and we feel protected against moisture for many years to come. read more

I have been extremely pleased with EcoSmart. Erik and his team were extremely patient and accommodating in answering all of my questions and then scheduled the work to ensure that they could reroof my house before the recent storms hit. I am very happy with their patience, thoroughness, and follow-through and highly recommend them. I am a first time homeowner and the skylights in my house are drafty and leaky. I brought Erik in to inspect them as well as the roof because at the time of purchase the owner disclosure indicated the roof was fifteen years old but the home inspector thought it looked newer. After the inspection, Erik provided me with a thorough report which indicated that the roof had been patched, which might explain the discrepancy. Erik provided me with two options for repairs and over the next week promptly and patiently answered all my questions. After I decided to go ahead with replacing the entire roof, he scheduled the work so that it would be complete before the storm. I was happy with work and they left the place spotless. There was some torch damage to a molding near the skylight and they repainted that. They even resealed the aging skylights as a stopgap while we wait for new ones to come in. I am very satisfied with the service they provided and although at first I did have sticker shock, I can say that it was worth it given the quality of their work and their client-oriented service! read more

We cannot give enough stars to this incredible company! Erik and his staff Christian truly are the most reliable, professional and hard working team around! We used EcoSmart Builder for the waterproofing of our 1905 home. Our basement started flooding after all of the rain and EcoSmart Builder had the solution. They worked diligently to address the leaking concrete, patch and pour new concrete and waterproof and crystallize our entire basement. Over the last two months, even after tons of rain, our basement is COMPLETELY DRY!!! We are thrilled with the work! Thank you EcoSmart! We will be using you for many projects in the future! read more
